Friday Five

It’s a new year, but Friday Five is still the same, a list five random things about our week!

  1. Wizard and I made our first trip to wineries on Wednesday afternoon. We didn’t do any tasting, we just chose a few bottles to replace our depleted supply of good wines, and enjoy the pretty views.
  2. Maggie is now getting two walks a day and she loves it! Wizard has been walking her in the morning, then I take her out in the afternoon. That won’t work in the heat, but for now, it’s great.
  3. I made a new-to-us recipe of Lemon Basil Linguine and I added some shrimp. It was good!
  4. I’m starting in the book (SAVAGED DEVOTION) from the spot I feel it all went wrong. In my head, it all makes sense, but when I open the document, I’m like a deer in headlights :-)  I just need to push through and write! I’m only working an hour or two at stretch at the computer. I’ve also been cleaning out the old year, sketching out my goals for next year (like pulling my career out of the toilet, LOL!) and setting up my new calendar.
  5. Oh! And Maggie has her new blanket! Wizard “won” it for her in another White Elephant gift game. He stole it from another player specifically for Maggie. All I can say is that his walking her daily is paying off for both Wizard and Maggie!

Now it’s your turn to share your Friday Five.  Hope everyone has a great week!

Yay for Maggie! Two walks a day and a blanket. That’s livin’ the doggie high life there. She’s so lucky to have been found by you. I’m totally with you on the writing thing – deer in headlights here, too.

    1) I spent some time thinking about 2019 goals and posted them on the blogs, but so far, I’m not really feeling them. I’m trying to get into the swing again, but I think my swing is broken. Like some rotten kid twisted the chains up or something.
    2) Weighed myself to start the year. Not horrible, but not great either.
    3) We’re back working in the woods again. Tackling the bottom half this time. Ugh, there’s a lot of deadfall down there. It already looks better, but there’s a lot of work left to do.
    4) One upside to all of last year’s ‘getting active’ is it’s a lot easier to work in the woods this time than it was last winter.
    5) It’s pouring rain here this morning.

Maggie’s definitely living the high life! And Wiz is sooo smitten. Not comments on your deer in headlights except yeah, we ALL need matching T-shirts. My five:

    1) I got caught up on some not-writing paperwork. I have a bit left to do today and then I’m good for a couple of weeks. (Contest chair stuff)

    2) It snowed yesterday. This is unusual for us and I like looking at it through the window.

    3) I was awake at midnight on New Year’s Eve. I had to convince the dogs to go out because the idiots were popping off fireworks in the neighborhood. LG was sound asleep. LOL

    4) I have so many ideas for new books but I can’t start on them until I finish out the books in other series. Frustrating.

    5) No goals or resolutions from me. Well, except to get the projects done that have to be done. Then maybe Iffy can come out to play with new stuff. At the rate I’m going, that’ll be around next December. LOLOL

    Have a great weekend, everyone!

    1. Nice! Wine :)! How long does it take to get to wine country?
    2. Maggie must be one happy girl.
    3. Dinner sounds yummy :)!
    4. Sending you good wishes on the book. I’m sure you’ll get it worked out.
    5. Good job Wizard! Maggie loves you big time!

1a. Tried to make fudge for the first time in 2 years and failed. I just couldn’t stir it fast enough :(.
2a. Going to girlfriends tomorrow for cocktails. Have never done this. Should be interesting ;).
3a. All decorations are down and put away :).
4a. We’re going to have a nice mild weekend.
5a. Hubs is growing snow peas for Spunk in the sun room. He will be so happy with fresh peas. Should be ready in a week or two.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

B.E., I’m here responding! I’m late thanks to a trip to Urgent Care. I’m fine, I’m just like Kira, brewing up a UTI :-) Which is NOT helping the writing thing for me. For you, it’s burnout, you’ve been working hard on two jobs plus life, and it takes it’s toll.

Being active like you are now is more important than hitting a number on the scale. That’s hard work clearing away the deadfall, but it pays off in your view!

Hope you get just enough rain to enjoy but not be a problem! Have a great weekend!

Silver, I agree on the matching T-shirts! Today my excuse is a trip to Urgent Care for a UTI I tried to ignore. FYI, ignoring doesn’t work. But this year has potential to shape up for all of us!

Paperwork is a time suck. The snow sounds pretty! The one time we had it here, I loved it, but I don’t think I want to live in it.

Midnight fireworks are beyond annoying and how do the hubbys sleep through it? Maggie went before fireworks and was okay in her kennel all night, but I feel for you!

Ideas are such a tease when have projects to finish. Goals are optional, and finishing current projects is a worthy one!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Viki, I’m answering in a jumble today. As I mentioned to Silver and BE, I spent the afternoon hanging out at Urgent Care for a stupid UTI. I rarely get them, so I guess I was due. To answer your question, we’re about 20 or 30 minutes away from the Temecula wine country.

Ugh on the fudge, I’m guessing your arm wasn’t up to it. If it helps, I don’t have great luck with fudge, but can make other candies fine.

You’ve earned cocktails at your girlfriends after getting all the holiday decorations put away. And it should be nice weather!

Spunk is lucky and well loved too! Obviously hubs has a soft spot for him to grown him snow peas :-)

Have fun with your girlfriend and a great weekend!

Ugh, that blows. At least now they’ve probably got you on some meds that will clear it up quick. :hugs:

Thanks, B.E. I’m on antibiotics and I expect to be fine :-)
