Friday Five

TGIF! I don’t know where the week went–all I heard was the whoosh of time passing and suddenly, it’s Friday! Okay here’s 5 random things about my week:

  1. Our little city has gained worldwide fame for the poppy craze. There’s even shots from satellite picture space, LOL! (See the picture.)  All the orange are the poppies in the canyon that is just a couple of miles from my house.  So this weekend, I’m staying home.
  2. The last two days have rained, and there’s still diehards trying to see the poppies. Um…they only bloom in sunlight :-) But truly I understand it, this is a rare beauty and people want to experience it.
  3. My book is a battlefield as big as the Poppy Apocalypse. Not kidding. I’m so freaking annoyed and tired of this. Also, Wine Is My Friend.
  4. I’ve been on a semi-diet for a day and a half. Still not skinny. Sad :-(
  5. My dog, Maggie, is an amazing gift! Maybe to others, she’s just a dog, but to me, she’s special. She brings Wizard and I love, loyalty and laughter that we would never have known without her. And she reminds me to be grateful each and every day. Maggie was worth waiting for (most of you know how long I waited to have a dog of my own!), and I’ll treasure her for all the days we have with her.

Okay so that’s my Friday Five, and now I’d love to hear yours! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I told you y’all made national (and local) news! Maggie is a good girl! Let’s not talk about battlefield books. Just…no. And my five:

    1. Our spring forecast is for cooler and wetter than normal, with above average chance for tornadoes, including some big ones. Oy.

    2. I finally got to bed at 4 a.m. this morning. I was asleep around 4:30/5:00-ish and the damn cat meowed at 7 a.m. demanding food because OMG MOM! I’M GONNA EXPIRE FROM STARVATION HERE!

    3. I want the baby feral kitty that’s started hanging out. I almost caught it several weeks ago but it managed to elude me and is totally leery. However, the past few days, it’s hanging out on the porch. I think it’s the runt and mom kicked it out. :/ It’s too cute and I want!

    4. I lost four pounds. I have no idea why…except maybe stress. Except I tend to stress eat. I’m trying hard not to this time around. Wish my knees felt good enough to walk or get on the gazelle.

    5. I’m giving the Black Dagger Brotherhood another try. I’m hoping the things that drove me crazy when I tried reading them won’t push buttons in audio. I read a recent novella in the series and loved it. I have the feeling that it’s one of those series that really needs to be started at book 1. We’ll see. At least I can get the audio books from Audible Romance or the library.

That’s it for me. Have a great weekend and stay out of the way of the silly Poppy People! ;)

    1. I love the satellite view :). Wish more people would enjoy the poppies this way.
    2. People are stupid. Sorry, but it’s true.
    3. Wine is a good friend. The battle will be won!
    4. Bummer. A day and a half should work ;).
    5. Maggie is a sweetheart. I am so glad you three have one another.

1a. Yes, it’s cold and snowing.
2a. I think my thumbs hate the changes in weather. They hurt worse today than in a very long time.
3a. Hubs and I are having dinner over near Harrison’s tomorrow but his parents won’t let him come. They will be at a function at the Natural History Museum all day and they think he’ll be crabby :(.
4a. Spunk has been eating vaseline per the vet and he has only thrown up once. This seems to be working. Now I have to cut back his food or he’ll get fat since he’s not throwing up 5 to 9 times a week.
5a. Wine is my friend too. Just pulled down one of my Waterford crystal wine glasses to drink with class tonight. Who am I kidding – class  .

    Have a great weekend.

Silver, I’m with you on not talking about it. Instead we’ll talk about your five:

    1) Tornadoes are scary! Hope your city and surrounding area doesn’t get hit.
    2) Sleep is for weenies and wusses :-) The rest of us survive on coffee. Also, cats rule the house, LOL!! Hope you get some much needed sleep tonight.
    3) That feral kitty will have a much better life if you’re able to capture him. Fingers crossed!
    4) Hmmm, should I worry about you losing weight with no explanation? Although I have done that during stress–I suspect we think we’re eating more than we are sometimes.
    5) I can’t wait to hear your verdict on the audio version of Black Dagger Series. I gave that one up years ago. My logic didn’t jive with the storyline–and that’s just me.

The poppy people are back and closing down road, LOL! I’m really striving to keep a sense of humor and stay home. Hope you and LG have a great weekend!

Viki, you’re right, some people are stupid and ruin it for everyone else. This weekend, however, they’re bringing in a lot of law enforcement. Thanks on Maggie, and I’m ticked at my book :-) Now for you:

    1) Enjoy the snow, I imagine it’s going to stop soon now that spring is here. Maybe :-)
    2) I’m really sorry about your thumbs :-(
    3) Harrison’s folks are opposite of CPA Boy and Special K–they try to do everything, and Turbo gets tired. Well actually, they’re trying to pack everything in CPA Boy’s rare time off right now with tax season, so it’s understandable. But Harrison would have so much fun going to dinner with you!
    4) Vaseline helps stop or slow cats’ throwing up? I learned something new! And poor Spunk, I didn’t realize he was doing that! I’m glad you found something that helps.
    5) Those sound like beautiful glasses! You should enjoy your wine in style! I have two beautiful etched crystal wine glasses the kids gave me one year, and we use them whenever the mood strikes us.

I hope you and hubby have both fully recovered and have a great weekend!
