Weekend Roundup

A quiet weekend for me! I refused to go out into the poppy-apocalypse  traffic, except to run necessary errands close to home. However, kudos to the city, county and state agencies, including law enforcement, for really stepping up to improve and control things much better!

As for writing, I think the fact that I used a scrub brush on my kitchen floor to clean the grout might illustrate how much I avoided writing. I knew it would cause me pain, but physical pain is better than the endless mental battle pain. I don’t think anyone would be surprised to learn that while I’m personally very happy (truly!), I’ve been a little depressed professionally. I now regret all the times I thought Writer’s Block might just be a little laziness. HA!!! I’ve worked untold hours with easily a thousand pages on this book–it’s not laziness, it’s…

You know what? Let’s not talk about it. I will fight my way though because that’s how I am. I love all my characters and I’m going to give them all the happy ending they deserve. Justice and Liza, and one day, Eli and Ram from the Wing Slayers (even if no one is left to read their stories!)

In the meantime, this weekend I read a psychological thriller I loved, STILLHOUSE LAKE by Rachel Caine. One thing I know for sure, reading books I love, and lots of them, will help me with that elusive breakthrough I’m searching for. I really loved the pacing, and stayed up late reading. Although according to Wizard, I never sleep anyway, LOL!

Now I really want to know, how was your weekend? I hope none of your are caught up in the awful flooding in Nebraska and surrounding states of the midwest. It’s been terrible to see all those lives, farms, homes and businesses severely impacted or destroyed. Please tell me you all are okay.

I’ll still be here to read Eli’s and Ram’s story!! All good here. A few towns around us had to be evacuated because of flooding in Iowa and my Aunt was stranded for a few days on an island. As long as the rains stay sporadic we should be okay. The poppies look amazing! Too bad people are idiots. Have an amazing day.

As long as you’re here to remind me, I’ll be here to read your stories. (I tend to forget about things if they aren’t right in my face.) And as to the writing slump, I think a lot of us are in it right now. Hang in there. And I’ll hang in here. We’ll see the end of this eventually. :hugs: Glad you managed to avoid the Poppy-pocalypse.

No flooding here in SW MO. It’s all way north of here. We didn’t even get the storms they were predicting for yesterday afternoon. Blew north and south of us. The lake level’s holding steady at ‘winter pool’, which is 915′ above sea level. (That year it flooded around here it reached 934′.) Quiet weekend again. Not much happening around here. The usual.

I’ll be here. And I totally feel you on the writing front. I haven’t done much of anything beyond tearing up virtual pages for six months now.

Yay on the local government. Sometimes it takes a little time to get a handle on things, especially when dealing with huge crowds.

My weekend was pretty quiet though we did help with a surprise birthday for two awesome veterans–93 and 80, respectively. Good guys. The rest of the weekend was spent staring at my computer screen. And watching baseball. :)

I’ll be here too :). It will come when it’s ready. Not happy that you hurt yourself cleaning the grout. Bet Wizard was shaking his head at you but then got you a glass of wine.

Smart staying home with all those rude morons out there.

I really enjoy Rachel Caine glad you do too.

Our weekend was good. Did a tiny bit of spring cleaning and bought some silk flowers for my soup tureen that was my Gram’s. I keep it on this hand crave Bavarian table I have in what most would call a living room – I call it the piano room ;).

Hope you are having a great day!

Labrat11, thanks on Eli and Ram’s stories! That make me happy if I can just get through this book so I can write their stories.

Oh yeah, I saw Iowa getting hit hard too. I hope you all get a much needed break.

The hills are gorgeous! I’m spoiled because I have a nice view of them when I take Maggie for walks.

Hope your week is off to a great start!

B.E., I’m the same way, I forget books I want to read if I’m not reminded. I totally get that! The writer’s slump sucks for any of us going through it.

I’m happy your community isn’t affected by the flooding. As long as the lake doesn’t flood, that’s good news for you. I was looking at some aerial footage of the flooding yesterday, and it’s utterly devastating.

Quiet weekends trump bad weekends, and hopefully your week is starting off right!

Silver, I didn’t realize it’d been that long for you! I guess we both in that same boat. It’s not fun.

You’re right on taking time to get a handle on the crowds, especially when it was unexpected, at least in those numbers. I actually think they coordinated all the agencies in record time. And some things like sources but shuttle buses takes time too. So at this point, I’m frustrated but not mad at anyway except the people who can’t follow directions, rules or laws.

What a lovely thing to have a surprise birthday for the veterans! As for staring at the computer–bleh. Hopefully watching baseball distracted you, and cheered you up if your teams won.

    Happy Monday!

Viki, I was just sore, not really hurt. I took some ibuprofen, took it easy the rest of the night and was fine. Wizard’s over a lot of that crazy protectiveness, and he knew the floor was driving me out of my mind. Today, I went to the gym. I’m trying hard to carefully get stronger.

I’m pretty sure I ‘ve read Rachel Caine’s paranormals before, but I didn’t know she wrote suspense. Glad you like her too!

You’re all ready for spring with the cleaning, silk flowers in the pretty soup tureen and your new purse you showed me on FB :-) And why not call your living room the piano room? I would if I had a piano, LOL!

Hope your week is off to a good start.
