Weekend Roundup

I’m tired after a long, busy weekend, so forgive my typos.

The Good: Part 2 of Wizard’s birthday was so fun and relaxing! We went to Middle Son’s, had pizza, we gave Wizard his big gift from all of us (it was a milestone birthday for him this year), and we had a blast going for rides in Middle Son’s Razer off-road vehicle. It’s like a dune buggy. And I got two rides cause I had my daughter-in-law take me out too :-) She loves driving it and I loved hanging out with her. It surprised Wizard and my sons that we did this for some reason, LOL! Eventually, once I’m fully healed, I’d love to try to drive it too :-) Wizard has had a good birthday, and he truly deserves it.

The Weird. Maggie and Jett (Middle Son and daughter in law’s dog) did great together again. However, at one point, Maggie got possessive about something and growled at Jett. I was shocked, and put an immediate stop to that. The hilarious thing is Jett–who is three times her size–submitted to her. Later, she was laying in his favorite sunspot on the floor and poor Jett cried because he wanted to lay there, but was scared of Maggie. I made Maggie move, and he happily snoozed in his spot. OH! And Maggie was doing GREAT with Middle Son, even rolling over and showing him her belly. She never does that with boys or men! While I don’t like the one episode of possessive growling, seeing it and dealing with it is part of expanding her world and socializing her more and more. Jett is easily one of the sweetest dogs I know. In fact we left the two dogs alone together in the house a few times for short periods and they were fine.

The Bad. Many of you saw my FB post, so I’ll keep this the short version. A CHP (California Highway Patrol) officer was killed this weekend by an (allegedly) drunk and very reckless driver while the officer was conducting a traffic stop between two of our city exits. He was there helping control poppy traffic, and most of us in our town are incredibly sad and angry. We didn’t know him, but our hearts break for him and his loved ones. We’ve now had two major accidents in two consecutive weekend in this same place.

So that was weekend, how was yours?

Sounds like you had a fun weekend and I’m glad Wizard had a nice birthday celebration. And I’m glad Maggie and Jett are getting along well – even with a bit of growling. Yes, I saw the FB post and officers getting killed by driving morons pisses me right the hell off. It seems like it’s a daily occurrence lately.

The weekend here was nice, so I was out taking care of the gardens. So many weeds. Ugh. But I’m the one who put in all these gardens and I really do love how they look once the weeding is done. They’ll never be ‘Better Homes and Gardens’ worthy, but they make me happy. Other than weeding, the weekend was mostly editing, reading, and watching TV. And trying to generate book sales – the never-ending struggle of self-publishing. Blerg.

I loved all of the photos from Wizard birthday celebrations. Bet he got a good workout with Turbo at the kiddie play area ;).

Sounds like you have a bit of a daredevil in you ;). It won’t be long until you can drive the Razer. You’ll have a blast.

You know how smart dogs are and I bet Maggie picked up on Jett being a beta not an alpha so she took the role. It’s a good thing you were there to step in.

I am sick about the officer being killed too. My prayers are with his family. SO very upsetting.

My youngest son took me to a basketball game on Sunday. We had 1st row center seats. It was amazing! Too bad the CAVS really stink this year. The SPURS shortest guy was incredible. He rarely missed a shot and the CAVS were too blind or dumb to double team him :(.

Other than the game, it was a nice weather weekend but also a normal weekend ;).

    Have a great afternoon.

B.E., I’m with you on the officer’s death. So pointless–all because the driver had to be drunk and stupid. And yeah, it does happy way too much.

Weeding is tough work! However the payoff is your beautiful garden :-) The rest of your weekend sounded less strenuous, well except book sales–marketing is hard.

Hope your week is off to a good start.

Viki, yeah Maggie did figure out Jett is submissive. But I’m not letting her growl at him or anyone (canine or human) over a bone. I’m also really glad I saw it so I can be aware she might do that. Thanks on Wizard’s b-day! Right there with you (and B.E.) on the officer.

I’m glad you had a good time at the basketball game with your son, despire your home team losing. Wow on the shortest playering being the best–that seems unusual but kind of cook, except that he played for the other team, LOL! At least you had a good time!

Hope Monday is treating you right!
