Weekend Roundup

It was a quiet weekend, and I enjoyed it. I tried to work–but let’s not talk about that.

Maggie is loving the nice weather and has been really enjoying the backyard. Although we’ve had to have a chat with her about good manners as in, DON’T EAT YOUR FRIENDS!

So I was out back doing some stuff and moved a trash can, a lizard ran out and Maggie caught it. Dang she’s fast! She was so happy, dancing around and showing me the lizard with his tail sticking out the side of her mouth. I, being a very calm and mature woman, spun in circles while cringing and hopping up and down, all while screaming, “Put it down! Maggie, PUT IT DOWN! NO! DON’T EAT THE LIZARD!”

She dropped it, and the little guy ran under another trash can.

Ugh. He looked okay, but I don’t know for sure and I’m not moving the trash can to find out. Maggie isn’t biting down. For her, the game is to chase and catch. But the lizards won’t play, then she gets sad. So I told her, “Don’t eat your friends, and maybe they’ll play with you.”

I don’t think she’s getting it. She’s chased three more lizards that she’d flushed out–all of which got away. Go lizards! Sigh, she’s being a normal dog and hunting the fun critters that run. I do love that she’s spending a lot of time in the backyard having fun. She never barks like most of the other dogs around us, in fact she ignores them, nor is she destructive. She either lays in the sun, “helps” Wizard BBQ, or chases lizards.

Otherwise, I made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies (I blame B.E. for that, and Wizard says Thank You to B.E.), spent hours looking at houses online as we’re making a long-range plan and I tend to get obsessed about things like that, and I did a bunch of normal stuff.

Today, I’m going to try to hit the gym, then hit the book for a session of Kick Butt Writing instead of this endless P&A (Procrastination & Avoidance) I’ve been doing.

So how was your weekend?

:gigglesnort: You’re welcome, Wizard. =o) I’m glad Maggie is having fun chasing lizards and that she’s not eating them. Such a good girl. Looking at houses online is fun – even when you’re not actually planning to buy one. We do that a lot. Good luck hitting the gym and with the Kick Butt Writing. Yeah, I’m stuck in the P&A phase, too. Bleh.

I did get a minimal amount of editing done yesterday. Then I got distracted watching something called ‘Call the Midwife’. There was nothing on and Hubs decided to give it a try. It’s totally engrossing. Which is bad when you’re trying to work. Which is why I probably shouldn’t work in front of the TV. Other than that, I’m totally stuck in the Packrat Saga, wherein a pack rat is attempting to set up residence under the hood of my car and I am attempting to thwart her. The results of Round 4 will be revealed at sunup. :fingers crossed:

I am soooo totally P&A! Gonna get off that treadmill because it’s not burning calories–or doing anything else of use. Good luck getting to the gym, and Maggie is so cute. Yay for cookies. I need to try making sugar-free oatmeals again for G. He polished off the batch I bought from Wallyworld’s bakery.

B.E.’s packrat saga is as entertaining as it is frustrating for her. ;) Good luck with that, B.E.!

We had a cold, rainy weekend. I watched baseball, listened to more Ward books (so much that still irritates me but dang if she doesn’t have a way of sucking a reader into caring about the characters until you have to keep reading to find out what happens to them. If I’d started the series before it was mostly completed, I would have stopped reading but since I can do a marathon? I just keep checking the next book out of the library.

I also got invited to join a new limited anthology series–each author writes a different book about one of the core group of guys, with a February 2020 mass release date. It’s been fun brainstorming. Hopefully, that excitement will spill over to my stalled projects that really need to get written first.

On that note, time to skim through the internet, get more coffee, and get to work. I have a BUNCH of words to write! Have a great week, everyone.

You’re right. Maggie is just doing what dogs do. I must say she has a “soft” mouth and the lizard are fortunate ;).

I laughed out loud at 3 am when I read the blog and how Wizard benefited from B.E. and the cookies ;).

Hear you loud and clear on the house looking. We do the same thing ;). Hubs more so than me.

Today is not the best of days. My best friend’s dog lost her battle with cancer this morning. She was just in too much pain. Sandra gave her a strip steak in bed for breakfast and enjoyed it but couldn’t get up. They have a great vet who came to the house and helped her cross the bridge peacefully. This is the dog hubs and I went to see before taking Sandra out for dinner. She was a sweetheart.

Harrison took his parents to the Star Wars Convention in Chicago over the weekend. All the actor loved the kid ;). They had a blast. Driving home was not good -8 inches of snow. Here we had a dusting of snow.

I hope you had a great workout and a fantastic rest of your day!

B.E., I agree-looking at houses is fun! I like going to new home models too.

I made it to the gym, but still fighting P&A. Sorry you’re in that trap too :-(

I’ve never heard of “Call the Midwife.” I’ll have to look that up. I suck at watching TV and working. I can do little things like answer email and even make notes, but I end up too distracted to write.

YIKES on the packrats in the engine! We had that experience once. Wizard popped the hood and we found neat stacks of empty snails shells. We figured out to was rats and I wasn’t NOT amused. I’m not sure how Wizard solved that, and I’m pretty sure I don’t want to know. I hope you can win that battle!!

Hope your week is off to a good start!

Silver, before I forget, I read you explanation of why you’re reading JR Ward on Sunday, and yeah, I get it! She’s clearly very talented with a large following who love her characters. I love that your working so hard to figure out how she does it!

P&A sucks for all of us.

CONGRATS on being asked to join the anthology!! That’s awesome news, and may give you that spark you need! Brainstorming is the first step :-)

Hope you got a lot done today and your week is off to a strong start!

Viki, I hope Maggie keeps having the “soft mouth” cuz I don’t want to see what happens otherwise. But yeah, she’s being a dog.

Glad Wizard’s thank you to B.E. made you laugh :-)

Now for the sad part–I’m so very sorry your friends dog lost her battle with cancer. Your friend did the most loving thing, and I always mean that 100%. The dog is fine now, out of pain and at peace. But you guys are the one’s hurts. Hugs to you all.

I’m glad Harrison had such a good time at the convention! It sounds like Harrison might have stole the show, LOL! But wow, that had to be a scary drive home. I’m sure you breathed a huge sigh of relief once they were home safely.

I know you’re sad about your friend’s dog. Aside from that, I hope your day was decent, and the week gets better.
