Friday Five

TGIF! The weeks and months are racing by! I’m totally shocked that Sunday is Easter! Okay here’s five random things about my week:

  1. I ordered a dress for Youngest Son’s wedding in November. I’m excited for the wedding obviously! But I also wanted to get an early start after I had such a hard time finding a dress for Middle Son’s wedding. Shall we start betting how many dresses I’ll buy and return this time? LOL!!
  2. I booked Maggie at boarding for our Hawaii Vacay. They recognized me as “Maggie’s Mom” as soon as I walked in, which made me laugh. They were so nice, telling me Maggie does great there, and she’s one of the dogs they let “roam” the facility the most because she’s good and gets along with all the other dogs. That reassured me. Then she said, “And we all know she pees when we pick her up.” Umm…true. Maggie submissive pees, but I forget about it because she doesn’t do it at home, or with me at all, anymore. But with anyone else, yeah, she will if she’s unsure. But they’re used to all kinds of dogs with all kind of quirks, and just roll with it. Family has offered to take Maggie too, including my awesome sister, Biker Witch, and we thought about it. But we decided to keep her on the routine she knows, which is going to boarding. She always seems to have fun there.
  3. Today is CPA Boy’s birthday and we’re going out tonight to visit. We’ll pick up dinner, and I’m making cupcakes. I’m also taking Turbo a very small, age appropriate, Easter basket. CPA Boy just doesn’t get to be the center of attention anymore, even when it’s his birthday! That’s what he gets for giving me an amazing grandson :-)
  4. Middle Son and his wife are coming home from their Tahiti vacation/honeymoon today. From our family messaging loop, they appear to be having a great time! They deserved a special trip after going through some tough times.
  5. Short Girl Problems: So I had bought some shorts on sale, and I was very proud of that. I bought longer shorts than I’ve worn in the past since time is marching on, and I’m doing the world a huge favor :-). But I’m also short…so all that money I saved? I’m spending it on having the shorts hemmed.

Okay so that’s my five. We didn’t make any big plans for Easter. The weekend is looking pretty quiet, so I may FINALLY try to work. Now I’d love to hear five random things about your week! Hope everyone has a great weekend, and Happy Easter!

Good luck with the dress shopping! Poor Maggie with her stress-piddle. It’s probably scary to be a little dog. Happy Birthday, CPA Boy! And yes, Turbo gets prezzies, too. I hope Middle Son and his wife had a blast on their honeymoon!

    1) It’s the 5th morning in a row with no pack rat under the hood of my car, so my special mixture of scents seems to be working.
    2) My lilac bush has the most blooms it’s ever had and they smell awesome. Whatever I’m doing outside, I stop for a moment and sniff the blossoms.
    3) I made a cake and frosting from scratch over the weekend. The cake is okay, but the frosting is to die for.
    4) The bad storm they were calling for over the weekend missed us entirely. We just got some rain. Yay.
    5) I have no plans for Easter. Not even a special dinner. That may change when I’m at Wallyworld today.

Yay for Hawaii trip, and good times for MS and his Mrs., sweet Maggie, Happy B-Day, CPA boy and Turbo totally needs an Easter basket! My five…

    1) We got the storms before they missed B.E. but mostly some wind, pea-sized hail, and heavy rain. We can always use the rain.

    2) RDR #9 is going in a completely different direction form I’d originally planned. This might or might not be a good thing. But hey, I’m working. Sort of.

    3) The redbuds, bluebells, and wisteria bloomed, even during the freakish cold streaks. Now I’m waiting on the honeysuckle. I want the weather warmer so I can open my office window when the bush right outside goes full bore.

    4) Adidas is feeling better. She’s back to sleeping with me and getting around better. Also, she’s a pain because she wants to be in my lap anytime I’m at the computer. And she has the claws to get my attention! :P

    5) Tomorrow is OKRWA. We have a police officer coming to talk about collecting/using intelligence. I’ll compare notes, since that’s what I used to do. :D

Have a great weekend, everyone, and Happy Easter to those who celebrate.

    1. I laughed about gambling on how many dresses you buy. But, it’s best to keep going until you find the right one :).
    2. You’re smart to keep Maggie with what she’s used to. Many dogs have the nervous pee. Maggie is not alone.
    3. Happy Birthday CPA boy!!! Of course her has to share the spotlight with Turbo, all parents do :).
    4. You will have a great time catching up with Middle son and DIL. Bet they will have beautiful photos to share.
    5. Totally understand short girl issues. Sorry you have to have the shorts hemmed. I just stick to short shorts. I’m not out to impress any one and they’re not really that short on 5’2″ me ;).

1a. Hurt my back shopping today. Aches. Will be putting a heating pad on soon.
2a. Hubs fish tonight is tuna fish sandwiches made with hot cherry peppers and Havarti cheese. It’s what I like ;).
3a. The middle + DIL and youngest will be here for Easter dinner. Harrison is going to his Great Grandma’s with his parents :). I’m going to make (put together) a lemon pie. Saw it on line and it’s no work at all.
4a. Because of the above we are trying to get Harrison’s parents to agree to go out to dinner with us tomorrow.
5a. Rain Rain and more Rain!

Have a great weekend and Happy Easter!

B.E, I think sometimes it is scary to be a little dog. People treat them like toys, rather than animals. It’s a pet peeve of mine since I worked at the animal shelter a gazillion and two years ago :-) But Maggie is loads better than she used to be with her small dog anxiety, and had developed a great deal of confidence, so it’s all good. And they are very good to her at boarding. Now for you:

    1) Crossing my fingers the packrats found another place to set up house besides your car. Pretty smart of you to use scents to deter them!
    2) How pretty! And I love that fresh scent of flowers like that.
    3) Yum! I’m on the fence about making homemade cakes, depending on what it is. But frosting or icing is always better homemade!
    4) Glad the storm missed you (thought it appears to have stopped by Silver’s place)
    5) Maybe you found something special for Easter Dinner. I went to Wal Mart today too.

Hope you have a good weekend!

Silver, I *had* to get Turbo an Easter basket, even if it’s just a little one. :-)

    1) Glad the storm wasn’t worse, but that sounds bad enough.
    2) I hope RDR takes off in this new direction and you can’t type fast enough to keep up! You’re due for a break from the struggle. So am I–but that’s another endless story.
    3) Spring has sprung! Hope your honeysuckle blooms soon for you.
    4) Great news that Adidas is feeling better! Demanding attention and lapspace with her claws means she’s doing as well as can be expected for a cat of her mature years.
    5) I’d go to that workshop! I love hearing cops, even when it’s a repeat of what I think I know. But of course, you have actual experience, but I bet it’s still interesting to you. Everyone has a different process.

I know today is a tough day, I was thinking of you. Hope you have a good weekend!

Viki, I’m hoping to get lucky and this is the dress. It’s long, which is a nice change. That’s exactly why I stayed in shorter shorts longer than I should have. I’m 5’3ish. Hopefully these work out once their hemmed. Let’s talk about you!

    1) Oh no, I’m so sorry you hurt your back. Shopping can do it!
    2) Hope dinner is delicious!
    3) Lemon pie appeals to me, I bet everyone there will love it! You’ll miss Harrison, but we have to share :-)
    4) Dinner tomorrow night seems very reasonable since you don’t get to see Harrison on Easter. In our case, Turbo’s parents offered to come out Easter Sunday–but Wizard had plans, so we’re going out there tonight. But they were willing! they are doing their Easter Sat night with her family. We all try to be flexible, probably like you all do.
    5) You’re getting that much rain? I haven’t noticed lately since we seem to be on the run doing random life things. Hope you get a break from it soon!

I really hope your back feels better, than you get to see Harrison tomorrow night and have a great Easter with the rest of your family!
