Weekend Roundup

How is it June already????

Saturday we went out to visit Turbo. He was adorable as always. Wizard and Turbo were playing together a lot and having a great time–until Wizard was holding him to take a picture, and took his glasses off. Turbo freaked out a little bit and reached out for me. That was interesting. Turbo hadn’t cried once through going out to breakfast, going by the new house, then back home to play some more. I’m not sure if Turbo just got tired, or it confused him when Wizard took his glasses off.

When Wizard put them back on, Turbo stopped crying. Toddlers are wonderful and weird creatures :-)

I have a quick video on my FB page of Turbo eating a chocolate chunk cookie that I made. If you haven’t seen it and are interested, this link should take you to it.

Sunday was a little mixed. The good part was I got to plot with a friend on her project, and we ended up talking for two hours on the phone. She moved out of California years ago and I miss her. Catching up like that is priceless. Plus her project is awesome! And it’s nice to think about someone else’s story! The second good thing is I spent a short amount of time working on a scene I plan to insert to increase tension in my book. I haven’t worked much at all, so any work is good!

The icky thing is Maggie was in the planter that surrounds the pool, and she clearly had found something unusual. My first thought was OMG, not another snake! I called her inside, then went to check it out.

It wasn’t a snake.

It was a rabbit head. Just the ears and the top of the head, like it had been scalped. Sometimes, it sucks living at the base of the Cleveland National Forest. There are a lot of rabbits, I see then all the time when I’m out walking in the field. And yes, it was absolutely real. Our best guess is that a hawk had it, and it dropped the remains while flying over. Nothing else makes sense as there wasn’t any blood or other surprises in our yard or the pool (we’ve found dead rabbits in the pool, unfortunately).

Wizard got rid of it.

Maggie sulked. Evidently she thought she’d found something very interesting. Me…not so much. I like seeing the live bunnies hopping around the field, not as the remains of some critter’s meal.

Today, I plan to go back to the gym. I haven’t been since we went to Hawaii, so I’ll have to go slow and work back up. Then home to write.

How was your weekend?

Mmmm. *crams in more cookie* Ahahahha. He. Is. Too. CUTE! And yeah, if he’s used to seeing Wiz in his glasses, he would freak a little when Wiz took them of. Strange and wonderful indeed. :) Poor Maggie. That was her prezzie! And yeah, probably a hawk. They gotta eat too. It’s nesting time. And, they eat snakes so…there’s that.

I had a weekend. I think. LG and I are both sleep deprived for…reasons. I should be able to review the whys later this week. It’s mostly all to the good so there’s that, too.

No writing, though. I’m so freaking far behind and this week is going to be crazy too.

Stormegeddon had his first T-ball game Saturday. Except a T-storm blew up out of nowhere and drenched everyone with buckets of rain, plus lightning and 60 mph winds. We’d just gotten there so we stayed dry, thankfully. The kids went home to change and then met us at our favorite Mexican restaurant for a late lunch. LG had stuff at the Post before and after and didn’t get in until almost 2 a.m. And Sunday was busy with the stuff I might be able to talk about later.

I’m sleep deprived too for…reasons. I brought it on myself so no one to blame but me.

And now I’m 6K words behind. *headdesk* I gotta do some marathon writing this week and next. *flail* And I need a grocery run. Gonna try writing, then break for errands, then more writing.

    Have a great week!

I loved the video of James eating his grandma’s homemade cookie. It’s nice that his parents let him have one. Poor Harrison’s mom and dad don’t let him. BUT, you turn around when we’re out for dinner and his mom is giving him whipped cream off her dessert. I say nothing but I do bite my tongue rather hard ;).

Oh my, Wizard must have been crushed. The little ones handle change in many different ways. I’m sure if Wizard takes his glasses off around him now and then it won’t be as shocking to the little guy.

Yuck on the rabbit head. I’ve had eagles and hawks drop all kinds of parts in my driveway. One was a muskrat. I don’t even know how the raptor got flight with the thing.

Nice that you got to catch up with your friend. Plotting together must have been fun for both of you.

I had coffee for the last time with my buddy before she moves to FL this week :(. She will be back now and then since her kids are up here and she won’t give up her stylist ;).

Harrison met his great grandfather on Saturday. They stayed at his place in WV over night before going to Hilton Head yesterday. Now the bad part. He hates the sand. He hates the ocean. He hates the pool. He loves the hotel room (he always loves the rooms whenever they are in a hotel for conventions). I hope it gets better. His poor parents.

    Have a really wonderful day!

Silver, Turbo definitely enjoyed his cookie :-) Yeah, I know, it’s all part of the food chain. Maggie was very proud of her find, LOL!

You have me REALLY curious what’s going on in your life! Sorry about the insomnia though, and the deadline panic. It’s not a good feeling. I hope you can get some sleep and words to calm that burn.

Wow that was a heck of a surprise T-storm! Hope everyone enjoyed lunch, and wow, LG got home late (or early).

Still choking on my curiosity about the mystery stuff!

Happy Monday, and hope you get some sleep tonight!

Viki, Turbo’s parents surprise me. They let him try everything within reason, and are really becoming pretty easy going. It helps that Turbo has older cousins who are around a lot, so he’s exposed to much more from them than he would be otherwise.

Someone needs to tell these birds it’s rude to drop their remains in our yards. But then, humans drop trash in their spaces. Sigh.

How cute is it that Harrison loves hotel rooms? However, his not liking the ocean, sand or pools has to be frustrating. My middle son was very afraid of water at that age, but a lot of gentle patience and encouragement got him through that pretty quickly. Hopefully Harrison learns to like the sand and water soon too.

And that’s awesome that Harrison got to meet his great grandfather!!

Oh man, I’m sorry for you that your friend is moving. I know you’re happy for her though. And thankfully, it’s easier than ever to keep in touch. I laughed at the part where she won’t give up her stylist! I get that :-)

Hope your week is off to a good start!
