Weekend Roundup

Yep, summer has arrived in my area! I know many of you are still dealing with rains and floods, so I don’t have any right to complain about the 100 degree heat :-) Aside from a nagging headache (it’s sinus/allergy/neck related) and a minor knife incident, it was really good weekend!

Friday, I started to write, then had an idea. What if I made ribs and chicken on Saturday when Turbo brings out his parents? This, of course, required a trip to the store, lots of prep and, somehow, I ended up making chocolate covered graham crackers because I know how to do procrastination! Why write when I can, run around prep and cook?

In a total aside here: I have had a brain scan and been deemed “normal.” Yes, I’m frantic about not writing, then I find ways not to write, and yet…the doctors have literally called my brain normal.

But let’s get back on track, shall we? Saturday morning, I was doing some prep, and Wizard decided to question why I bought so many ribs, and why was I doing all this work now? It wasn’t a party.

This is NOT where the knife incident got involved. Nope, I may have snarled, but no knives were involved.

Fast forward to dinner, and Wizard had two big servings of ribs and proclaimed them “really good.” And after dinner, he was excited that we had just enough left to have again on Sunday.

Hm…it’s almost like I knew what I was doing????

But I just smiled, and again, no knives were involved.

So what was the knife incident? Sigh…I think that my the bread knife in my beloved knife set might be out to get me. Several years ago, it jumped off the counter and broke my little toe. Then Saturday night, Special K was doing dishes as I cleaned up, and it once again jumped off the counter. I leapt back, but it managed to nick my leg just above my knee.

Seems pretty obvious that the bread knife is out to get me, right?

It’s basically just a long scratch, but evidently it’s a very dramatic scratch that craved attention. That sucker would not stop bleeding. It was just stupid-embarrassing.  As much as I really want to blame the knife, my normal brain has convinced me that an inanimate object can’t really be out to get me, LOL. The truth is I was too busy chatting with Special K and watching Turbo play to pay attention to what I was doing.

Aside from that, it was a great day and we had so much fun with Turbo!

Sunday, Biker Witch and I had coffee and did a little bit of shopping. It was great to see her, however Biker Witch is facing a not-fun back surgery. She’ll get through this and be fine. But I hate that I can’t fix this for her.

So that was my weekend, how was yours?

Yep, we can always find things to do other than writing. The list is endless. Mmm, ribs. Sorry you got attacked by the knife. Yay for Turbo fun! Positive thoughts for Biker Witch. :hugs:

My life is infinitely boring. I read a lot. Watched a lot of TV. And just generally laid around. Of course, I was reading one of Allison Brennan’s books, so I generally don’t get much done when that happens.

Knives are dangerous for a reason! And they totally have sentience. Just sayin’… Glad you’re okay. Ribs! Now I want some!!! #hungry Poor Biker Witch. She’ll be better after though. And very yay for Turbo, Special K and family time.

I napped. Often. Tired of being tired and stressed but stuff happens.

T-ball did NOT get rained out Saturday. We took Jake and he was perfect. You’d think he’d been trained as a service dog. He’s so very good and we alread love him.

In other fuzzy children news, Loki is a ninja cat. He’d escaped his nursery this morning. Catching him was “fun.”

Writing? What is this activitiy of which you speak?

I’ve discovered there really isn’t enough coffee in the world.

Oh, and we woke up to monsoon rains on Sunday. Fun times. Sorry for your heat. Despite the flooding, I think I’ll take the rain. It’s in the mid-70s today. A real treat for us!

I WILL get words written today. I did find an oops in the timeline Saturday and managed to get it worked out. Didn’t pick up many new words but editing and future story will work out better.

    Later, gators!

I saw how hot it is on the west coast. I feel for you. Hate the heat. So happy you were able to get the air fixed before the heat wave took hold.

Two days of ribs is a winner in my book :). When will our men realize that we really do know what we’re doing in the kitchen ;)? Heck, I’ve been cooking full blown meals since I was 7 (single mom so I had to cook). Every time hubs questions me I just give him that “look” and he walks away.

That naughty bread knife! I remember when it broke your toe. Now it’s cut your leg. It may need a time out. It’s easy to see how Turbo would have captured your attention. The little guys are so cute and it’s really fun to watch them play.

Nice that you and Biker Witch had coffee and some shopping. I will keep her on my prayer list. Hope all goes smoothly with the back surgery.

It has rained quiet a bit here too. It’s supposed to stop this evening and be nice tomorrow. Sure hope so.

    Have a great afternoon :)!

B.E., It’s true, there’s always something else–today we went to see Wizard’s mom, which is important. Thanks on Biker Witch!

Of course nothing else gets done when you have a book by Allison. That makes complete sense to me :-) And I never think of your life as boring–I don’t get to see pregnant deer wandering around my back yard!

Hope your week is off to a good start.

Silver, I actually really love that bread knife, so I’m confused as to why it doesn’t love me, LOL! Thank you on Biker Witch.

I can see why you’re tired enough to nap! Loki is definitely keeping you hopping. Did he think the game of chase-and-capture was fun? LOLOL!! But she’s a cute kitten. Of course, it’s Jacob who I’m in love with cause I’m a dog person. I like cats, but dogs!!!

    I hear you on coffee.

It’d be nice if you guys could have a little less rain, and us a little less heat.

Fixing the oops on the timeline counts as writing, and I’m betting you got a few words down today! I’m trying after I post this–most of my day was taken up visiting my mother in law, but she’s more important than work and I’m glad we went.

Hopefully your week is off to a less chaotic and more productive start!

Viki, me too on the air! I’m so glad I turned it on last week when it was only semi-hot.

I’ve used that look too, LOL! I didn’t start cooking quite as young as you, but we’ve both had enough experience that we know what we’re doing, Or we’ll ask for advice.

Man that toe thing hurt way more than this little scratch. I didn’t even realize I was cut for probably 30 seconds, and even then it was just a mild sting. More importantly, Turbo’s dad and grandpa kept him out of the kitchen when we were cleaning, so he wasn’t in the knife’s path.

Thank you on Biker Witch–I appreciate it. I do expect her to come through fine, she’s pretty tough when she has to be. It was great to have some time with her too.

Hope you get a break from the rain and have a nice week!
