Weekend Roundup

This weekend, we worked on a project with Youngest Son (BLB) and his fiance. I’m excited for them, but until that’s all finalized, I can’t say more :-)

We also bought a new dishwasher. Not really exciting, just necessary. My old dishwasher has been great, it’s just wearing out from a lot of use. We should find out today when the new one will be installed. Fingers crossed nothing goes wrong installing it.

On Saturday, Wizard decided to clean the downstairs windows while I was gone doing errands. He soon realized our screens are old, so he rescreened all the windows. We have a lot of windows, so that was a ton of work. But Wizard being Wizard, kept going over two days until he got them all finished. I sure appreciate it! We’ll wash the upstairs windows together, probably today, and that project will be checked off as done.

As for me, I got an non-writing related idea. Remember the TV stand I was excited about? Well we didn’t put the doors on, because the satellite receiver and other equipment tends to get hot. But the doors are pretty–a distressed gray wood with glass inserts. So I decided to repurpose those into frames, and that set off a round of going to stores to figure out how I wanted to hang them. I decided to use pictures from our Hawaii trip, which meant I had to search through 100 pictures in our digital files and get them printed. That turned out to be a comedy of stupid errors (mostly mine) that resulted in me having to have some of the pictures reprinted twice. But that’s done, and here’s how it turned out (this is a small wall, and you can see part of my office on the right of it):

Anyhow, this little idea somehow turned in to A Project. Or possibly a way to avoid writing, LOL

We also had the 7.1 earthquake roughly 100 miles away, and we definitely felt it here. This far out from the epicenter felt like a slow roll similar to being on a boat. While there’s significant damage to area around the epicenter, the injuries are minor and no known deaths. We were incredibly fortunate. Were that size and intensity of an earthquake to happen in one of the more densely populated areas of Southern California, we likely would have had severe injuries and fatalities.

So that was most of my weekend, how was yours?

Oh, you and your teasers. =op Fingers crossed for an easy dishwasher delivery/install. Yay for Wizard! Can he come rescreen our windows? Your procrastination project turned out pretty! And I’m so glad you weren’t effected by the earthquake.

It was another weekend here. Hubs mowed the lawn, despite the heat. Prior to that, I did yard ninja – taking a broom and walking the entire yard knocking down spider webs. We got our bathrooms cleaned. Other than that, the usual – reading, TV, walking, eating. The golf tournament had an exciting end. ‘Endeavour on Masterpiece’ had an exciting and satisfying end to its season. It’s all good. ;o)

Sounds like an eventful weekend! Love the pic-framing. Good idea. :) Fingers crossed for a good outcome for BLB/Youngest and Fiancee. 🤞 Hope the earth stands still for a long time. Scary! Yay for the new dishwasher.

There was a weekend. I got pancakes but no Mexican food. That’s okay. I also got some words written. Better than nothing, right? :) Gonna be a long week, though. Plus it’s been Monday. All day. Which is why I’m just now getting around to blogs and stuff.

    Have a great week, everyone!

You had a very busy weekend. Can’t wait to hear BLB’s news.

Hope the new dishwasher arrives soon. I need a new one soon too. Did you go stainless inside?

Wizard is such a good guy. My windows and screens need cleaning again. How about sending him up to OH ;)?

You made great use of the TV stand doors. Love your use of the photos from Hawaii. They look great in the distressed frame.

Have had you all in my prayers all weekend. So glad there were no fatalities from the quakes. How did Maggie handle the quakes?

Hubs felt good enough to drive to the party in NY. I’m glad we went. My cousin was so happy we came. I never told her that we almost cancelled.

My mom was there and she looks so good. Better than she has in years. She went on her version of the Keto diet and has lost a ton of weight. But her skin color and everything just looked amazing. Very happy for her.

    Have a great evening!

B.E., still waiting to hear on dishwasher instal, but we did buy it during a holiday weekend. Thanks on frames, and yes, Wizard can re-screen. He swears it’s not hard, but I’d screw it up for sure.

Ugh on the heat. Hubs is a trooper to mow the yard despite it being so hot! We have to do that spider web hunt out on our patio, too. Glad golf was exciting and that your TV view was all around satisfying.

Hope your week is off to a good start! I’ve been playing catch up on my Monday all day, LOL!

Silver, thanks on all! I suspect the earth is on the move in So Cal for a while here after 20 years of smaller, unremarkable quakes. But hopefully they won’t rise to the level of devastating.

Well you had a half win on food with the pancakes. I really like pancakes :-) I like Mexican food too, but it’s not always kind to me. I know you’re on deadline, so go, Go, GO!! I’m pulling for you if that helps at all.

    Happy Monday!

Viki, I can’t remember if it’s stainless on the inside, LOL! It had all that we wanted though, for a good price.

Thanks of BLB, the frames, etc. No luck on getting Wizard to go to OH, he’s pretty booked just helping the kids and his mom out these days. I would never have asked him to do our screens, but he got ambitious and tackled it when I was out doing errands. He tends to keep busy.

That’s wonderful that hubs felt better and you were able to go to NY to celebrate with your cousin, and see your mom. I hope he heals quickly now. Sometimes, it’s just getting over that hump IF he continues to rest and listen to you :-) I really love hearing how good your mom looks! Good for her finding a good diet to help her feel better.

I hope you have a great week!!
