Friday Five

TGIF! Okay let’s jump right into sharing five random things about our week. Here’s mine:

  1. It’s been a quiet week compared to most weeks lately. So yay! I got a little writing done too. I’m moving through rewriting, and hitting the halfway point.  I will finish this book! The good news is my concentration is improving. It’s a slow process, and sometimes frustrating, but it is definitely happening.
  2. Maggie was a little sore for a day or so from her DHPP booster shot on Tuesday, but her appetite was normal. That’s much better than the Rabies vaccine which upsets her stomach for a few days. Thankfully we only have to do that one every three years now. The side effects are a small price to pay though, as the vaccines save our pets from being desperately sick, and/or dying, from specific diseases. By the way, Maggie never complains or whines, we just noticed she’s slow and favoring the one leg, so we encouraged her to rest more.
  3. After a consultation with two lawyers, Wizard and I are finally getting our affairs in order, so to speak. This is something we’ve said we were going to do for five years. Not that we procrastinate or anything, LOL! However it feels good to get that sorted out and in progress. We are both fine, this is just one of those things that’s on our list of things to do.
  4. Apparently, Turbo has been saying Maggie’s name since he went home after spending the night here. Not Grandma or Grandpa :-( Nope, he’s been saying Maggie. How cute is that?
  5. Saturday, we are going to CPA Boy’s and Special K’s house to celebrate Special K’s birthday. Maggie has a special invitation because of #4 :-)

See? My week was quieter than usual, and next week is looking like it might be reasonable too. Now it’s your turn to share five things about your week! I hope everyone has a terrific weekend!

Yay for a quiet week! Yep, shots are a bummer, Maggie, but so necessary. Good for you for getting your affairs in order – also a bummer, but necessary. Maggie sure has a buddy in Turbo. Yay! And finally, Happy Birthday to Special K! I hope it’s an awesome one. =o)

    1) We got deluged by rain again last night. It’s been a splooshy October so far. Have to wait for the sun to come up to see how much more water got dumped on us. Some places around here are talking 2-5 inches. I hope it’s more on the 2 side than the 5 side.
    2) Made a big vat of chili yesterday. I also went shopping, so the fridge and freezer we almost too full for the 3 containers of leftover chili. It’s a good problem to have.
    3) The wooded lot owners have started cleaning it out so they can build their new house. It’s kind of startling to look out and see dirt instead of overgrowth. That rain probably didn’t do it any good. I imagine we’ll see ravines and gullies over there today.
    4) The chilly weather is starting to drive the bugs inside. We got a biggish wolf spider on a sticky trap in the garage. I killed it rather than let it suffer, but ew.
    5) Speaking of chilly, I kicked the house over to the heater instead of the AC this week. I’m not one of those ones who wait. As soon as it’s colder in the house than it would be if the furnace was on, I turn it on. I like it at 69 or 70. I woke up and it was 68, so bam. Ahhhh. =o)

Neil Gaiman (I think that’s who it is–I’m old and have slept since then… 👵 ), has a form for assignment of an author’s rights in a will. I’ve got it in my files somewhere if you want a copy. Also you, B.E. Sweet Maggie and Turbo and yay for birthdays! Also, yay for writing!. My five:

    1) My Cards made it into the NLDS with a decisive 10-run 1st inning against the Braves in the deciding game of the playoffs. They take on the Nationals tonight. If they win the division, then on to the World Series!

    2) The cold weather finally arrived. Frost warning last night, freeze warning tonight. Stormy’s 9 a.m. soccer game tomorrow is going to be BRRRRRR!!!!⚽ 🥶

    3) Speaking of Stormy, he was here yesterday until 4 and today until after 5. Fall Break or school meetings, or something. Anyway, he’s here. I’m getting stuff done in between cartoons and play time. He did go to Walmart with me yesterday and “conned” me into a ginormous tub of cheese balls. Today, we’re going to the library. 📚

    4) I have 19 messages on the answering machine. They’re all hang-ups or spam calls. So much for the no-call list. 🙄

    5) Speaking of the weather, I need to remember to unfasten the hoses and stick them in the garage. I meant to do that yesterday but got distracted by cheese balls. 🤦

    Have a great weekend, everyone!

    1. A quiet week is good. Nice work on the book :). The thing is to get it the way you want it, not just finish it. You have to be happy and we will be too :).
    2. Poor Maggie. I didn’t realize her leg would be sore from the shot but I guess it’s just like when children get shots.
    3. You and Wizard are smart. I can’t get hubs to do anything. He thinks he knows best but I am 10 years younger and I don’t feel all that comfortable – MEN!
    4. How cute that Turbo is saying Maggie’s name. They have a bond.
    5. Have a wonderful time at Special K’s birthday party. I know Maggie and Turbo will ;).

1a. We’re going to Harrison’s 2nd birthday party tomorrow. His parents have already given him his gifts from them and Cassie’s dad. Yesterday they gave him an outdoor play house that he loves. Today, his other grandpa arrived from UT and bought him a Thomas bed, I bought the bedding, and set it up. The boy has never slept a night in his own room so maybe a big boy bed will do the trick.
2a. Decided it was going to turn into fall this weekend and we needed comfort food so I’m making meatloaf ;) ;).
3a. Middle son and DIL’s kitty (Muffin) is doing a bit better. She spent 5 days and nights going to and from and even staying at the vet. It’s thought that she may have IBS. I hope so because you can treat that.
4a. The new drive was not up to my standards so they sealed it yesterday. We’re all out on the road until Saturday afternoon.
5a. Major Spectrum difficulties all week. My boxes failed and so did two sets of replacement boxes. After 3 trips out here it looks like things are working. Fingers crossed.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

B.E., sorry for the late reply! Life got in the way :-) Okay let’s talk about you:

    1) Wow you got a lot of rain. Hope your weekend is dry.
    2) It’s great to have leftovers in the freezer, ready to go.
    3) I would guess the rain’s definitely creating more hurdles for the neighbors to clear and build.
    4) Eww. I can and do kill spiders when then invade my territory. I’m not terribly afraid of them, I just really don’t want them in my house or garage. I do feel for them on the sticky traps though.
    5) If I lived in a colder climate, I might do the same thing. My furnace is still off.

Hope your weekend is going well!

Silver, sorry I’m two days late! And thank you so much for the offer of the form, but the lawyer has that covered. I’ve been spending snatches of time organizing all the info for him, then redoing it a gazillion times to make it simpler. Good times. Now for you:

    1) Yay for your Cards! I haven’t followed where they are today, but hopefully doing well.
    2) Hope the soccer game yesterday wasn’t too cold, and Stormy had fun!
    3) Tub of cheese balls…bwhahahaha!! I see that kind of stuff in my future too. Turbo can talk me into almost anything that’s not dangerous. I hope you got a few things done around Stormy Time.
    4) The Do-Not-Call list made me :-x
    5) Okay, once again I was reading fast, and I read “unfasten the horses…” LOLOL! Hoses made much more sense. But it would be funny if you put horses in the garage :-)

Hope your having a great weekend!

Viki, once again, so sorry for the late answer! Let’s jump ahead to you:

    1) I hope Harrison had a great birthday party! Two years old! Time is going so fast. Has he slept in his bed?
    2) That’s funny, Wizard and I were just talking about meatloaf. I haven’t made it in years.
    3) I hope Middle’s kitty is continuing to improve. That sounded pretty scary.
    4) Are you back onto your freshly sealed driveway? Does it look great now?
    5) Fingers crossed the third box from Spectrum fixed the problem! I know how frustrating it is when it’s not working.

Hope your enjoying your weekend, and you had a great time with Harrison at his birthday yesterday!
