The Wedding!

And I’m back! Hopefully things will settle a little bit now. Yeah, I know, the holidays are coming so I’m dreaming. But right now, I feel like I have breather :-)

And now onto the wedding. It all came off beautifully! Here’s the bride and groom in a photo I stole from my new daughter-in-law’s social media:

They did their vows on a terrace outside the country club where the reception was held. When they got to the “Will you take this woman to be your wife?” part of the vows, the officiant only got out the first three words before my son answered, “I will!” Everyone laughed, and it was truly sweet to see my strong, silent son so eager to make his best friend, and the love of his life, his wife. Both of them radiated joy and excitement, and total confidence as they and their commitment to one another forever. The whole day and evening was filled with happiness.

One of the special moments for me was the mother-son dance. First, I didn’t know they were going to do it. Youngest hadn’t mentioned it (not kidding when I say he’s strong, silent type.) I was fine with skipping that part since I don’t dance well anyway. Then they announced the dance, and I glared at Wizard when he laughed. He was all done with his toast and happy to have all eyes off him. Anyhow, here’s my son and I in a cell phone shot Wizard took:

A little bit into the dance, Youngest said, “Do you recognize the song?”

I was pretty nervous, and just trying not to do anything stupid or clumsy,  so the song didn’t really register. Before I could answer, he said, “It’s an Elvis song, Mom. I picked it for you.”

Then I really heard “The Wonder of You” by Elvis Presley. OMG! When the kids were little, I had an Elvis Presley CD I loved. I listened to it all the time. I know Elvis was slightly before my time, but for various reasons, I loved his music–especially at Christmas. My Elvis obsession became a family joke and a Christmas traditional. Then Youngest did this for me on his special day and I was touched beyond words. I’m sure I cried, but what I remember is the stunning love I felt for Youngest that quite literally took my breath away.

By the way, my tears started before the wedding when I walked into the bride’s dressing room. But to be fair, she started it, LOL! She teared up the second I walked in, which almost made me cry too, but I held out. That lasted about a minute, when she gave me a beautiful bracelet with a charm that says “Mother of the Groom” on one side, and “My Other Mother” on the other, along with a sweet note. How could I not cry? I’ve known her for something like 12 years now, and have watched her grow from a shy girl into a beautiful, confident woman. I truly love her and her gift trigger tears of love and joy.

Youngest is gaining a new family that loves him just as much! He now has a second mom who will always be there for him too.

It really was a romantic, magical wedding between two people who’ve supported one another through hard times on their journey to their happily ever after.

Today is also Wizard and my anniversary. Happy Anniversary to the man I said “I do” to a few decades ago!

So that was my weekend, how was your weekend, and is your week off to a good start?

I am so happy for them and for you! And Happy Anniversary! May your kids have as long and happy lives with their spouses as you and Wizard.

You know, I think this is the first time I’ve actually seen BLB. Funny how I feel close to him even though we’ve never met. I’m so happy for him and his lovely wife. =o)

The weekend here was quiet as usual. NaNo has begun and I’m typing away finishing that forgotten fantasy I was talking about. Five days in a row now, which is the big win for me, even if I am behind on the word count. I’ve also been cleaning and baking and fishing. All in all, life is good.

AWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!! Where’s the tissues! I’m all teared up and sniffly too. Beautiful! Lucky, happy, wonderfurl family! And you looked gorgeous in that dress! And a very happy anniversary to you and Wizard. The two of you are obviously meant to be and your long, happy marriage created three wonderful men that are embarking on their own long, happy lives, with the woment they love and adore like they do their mom!

There was a weekend. There was pancakes, soccer, sick Stormy on Monday so Jammie drove up there to take care of him. An hour after his mom left for work he was wanting to go outside and play. 🤦

I’m writing again. I hope the momentum continues.

Enjoy your “down” time. As you say, it won’t last. That reminds me. I need to go switch the wreath on the front door.

Happy Anniversary! I knew yours was coming up since mine is Saturday. We have many many things in common ;).

Congratulations on son and DIL’s marriage. Thank you for sharing some photos. What a lovely couple. That is so cute how BLB answered before the questions was complete. No hesitation there :).

What a kid! I love him with you. To pick a song to dance to with you that had so much meaning :). You raised the boy well. By the way – he looks like Wizard.

    Did Turbo have fun?

I hope you and Wizard have a nice anniversary dinner. You have so much to celebrate!

    Take care❤.

B.E., thank you! That’s BLB :-) I understand that connection since life threw a similar curveball into both your paths. Plus for a while there, I talked about him a great deal on the blog.

Soi you choose the forgotten fantasy! I wondered which project you’d pick. Five days running of writing is a great start! And you managed to get cleaning, baking and finishing in there too, so you’ve been busy!

I think steady writing is a bigger win than word count. But I also understand that word count is the big NaNo motivator. Keep typing, and keep Edit Brain locked in a dark, soundproof closet, LOL!

And thanks on the dress :-) I had flat sandals on by that dance, but no one cared and I was comfortable.

Keep going on that forgotten fantasy!

Silver, thanks so much! I truly appreciate all the sweet words. And so true on the down time for me right now. Both Wizard and I are embracing the calm moments.

Sorry Stormy was sick, but it sounds like he bounced back really fast. Kids are amazing like that. I’m sure he loved having a grandma day too :-)

I’m thrilled you’re writing again! I’m sending all the mental motivation I can to keep it going!

Viki, thanks and Happy Early Anniversary to you too!

The whole ceremony really reflected the two of them, but it really was cute to see him jump the gun because he’s normally so calm and steady.

Oh and I have to tell Wizard you said BLB looks like him. He’ll love that.

Turbo had great fun at times, other moments the poor kid was tired and overwhelmed. Honestly, his parents are rock stars for juggling it all.

You didn’t mention your weekend–I hope it was good.
