Holiday + Weekend Roundup

Missed you guys! We had a great Thanksgiving despite the pouring rain. All the dogs and Turbo did well, which was my biggest concern. Jett and Hazel are really nice dogs. Maggie did better than I expected. She told Jett once that she didn’t want to play with him, and Jett was totally chill about it. That is good dog communication. Maggie wasn’t perfect, but overall, she was reasonably good.

Poor Hazel discovered we had a pool the hard way. This was her first time here, and she chased her brother, Jett, out the back door and didn’t see the pool until she plunged in. Hazel’s a really smart dog, but it was raining, the skies were dark, and she was focused on Jett. The poor girl was shaking with cold! She bounced back a few minutes later once we got her dried and warmed up. We didn’t let her out there again, though. Not until we have nice weather when we can walk her around the pool and let her get a feel for it.

The weekend was good, including a trip to the zoo with Turbo. When we got home, I went out back with Maggie where she slipped and fell in the pool. Crazy! Two dogs in one weekend! My sons had just commenting how fast and agile Maggie is, and then this happens, LOL! But she just slipped, and sometimes, crap happens. I had to haul her out, and got soaked in the process, but both of us were fine once we got dry. (I’ve tried to teach her to swim to the steps, but she was too panicked to do it.) She’s sulking here because she had to wait for her collar to dry before I’d put it back on. That’s upset her more than falling in the pool!

Once we put her collar on, she was wiggled with happiness. Such a silly girl.

I don’t go out shopping on Black Friday because, crowds! But Sunday, I ran over to the outlet center in town, and scored a pair of flat leather ankle boots 50% off. I’m pretty happy about that. I wish I could wear the cute ones with heels, but I’m striving to be practical :-)

Now we’re on the fast track to Christmas and life will stay on the busy train.

Today, I’m hoping to get back to the gym and maybe even writing! A girl can dream.

So how was your Thanksgiving and weekend?

Missed you, too! I’m so happy to hear you had a nice Thanksgiving and a good weekend – despite the wet dogs. Poor Maggie doesn’t know what to do with herself without her collar. She’s naked for petesakes. Yay for cute new boots on sale! Fingers crossed you make it to the gym AND get some writing in.

We had a nice Thanksgiving and weekend. Pretty much laid around except for Hubs doing some raking and me doing some baking. I’m thinking about sending baked goods as Christmas presents this year, which will require me doing some heavy duty baking this week, if I want to get everything where it needs to be by Christmas. We’ll see.

Wow! You had all the excitement! Yay for the good stuff. I’m totally not laughing at Hazel and Maggie. And crossing fingers for a productive day for you.

We had Stormy and ADHD Dog because Only and BB were getting windshield time up the turnpike. BB’s dad had a health scare. Still waiting on final diagnosis/prognosis. Stormy spent the night with friends one night and then we had him two days and night, and then we had him another afternoon, night, and morning so his parents could have some down time. That last visit was planned because they’d had tickets for the John Cleese show at a big casino/resort down south for ages. We brought ADHD Dog to our house because they crate him when he’s not home and as German Shepherd, he needs out!

In other news, T-giving lunch at the in-laws included good food and good company. I managed to hit 50K on two projects for NaNoWriMo and I’m within a couple or three chapters of getting the first draft on my deadline project done. That’s a yay. Probably not much writing for me today. Stuff to do and Jammie duties after Stormy’s school day is over. Long story, mostly boring.

Anyway, I don’t even want to think about Christmas. The good news is, I never took down the tree from last year.

And…there goes the dinger on the washer. Y’all have a good one!

Uhm…I really need to proofread. Dozier (aka ADHD Dog) is crated when THEY aren’t home. I can type and read and make sense. Some days…

Sounds like you had a very nice Thanksgiving even with the pups in the pool ;). Poor babies must have been shocked.

I bet you all had a great time at the zoo. Did you get worn out? Seems like the kids can go non-stop and then crash.

I’m getting the feeling Maggie is a little girl that likes her bling ;). How cute that she was so happy when she got her collar back.

We had the Thursday turkey with the younger boys and the entire family yesterday for lasagna. Harrison had so much fun looking for Spunk (he does NOT like Harrison and hid). He was searching everywhere saying CAT :).

Middle fixed my generator connection to WiFi issue and he even figured out how I will be able to back up my current phone for when I get the new one :).

I don’t shop Black Friday either. I pretty much point and click all the time. Today I got the middle and DIL done for Christmas and bought two things for hubs.

Hope you got to the gym and had a nice workout.

    Have a great afternoon!

B.E., you guys have had a LOT more wet weather than we have! I did get to the gym, and had an hour to kinda, sorta write.

Baking for gifts is a huge undertaking, but I know you can do it if you want to. It’s always a nice gift.

Glad you had a nice T-Day and weekend of raking and baking :-) Hope Monday was good to you too!

Silver, I laughed at Maggie after I got her dried and warmed :-)

Oh no on BB’s dad’s health scare. I’ll keep him in my thoughts and really hope the diagnosis and prognosis is good. In the meantime, they are so lucky to have you to help with Stormy and Dozier. It’s a lot of work, but I know they truly appreciate it, and Stormy gets to hang with two of his favorite people!

I understood what you meant about crating the dog when they aren’t home. Hope all the dogs and cat co-existed peacefully for you.

Admist all that you got words!! Yay you!

I bought one gift now–something for Maggie, LOL! So I’m with you on not thinking about Christmas, but we will get it done. Maybe.

My washer has been going all day long here. Hope you got a lot done there!

Viki, I feel the most sorry for Hazel, she’s a sweet dog who really relies on her brother Jett. She had to be so shocked.

We weren’t that tired from the zoo as we were only there a couple hours, and we had lunch too. Turbo was so tired, he fell asleep on the way home, then we went home.

I think Maggie is super attached to her collar with the dog tags because they put it on her when she came home with us. That’s my guess. I even put her martingale collar on her that I use for walks, but she wanted her collar with her tags.

Wow two family dinners that close together is a lot of work! I can totally picture Harrison running around looking for the cat. Turbo is the same way about dogs. Spunk is pretty smart to avoid small children :-)

Middle son rocks getting that all set up for you!

You’re definitely ahead of me on Christmas. I bought Maggie one thing today and that’s all I have. I’ll get it done though.

I had a solid workout and am so glad I went, thanks! I need to get back on my routine.

Hope your week is off to a good start!
