Favorite Holiday Cookie or Dessert?

Do you have a favorite? I’m thinking about making a cookie tray for a family party in a week and a half and am looking for ideas. Or do you have another holiday dessert you like better than cookies? Please share your thoughts!

Tough choice. My favs are always big, soft, chewy snickerdoodles (I have a recipe for giant snickerdoodles that is awesome!) and traditional chocolate chip though I’ve been known to substitute white chocolate and/or mint chocolate chips. For the cookie trays I used to make, I also did the no-bake meringue cookies, using food coloring to make them green and using mint chocolate chips (you make them and leave them in a preheated oven overnight). And I made “press cookies”–using a cookie press with Christmas themed…presses? You know, the little thing you put in the tube to get the shapes when you push the dough out. Anyway, I did those with red and green sugar sprinkles. I also included peanut butter, oatmeal, and various “fruit” breads. With the oatmeal, I did dried cranberries instead of raisins. Yeah, I put together MASSIVE trays. 🤣

Other than fudge, I love snowballs. Here is a recipe similar to mine –
Here(https://www.landolakes.com/recipe/20055/snowball-cookies/). Have to agree with Silver on the meringues too. Love them.

    Have fun baking :).

I love cookies! And fudge! And quick breads! Umm… Can you tell I’m sitting here surrounded by the smell of food? My favorite holiday cookie is coconut rum, but if I remember right, you don’t like coconut. I also made some oatmeal cranberry cookies the other day that turned out quite nice. I made two loaves of pumpkin pie bread today that I’ll be sending off to the moms along with two loaves of apple cranberry bread I still need to make. Tomorrow.

Silver, you must have made massive trays! I just don’t know what I want to do yet. Snickerdoodles aren’t something I make a lot, but I think they are very popular.

Cranberries in oatmeal would be better than raisins! Although now I’m thinking about white chocolate and cranberry cookies :-)

Yep, I know pressed cookies, although I’ve never used that technique.

Too many choices! I probably need to choose a theme or something to narrow the field.

Viki, we love snowballs! Thank you for the recipe! Those usually store well so I can bake ahead too. I also have a meringue recipe I’ve used too.

I’m getting motivated to at least think about ideas now!

B.E. I want to try cranberry bread! I was thinking cranberry orange, although apple-cranberry sounds good too. Hmm…I have a lot of ideas beginning to percolate. Thank you!

Ohh, I haven’t thought of rum cookies in years. I don’t care for coconut but I can make some with and some without. It’s a thought! Thank you!
