It’s Almost 2020!

Here I am at the end of 2019 and decade.

I’m not great at selfies, and I delete a bunch of them! But this one I can live with even if it’s a little blurry.

Can you believe we’re just a day or two away from 2020???? Time is such a weird creature. If I’m waiting for water to boil, it’s slow as hell. But if I’m watching my grandson grow, it’s flies by too fast!

What do you want out of the 2020’s?

Professionally, I want to write again. I’m not going to get into the struggle, instead I’ll say that I’ve set my goals. January is for getting a rough draft of Savaged Devotion roughed out. I can’t make promises except this: I’m trying my best! Aside from the tinnitus (caused by nerve damage in my neck), I also have to convince Wizard to give me time and space to write. Wish me luck! Once I get my writing groove back, then I’ll refine my goals for things like how many books and bestseller status. But I’ve hit lists and while it’s great high, what I care about the most is making readers happy, and right now, that’s really what I want out of 2020 professionally–to once again make my readers happy with my stories. And to write enough stories to make up for this endless medical hiatus.

Personally, I want very much want to see old friends and make new ones. Re-engage in the professional world of writers. Take more trips when we can including wine tasting, and my dream is to one day be able to afford to rent a big beach house for a family vacation. And the last thing I can think of offhand is to stay as active as possible. One great side effect of the tinnitus is that physical activity really helps my brain cope and filter the ringing. It also helps to have Maggie who LOVES going on walks :-)

So that’s my down and dirty list. What’s yours? I’m not looking for resolutions, but what you want out of this next decade?

All commendable goals. I did a “retrospective” on my blog today. My goal for 2020 and beyond is to remember that each day is a new possibility. I learned that not publishing is a death knell for a low mid-list author. So I hope to write more–easy enough given how little I wrote in 2019. There are old projects I want to look at with an eye toward publication. There are back-burner projects I want to heat up. There are new books to write. Most of all, I want to find the right head space to achieve any of the above.

I’m ready for changes and maybe a new year, coupled with a new decade (even though I maintain that 2020 is the end of the current decade and the next one doesn’t start until 2021, but whatever… ;) ) will give me whatever it is I’m looking for/need. It’s a hope, anyway.

As for selfies…yeah, no. I suck totally. Happy New Year!

I like your selfie. I don’t take them. When I look at them it never looks like hows I see myself when I look in a mirror. They horrify me ;).

Great goals. Honestly, I haven’t even thought about setting any yet. I came down with a nasty cold that is really kicking my butt. I haven’t worked out in three days :(. Even had to miss the family party because I didn’t want to get any of the little people sick.

Have a Very Happy New Year!

Silver, I read your blog, and I’m sorry for all that you’re struggling with, my friend. Life can be very difficult is an understatement.

You’re so right that about not publishing. Content is king more than ever these days.

I hope the dark cloud lifts off your life in 2020 and you can tell your stories with joy!

B.E., thank you! And you’re full of awesome too! Let’s all go out and make the 2020’s our decade (no matter when we think the decade actually starts, LOL)

Viki, oh no, I’m sorry you’re so sick with a cold. It sucks that you had to miss out on a family party :-( But smart that you’re not trying to work out when you’re that ill.

Turbo’s been sick too, and Wizard and I figure we’ll catch it because we love him too much to keep our distance.

I hope you feel better soon!
