Swear Jars

Wizard got a swear jar for Christmas from Special K and Turbo. Okay, technically, both of us got the swear jar. It’s super cute, a basically a bubblegum machine that Special K and Turbo decorated with dinosaur stickers.  However, only one of us is better at remembering to keep our language toddler-safe than the other.

I’m not saying that it’s Wizard who forgets and says inappropriate things in front of Turbo, but IT TOTALLY IS WIZARD!!

Anyway, I have the swear jar on my bookshelf, and I think I might mentally repurpose it into the Doubt Jar. Every damned time (it’s a toddler free zone and I can swear if I want to) I think anything negative about the book or my writing, I should pay the jar.

Or maybe I’ll call it the Distraction Jar. Every time I go online to shop (I love to put things in my car then later delete them because I’m cheap), or read about the latest social media dumpster, I should pay the jar.

Or every time I do anything but WRITE THE DAMN BOOK I SHOULD PAY THE JAR!

So, yeah, it’s going well here, LOL!

How’s your Wednesday going?

Sounds like you need multiple jars. Try them all and see which one gets full fastest. ;o)

LOL about the swearing, though. Thank goodness I don’t have children around me. I swear like a sailor. And most of the time, I don’t even think about it. I have to watch myself at Walmart because not only do I swear, but I talk to myself out loud as I’m walking through the aisles and am likely to say things like ‘oh, for f*ck’s sake, where the hell did they put the…’

Good luck on staying focused and writing the damn book. :hugs:

It’s early here, so the jury’s out on how Wednesday will go. So far, so good. The coffee is hot and strong. I think I slept okay. And I don’t ache too much. The day is full of possibilities. I need to make a Wallyworld run because after today, the weather is supposed to turn wet and gross and I don’t have enough cat food in the house to last through the crappy weather.

Happy Hump Day! Yeah…Only needs that swear jar. I have no idea where she gets it from… 🤭 I do like your ideas for jars: especially DOUBT and WRITE THE DAMN BOOK! jars. Except I’m so broke I’d be filling the jars with paper IOUs. ;)

Not much is going on in my world. Keeping my head out of social media and the $h!+ storm that’s going on.

The other authors in the miniseries are down to the wire on their books and I’m having to do some last minute adjustments to help them out because they “forgot” stuff. 🤷 No BFD so far. The big kerfluffel happened earlier and changing things worked out better for me in the long run so that one was a win. Waiting on one last thing to see if I have to shift a scene in the time line and then I’m good to go, even though I keep saying I’m done. 😂 Like a writer is EVER done!

I think I’m going to work on MOONSTRUCK: BETRAYAL as my next project. That’s what I set up to work on yesterday anyway. With some gumption and inspiration, I might even have it ready for release by the end of this month. Not holding my breath, but it’s a possibility. And that’s my word for the year: Possibilities.

Maybe I need a Possibility jar for all the good things…. 🤔

You are too funny. Poor Wizard. Harrison has uncles that need the swear jar. I just need one for myself at home for when I mess things up. Yes, you would think I was a sailor ;).

Your ideas for collection jars are very good. Never know, they may help out.

Glad your workout was a good one Monday. You started the week out on a positive note :).

I still have a bit of a cough. We’ve determined that I’ve have the flu virus B. Just wish it would clear up and go away.

    Have a fantastic afternoon!

B.E, I can’t afford multiple swear jars, LOL! Unless I fill them with knock off M&Ms or something, that would be fun :-)

Wizard and I both got sloppy with our language after the kids grew up so I can relate. I also talk to myself all the freaking time, including when I walk Maggie :-)

The damn book is in a battle my damn life, LOL! Nothing wrong, just stuff demanding attention when I really need to focus on the book. I knew this week would be transitional at best.

Hope you survived Wallyworld, I got there more these days than I used to and it can be a challenge. But good strong coffee and a decent nights sleep prepares us for most of life’s battles, even Wallyworld, LOL!

Silver, yep it’s a mystery where Only got her mouth :-) It’s amazing out easy it is to slip into the habit of swearing.

You’re smart to stay out of it if you want to write! This one sucked me in which isn’t good for my productivity.

THIS is why I think long and hard before getting involved in shared projects. I’m a control freak for one (duh!) and also, I’m a control freak :-) You’re handling it like the top notch professional that you are though and I’m very impressed! Hope everything goes super smoothly now.

Oh good word! And good plan on your projects! You can totally do it (especially if you stay out of the fracus going on, don’t be like me!)

IOUs on a Possibility Jar cracked me up. I mean, with a possibility jar, anything is, well, possible! I couldn’t resist. Sorry, it’s been a weird day, not bad, just time-suck weird.

    Happy Hump Day!

Viki, one of my sons (Turbo’s uncle) needs a swear jar too. And yeah, when I mess up or hurt myself, I swear too.

Working out Monday definitely set the tone for my week. I’m going tomorrow morning (hopefully) too. My goal is only twice a week right now with some other stuff mixed in.

It sure sounds like you had/have the flu. It’s really awful, I hear. I’m so sorry. I hope the cough goes fully away and you return to full health. But since it was the flu, it’s important you try not to do too much too soon. Relapses and secondary infections can be pretty bad.

I hope you have a good evening!
