Friday Five

TGIF!! Let’s jump right into sharing 5 random things about our week:

  1. Writing, well I’m trying! I don’t want to dwell on it, so I’ll just say regaining my creativity is a work in progress :-)
  2. So it turns out I have an inner hippie, LOL! My friends, this is what comes of watching YouTube. Anyhow, yesterday, I made tahini (a butter made from pumpkin seeds) and almond butter. I plan to use the tahini in some homemade granola and hummus, and the almond butter as I would any nut butter spread. (FYI, I’m not vegan or a vegetarian by any stretch, I’m just expanding the plant-based nutrition to my diet to support my increased strength training.) To my surprised, my small food processor did the job. Here’s the results of my efforts:

Tahini on the left. fresh roasted almonds in the center and almond butter on the right.

  3. Today I’m meeting Biker Witch to hang out and go to Trader Joes, because, yep, we know how to party! Also, I’m looking for more nuts and stuff, and then next week, I’ll be tired of it all. But I’m so thrifty, I’ll find a way to use all that I’ve bought and made. For instance, I bet I could find a way to turn that tahini into a sweet treat :-)
  4. It’s taken my over a week to read a thriller, “Orphan X” by Gregg Hurwitz. It’s fast paced with nice twists, I just get distracted, and you know, tinnitus.  I just finished listening to “What Alice Forgot” by Liane Morierty. I liked that one too, I especially liked the premise of waking up after a fall and not remembering anything in the last ten years, including her kids or why she’s divorcing her husband.
  5. I’m not sure about this weekend. I may see a kid or grandkid or get into some shenanigan or other.

So that’s my five, now I’d love to hear yours! Hope all of you have a great weekend!

Sounds fun. I love Trader Joe’s. I’m Dubai now visiting a new grand baby and will be back in the states on the 5th of Feb. Fingers crossed and no borders shut down. Then to try to get the contractor to finish my house (it flooded in June 10,000 gallons of water an hour from the upstairs bathroom) I love your work and can’t wait for fallen magic. There is a sweet you make from tahini it’s like a cake. I share the recipe if I can find it again. Good luck with add more plant base and good reads.

You hippie chick, you! 🤣 Fun times with Biker Witch. Party hard. Okay, my five:

    1) I fried 20 lbs. of bacon yesterday and doing 12 lbs. of sausage patties today. Tomorrow is pancake breakfast at the post. Good thing I love bacon!

    2) What’s that elusive unicorn of which you speak? Writing? PFfft. Myth. (Yeah, yeah. I gotta find my mojo too!)

    3) This has been the week for Stormageddon time. Monday afternoon after school to his OT appointment, followed by a trip to Wallyworld and then home because Only was stuck putting out fires at the office and Baseball Boy is…being Baseball Boy, ie. coaching his HS team. Yesterday, it was after school pick-up, early dinner at Chik Fil-A and playtime until 5:45 return to school to meet Only for Open House (he got to meet his first grade teacher and see her room, not that he doesn’t already know. 🤭 ) And finally, he’s doing a talent show at school this afternoon. Only and BB can’t get away so Jammie to the rescue!

    4) I’m about to finish a marathon re-listen of Jennifer Ashley’s Shifters Unbound series. Not sure what I’ll grab next. This is a first re-read of the series for me and it’s been two years. I enjoy her historicals but her paranormals are fun too.

    5) In news that made me go “Wow”: The victim of a homicide committed 40 years ago has finally been identified with the help of the DNA Doe Project. Oklahoma County deputies responded back in April, 1980 to a body found along the Canadian River. The young woman was covered in lime and when she was never identified, police and media named her the Lime Lady. Chances of solving her murder 40 years later is slim to none but at least she has her identity and some closure for the family. 💕 In other news, a 330,000 yo shark skull was found in Mammoth Cave in Kentucky. 😲 If writers made this stuff up, we’d get side-eyed by the general public. 🤣

And that’s my five! Have a great weekend.

You go, girl, with your writing and your inner hippyness. Have fun with Biker Witch! And with your reading! And whatever you do this weekend!

    1) I’m so totally zoned out today. There isn’t enough coffee in the world to cure this, I fear.
    2) Sometimes when I talk to Mom, we get to chatting about people we used to know and she fills me in on things back home. This morning, she told me my favorite lunch lady died last week at the age of 86. She was super nice and tiny with the loveliest British accent. =o(
    3) Our bucks are dropping their antlers, so once again, we’re combing the woods to see if any dropped on our land. 6 years and squat, but there’s always hope.
    4) The other day, I was out in woods, throwing logs on the brush piles and I scared the living daylights out of a bunny. I felt bad, but it’s the first we’ve seen of the bunnies since last spring, so yay.
    5) I made no-bake cookies this week. Yummers.

    1. Let it come when it’s ready.
    2. Good for you.
    3. Hope you had fun and picked up some yummies at TJ’s. Did you and Biker Witch have coffee too? I hope so.
    4. It always takes me a week to read a book now a days. Glad you enjoyed the thriller.
    5. Hope you see Turbo and have grandma fun ;).

1a. Didn’t take drugs today so I can have a glass of wine. I’m regretting no drugs :(.
2a. Just finished making guacamole. It’s a bit spicy but I like it.
2a. Cable box did this lovely thing where it just changed a setting which removed volume from 2 channels. I had no idea what was wrong. Finally called Spectrum and they walked me through fixing it. They said it happens all the time. Never happened here before.
4a. Best friend is coming up from FL this week. Can’t wait to see her.
5a. Have to look into buying a new all in one printer. Should be loads of fun ;).

    Have a great weekend!

Aunt Clara, Dubai, wow!! That’s amazing and I hope you have a lovely time visiting your grandbaby!

On no on the massive flood in your house. Positive vibes you can find a good, reasonable contractor and get it repaired in a timely manner.

I love Trader Joes too, but it’s not super close, so I don’t get there often.

Thank you so much, I really do hope to writing Primal and Fallen Magic. First, I must finished Savaged Devotion.

    Have a safe trip home!

Silver, yep, that’s me, a total hippie, LOL!

    1) That’s a lot of pork frying but it’ll be yummy at the pancake breakfast! They will all appreciate it!
    2) Shhh, don’t frighten the unicorn :-)
    3) You’re a wonderful grandma! I bet your daughter is very grateful to have you. I’m sure Stormy loves it!
    4) Enjoy re-reading the series!
    5) The identity of that woman matters and i love it gives her family some peace (as much as possible under such horrible circumstances). But the shark skull found in Kentucky…yeah…wow!

I hope you have a great weekend!

B.E, Biker Witch and I had fun today, thanks!

    1) Hope you found a boost of energy. Unless you seriously needed rest (it happens to all of us) and then, I hope you rested.
    2) Aww, I’m sorry about the lunch lady. But it’s lovely that you remember her.
    3) You’ll find antlers one day. And now I’m wondering what you’d do with them?
    4) Bunnies aren’t very hard to frighten unfortunately. We seen them all the time right now on our walks.
    5) Cookies!

    Enjoy your weekend!

Viki, yep we had lunch (bleh, not good) and then she bought me coffee (very good). I got fun things at Trader Joes including a chili-lime spice that just sounded good. No clue what I’ll use it for, LOL!

    1) I’m sorry about the pain. Did the wine help? Depending on which kind of pain I have, it actually can help. But it won’t help joint or hot pain, just achiness that relaxing can ease.
    2) I love guacamole! I like it spicing if I’m using it in salad or something cool like that.
    3) That is weird with your cable box!
    4) How fun to see your best friend! You must miss her.
    5) Ugh. I hope you find a good one!

I hope your pain is better and you have a good weekend!
