Friday Five

TGIF! Let’s jump in with sharing five random things about our week.

  1. I feel much better after starting the week sore from various things, including sudden weather changes. Yay!
  2. After months and months of struggling with my washing machine and its mysterious spin cycle, my dryer announced his sudden retirement. We bought a new set that should be delivered Saturday. I chose a simple Maytag top loading set that should fit in my laundry room and hopefully will work without complaining.
  3. I broke a tooth Wednesday night. Ironically, I think the molar cracked while I was eating the healthy granola I made a few days ago, then part of the tooth actually broke last night. Side note: The brownies I made did no damage :-) Anyway, I see the dentist this morning. That should be a fun visit. I have no idea if the tooth can be saved since it broke around an old filling. The good news is I’m not in pain (they would have gotten me in right away if I was), and at least it’s in the back of my mouth so no one can see it.
  4. I’m on a soft food diet until the tooth can be fixed. Guess what? A brownie is soft! But I miss my salads and hard fruits. Not eating meat doesn’t bother me at all. I know I’m weird.
  5. I made a little progress on my book! It’s still slow, but Wednesday and Thursday I really did move forward and feel good about that.

That’s my five things. We had originally planned to go see Turbo Saturday. I may go by myself and Wizard will stay home for the delivery of the washer and dryer (he offered), or I’ll change it to Sunday. I’ll talk to Turbo’s parents and see how things work out. Now I’d love to hear five random things about your week!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Wow, you had a week. :hugs: I’m glad you feel better from your soreness, though, and that you made progress with your writing. Yay. I hope you guys get some Turbo time this weekend.

    1) As I sit here reading about your washer/dryer woes, I’m listening to Hubs try and figure out why our washer is thumping. (It was the fitted sheet balled up to one side. whew.) We so do not need that expense right now.
    2) For some reason, I keep thinking today is Monday and mentally planning my week. Except it’s not and I still have to finish this week. Bummer.
    3) Last night, I finished a neat murder mystery set on the British island of Jersey – Blood in the Sand by Kelly Clayton. It kind of jumped around, but sometimes British mysteries/suspense are like that.
    4) Finished up reading that just in time to watch the season finale of Dead of Winter on ID with Hubs. It’s one of our favorite shows. We like the true crime stuffs. Big surprise there, eh? ;o)
    5) We had another case of the weather people crying wolf here again. The big winter weather warning on Wednesday turned out to be a lot of rain and then a dusting of snow. I can totally handle it if they keep predicting this stuff wrong. And I prepare for them to get it wrong the other way, too, so it’s all good.

Well…at least your washer and dryer went as a pair. Sounds like love to me. ;) Glad you’re feeling better but bummer on the tooth. Yay for progress! B.E., we got all the snow meant for y’all. One of our favorite “old” shows was a cop drama set on Jersey: Bergerac, starring John Nettles who went on to star in Midsommer Murders. Good stuff. Wish someone would stream it! Okay, my five:

    1. We officially got 4.6 inches of snow on Wednesday. Here at the house, it was closer to 6. We stayed in all day. It was cozy.

    2. I finally got some writing work stuff done. I “cleared” 4 chapters yesterday. If I set my mind to it, maybe I can finish off the final 7 chapters in this section. We’ll see. That’s the plan for today anyway.

    3. Stormy came Monday and Tuesday after school. We had fun. Tuesday, his Big Daddy came home early and they (mostly Stormy!) put together a B-17 model airplane. My dad was one of the first engineers on that project. It was cool to watch them working together.

    4. The Masked Singer is back on. It’s my guilty pleasure TV show. The first singer eliminated was Li’l Wayne. Surprised the heck out of the panel. The second to go was Drew Carey. Surprised the heck out of me. He sang “It’s Not Unusual” by Tom Jones and dang if he didn’t sound just like TJ! I mean…who knew Drew Carey can sing?!?!

    5. I’m listening to GOLDEN IN DEATH, the 50th novel in JD Robb’s In Death/Eve Dallas series. That doesn’t include the slew of novellas. I want to be LaNora/JD when I grow up! I want to write as consistently and creatively as her. Ah well.

On that note, I should get off the internet and put that wish into practive. No worky, no new wordies, no new bookies, no sales. Have a great weekend, everyone!

    1. I’m glad you rested and feel better.
    2. Naughty dryer. It will be very nice to have new machines :).
    3. Oh no! I guess it doesn’t pay to eat healthy ;). It’s amazing that you weren’t in pain. How did the appointment with the dentist go?
    4. Yes, brownies are soft food. I can get by without meat too but I’d be in bad shape w/o salad. How are you doing?
    5. Good job on the book.

1a. Hip is still killing me. I think I may have bursitis of the hip. Not good for someone like me that is addicted to working out.
2a. It’s been snowing like crazy all day. It’s very pretty but there was freezing rain yesterday so there is about a 1/2 inch of ice under the snow.
3a. Coffee with girlfriend was SO nice. I really miss her.
4a. Tomorrow (if the weather is okay) middle son is taking me out for the day :). I’m going to have him take me to White House Chocolates so I can buy malt balls for hubs.
    5. I ordered the new printer two days ago and it arrived this morning. The ink came yesterday and one of the packages was smashed. I called and B**ched. They sent a new one which is currently out in the delivery box covered in snow ;).

Have a great weekend and I hope Wizard has a ball with Turbo. Don’t you over do it and hurt yourself again.

B.E., as things go, it wasn’t a bad week, just eventful :-)

    1) Glad you dodged the washer bullet!
    2) LOL, mixing up days is pretty common when we don’t go to an out of the house job.
    3) Yay on the good mystery!
    4) Not at all surprised you’re true crime buffs. We like them, but I limited them after 9pm, or I hear things in the night, or just think about the victims.
    5) I know why weather people cry wolf, but I also understand that it can be hard to predict the path of a storm.

Hope you have a good weekend!

Silver, LOL on the washer/dryer romance and dying together. I’m pretty over them now and was actually willing to spend the money on new ones.

    1) Snow! Glad you were able to stay inside.
    2) You’re on a roll!
    3) That is really cool, and I love learning that about your dad!
    4) We were just talking about The Masked Singer. My son was saying they watched it one night by accident (it was on their recorded shows) and he said it was good, but he was NOT getting sucked into another show. I’m terrible at following shows and don’t have a DVR so I’ll live through you :-)
    5) That series of hers is amazing. I haven’t kept up, but do read one here and there and I’m always amazed.

All true and hope your weekend is all that you wish!

Viki, I’m lucky I wasn’t in pain! The tooth had several cracks. The dentist did a temporary crown–it was a long appointment, but not surprising. That was a big filling and the dentist who did that one was iffy, so…once this is all done I should be in good shape. Unsurprisingly, I’m sore tonight, but some ibuprofen should take care of that. On healthy eating–I need to be careful for two weeks, so no nuts, but I’m still going to stick as close to my “add more plant based” plan as I reasonably can.

    1) Can a doctor help your hip? I’ve gotten a lot of relief with good medical care.
    2) As much as you like the cold, it’s probably not helping your hip. I find frigid cold and humid heat both create more swelling/pain.
    3) I know you miss her :-( but so happy you got to have coffee with your friend!
    4) Hope you have a great time with Middle Son!
    5) Ink is so expensive too! Glad you got it replaced. Good luck with the new printer.

I hope you have a better pain day tomorrow so you can more fully enjoy your time with middle son!
