Weekend Roundup

Interesting factoid, my stomach is a touchy, drama queen, troll just looking for an excuse to throw a hissy fit. I’m trying to tame it with some diet alterations and they are actually helping. But this week I struggled with insomnia, and messed up by forgetting to take a medications that needs to be taken on a regular schedule (that’s very rare for me to forget–thanks insomnia!).

So Saturday arrived, and I got up feeling off. But I am A Woman, and therefore, I get shit done. I got busy baking two kinds of cookies; BLB’s special lactose free chocolate chip cookies. And then, because BLB is SELFISH with his cookies and growls at his wife if she tries to take even one of his precious cookies, I made her a batch of her favorite cookies; white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies. I refused to let my cranky butt stomach stop me.

But I had two kinds of chocolate chips opened and tempting me. And macadamia nuts, which I’m normally way too cheap to buy. Yum!

My stomach laughed its evil cackle, and said, “I dare you. Go ahead, eat some.”

And I said, “I”m not afraid of you. I’ll eat whatever I want.”

So I did.

Turns out, my stomach wasn’t bluffing. I spent the rest of Saturday pretty sickish and shooting pepto bismol shots. Which is not tasty at all, just saying.

By Sunday, I was MUCH better, probably because my stomach cried “Mercy” after I drowned it in gross pink slime. Two can play this little game, Stomach. Remember that next time you want to get mean. I fight dirty and pink!

Anyhow, the cookies came out well. We had a nice birthday lunch of tri tip, chicken, rice and salad with Youngest and Wife. And cookies! My daughter in law seemed genuinely happy that I made her cookies of her very own that BLB can’t eat :-)

You can bet I ate some of those cookies too. Any time my stomach even considered throwing another hissy fit, I held up the bottle of Pepto, and said, “I dare you.”

Through all this battle, baking, cooking and entertaining, I didn’t get much writing done, but I will remedy that today! I’m heading into the last quarter of the book, so today may be more planning/plotting and nailing down emotions than actual writing, but it’s all part of the what it’s takes to get this full draft written. The key thing is to get the whole story written as soon as possible, then I can worry about how to make it stronger, and you know, readable.

So how was your weekend?

Gah. Getting older sucks. Don’t do this, don’t eat that, don’t reach for anything…Bleh. Good for you for kicking your stomach’s ass. I’m glad that despite it’s evil machinations, you had a nice day with your family. Yay for the last quarter! Get that story written and worry about making it pretty later. (I really need to take my own advice there.)

We spent a lot of the weekend working on the yard expansion project and then recovering. One or two hours each day and then loads of sitting around. One maybe two more days and it’ll be ready for spring. We might seed it or we might see what happens with the wild plants. I made a pineapple upside-down cake Friday and it’s mostly gone. Today I need to get groceries because I’m starting to feel like Old Mother Hubbard. Other than that, not much going on here.

Yay for cookies, family, hitting the last 1/4 of the book, and kicking your stomach’s ego with the Pink.

We mostly stayed in this weekend. Nice and quiet and while I worked, I also managed a nap. I discovered something about a secondary character who will eventually get his own book. That was cool. I’m hoping that by going back and covering ground in the Hard Target team’s story, Iffy will get inspired to add a second book to that…well, with only a crossover book and then one couple, I can’t call it a true series, though that’s the plan.

I made homemade waffles for dinner last night. They’re always good, along with eggs and bacon. Stomry is coming to spend the day because he’s out of school but his parents have to work. Fun times.

And that’s pretty much it for me. Have a week filled with possibilities!

That mean tummy!!! Glad you told it what for with Pepto :). Is it the nuts that get you? Other than the nasty tummy issue it sounds like a nice weekend.
Did you get to see Turbo?

I think it’s wonderful that you’re at the final quarter of the book. I hope the planning and plotting went well today.

You are going to love this, not really. Friday night I brush my teeth and on my final tooth to floss I pop off my crown :(. I was crownless all weekend. No real food and no chewing on the left because of an exposed stump. The dentist got me in first thing this morning and re-seated it. Can you believe that was $125? My heaven! Hopefully it stays put.
Needless to say our weekend was rather boring ;). I’m starting to clear my books out of the room with the ruined carpet so that we can put down hardwood. Big job ;).

    I hope you have a great afternoon/evening.

B.E., no lie on getting older, LOL! And yeah, I’m trying hard to keep moving forward. It might be a bit more than a quarter of the book, but I’m trying to think positive.

Sounds like you guys made huge progress on your yard! All that land is a lot of work. And recovery time is more necessary these days.

Hope you were able to restock your cupboards! Happy Monday!

Silver, thanks. I want to finish this book, and today was like quicksand. But I got some good notes and thoughts…so progress will be made.

That’s exciting to see so much potential for a secondary character! I’m also glad with all your planning, plotting and writing, that you worked in a little rest plus waffles.

Hope you had a great time with Stormy today!

Viki, no we didn’t get to see Turbo. Hopefully this week or next weekend. CPA Boy works long hours, but Special K is very sweet about us coming by any time.

On crap, that’s sucks about your tooth, but at least they were able to get you in and fix the existing crown. Mine is expensive, but my dental insurance should pay half so I’m not too stressed. I hope your crown stays in place now!

The hardwood will be pretty once it’s done! But that’s a big job, and clearing books is pretty strenuous.

Hope your week is off to a good start.
