The weekend was mostly good.
We decided to go Sunday morning to celebrate Turbo’s birthday. We originally planned on Tuesday for his actual birthday, but it’s supposed to rain pretty heavy. Since Amazon wasn’t able to deliver Turbo’s gift on time, we headed out first thing Saturday morning to Target and got him a small Mickey Mouse three-wheeler. He really loved it, along with a little car and a stuffed turtle. After we left, Special K sent us a picture of Turbo napping with his new turtle 
I also took out some mini cupcakes. I want to say a huge Thank You to Special K for always letting me have my Grandma moments. She just asked if I could make a small cupcake, which made me remember I had a mini cupcake pan. The mini-size is much better suited to a toddler, and he still ate a full lunch an hour after his little cupcake.
If we do a bigger birthday celebration in April for several family birthdays including Turbo’s, then I’ll dust off my decorating skills on a special cake.
So that was the best part of the weekend.
The worst is seeing the darker side of people during Covid-19. Crazy. And I’m someone who took this virus seriously back in early January because I’m medically curious by nature and it caught my interest. So I had a pretty good understanding of why this virus could (not necessarily would) become a pandemic and cause serious issues. But hoarding TP, hand sanitizer and various other items isn’t a rational response and creates major supply chain problems for those who need it, as well as triggering more panic-buying. Fights broke out in stores of products like a bad reality show. Our Costco had a line wrapped around the entire building and had some issue that required a 911 response. I only know that all happened because Wizard went to the bank located in the same area and saw it. We weren’t crazy enough to go to Costco this weekend
Anyhow, after much discussion, Wizard and I decided to stop going to the gym for a while. We should have done that last week, but honestly, we go early in the morning when it’s theoretically cleaner and less crowded, so we didn’t think much about it. But when I was there Friday, the lightbulb went on. There are so many people who wrongly and foolishly believe that if they go to the gym while coming down with an illness, they can sweat it out. And those places our petri dishes for bacteria and viruses. We are not just concerned for ourselves, we also have a very sick relative, Wizard’s mother in deep in her 80’s and has lifelong asthma, and one of our neighbor’s is seriously ill–we don’t want to inadvertently spread the virus to them. And of course, we want to protect Turbo, who is barely 2 years old. Health and fitness goals are great, but they aren’t worth getting ourselves or anyone else sick. I’ll do my home exercises and walk Maggie.
The upside is I should have time to write!

Happy Early Birthday to Turbo!
Yeah, it’s getting crazypants out there. I went shopping, not because I’m panicking but because those who are panicking are making it difficult to purchase essentials, and I don’t want to get caught with my pants down out here in the middle of nowhere. Most of the people around here were behaving themselves Saturday morning. I had a lovely chat with a woman about cats and home remedies for them. The ladies at the Dollar General were awesome when I locked my keys in my car and had to wait for Hubs. Seems like people were cheerful and friendly, and more worried about facing the panic than the virus – like me. Unfortunately, it seems like Friday was a whole other story – with general nastiness abounding. =o\
Good idea about staying away from the gym for a while. You two don’t need to catch this or anything else right now. :hugs: for your family and friends who are facing difficulties. And for you both. :HUGS:
Other than Saturday’s fun, the weekend was okay. It rained. A LOT. I got my final edits moving on Ugly and the Beast, so there’s that. Watched some stuff on TV, read a bunch, and just chilled out.

I had to hit Wallyworld on Saturday for stuff like dog treats, soy milk, hamburger…the usual stuff. It was raining and I left Jake at home. The place didn’t seem all that crowded but OMG! The paper aisle was empty. The bleach shelves were empty. The meat guy told me that the meat cases empty every day. (Either people have big freezers are there’s going to be a lot of spoiled food!) and what blew me away? Cheese. The sliced cheese shelves were empty. CHEESE, people?!?!?! WTF?
Yes, Corvid-19 shouldn’t be trifled with, but it can be controlled with the usual precautions. The flu has hit 10 times harder but people aren’t freaked over it. Hell, Oklahoma and every majory city in the state have declared states of emergency. We have 8 cases. EIGHT!!! Schools are closed but it’s spring break anyway. They’ve closed the public libraries for 2 weeks. They’re telling people to not eat in restaurants, go get their food to go or have it delivered. Risk takers that we are, LG and I went to our favorite Chinese restaurant last night and had a wonderful time with the staff and enjoyed terrific food. We’re both in the high-risk category but I’m not letting this crap define my life. I wash hands. I don’t hug–but I didn’t hug anyway. Never have.
Okay, in other weekend news…my oldest besties from college days showed up on the doorstep. She got a wild hair to drive down to see me. It was awesome!
Stormy had his annual birthday checkup. His in the 89th percentile on weight and 97th on height. He’s 4’1″ tall! And turns 6 next weekend. Sadly, they’ve canceled his party because more than 50 were expected and the SoE says no gatherings over 50 please. We’ll do a family deal on his birthday and then have a big party in May for “graduation” and his b-day combined. Double presents should take some of the sting out.
Other than that, not much going on. LG and I hung out because…rain. I need to get back on the writing bicycle. I’ll work on that this week.

I’m happy you were able to see Turbo and that he enjoyed his gifts. Can’t wait to find out what his gift was supposed to be. Any update from Amazon on where it is? They are now telling us to expect delays and shortages. Oh man!
The POTUS just said this may go into August and beyond. There are people already going crazy and not handling the stress well at all. In fact, you can feel it when you’re at the store. It’s scary.
I’ve been good and only buying what I need. But most people are insane. The crap they trow in their carts baffles me.
Everything is closed around here but grocery stores. They even closed the metro parks. I don’t understand that move.
Enough on the yucky subject.
I hope you and Maggie have been able to get out and go for walks. Take care and stay healthy.

B.E., I didn’t think you were shopping to horde
We all need to keep our livings running. I’m doing my weekly shopping in the morning and hoping for the best. But we can adapt and adjust to whatever we need to.
Glad you were able to make use of the rainy weather to get your edits going! Plus reading, TV and chilling out
We’ve skipped the gym during bad flu outbreaks, etc, too.

I’m glad OK isn’t seeing move of the Covid-19 strain yet.
Wow, Stormy is so tall and clearly thriving!!! I bet they double checked his birth cert when he signs up for sports. The bigger kids always got that extra look here when my kids were in sports.

Viki, Turbo’s gift was delivered yesterday AFTER we got home. I wasn’t upset over this delay because everyone’s getting hammered right now. It was the original order that was lost and customer service couldn’t tell me if it was lost or just delayed. I can tell you what it is, while Turbo knows his letter, I don’t think he can read yet
It’s a little pop up tent shaped in a bus for his room.
I saw some of the update, and I’m hoping people will calm down over time. It’s just sad to see this overreaction, and headlong rush into conspiracy theories that create more panic and confusion.
Buying what we need, and even a week ahead, is very reasonable. I’ll have to see what people are putting in their carts tomorrow when I’m doing my regular shopping–now I’m curious.
I hope you had a good weekend! And yep, Maggie and I got out for two short walks today. Rain in moving in tonight, and we’ll make the best of it.
