Weekend Roundup

Friday was cardio day, and boy did I get my heartrate up, LOL! So it’s been really hot here, and Maggie and I went out early for a walk. We hadn’t been walking long, when I spotted something in the road ahead of us.

I enlarged it a bit here:

I stopped cold, and said out loud, “That’s a snake. That’s a snake.” I guess I had to repeat it to make it sink in. To be clear we were pretty far back, and I zoomed in a bit on the first shot, using one hand because no way was I letting go of Maggie’s leash.

I have no clue if it was dead or alive, and I sure as h*ll wasn’t getting close enough to find out, especially since that appears to be a rattlesnake. Nope, when it comes to snakes, I’m all about social distancing! Anyway, we backtracked, took another path out of the field, and we haven’t returned since then. There’s a lot of grasses and weeds growing in the field from all the rains, and too many places I wouldn’t even see a snake. I stay on the roads this time of year, but I just don’t want to risk accidently getting too close. I’ll let the snakes have the field to themselves until I feel more confident.

Otherwise, the weekend was good. How was your weekend?

Ack! Yep, I wouldn’t have gotten too close either. Reminds me of last year when I saw a big ol’ copperhead in the road. It wasn’t moving, so I kicked a nut at it, and it still didn’t move, so I walked as far as I could around it. (Going another route wasn’t an option.) Later, we discovered it really was dead, but who wants to take that kind of chance?

I don’t know if you saw my snake story from yesterday on FB. Of course, it was definitely a non-venomous snake story. Venomous snake stories usually end the same way – with it being dead.

Other than that, the weekend was quiet. Did some gardening stuffs. Did some editing stuffs. The usual.

Yeah…it’s a snake! I wish I could drop pics into the comments. I have the perfect meme for you for next time. There was a weekend, wasn’t there…

Stuff happened. Or didn’t. We did some stuff, then didn’t. LG made a to-do list of things to accomplish around the house. I stared at my WIP. A lot. I go to sleep thinking about it and wake up after having weird dreams. I’ve been having weird dreams anyway…like pigs with pink parisols chasing my dogs. Don’t ask. I have no flippin’ clue! 8-O

Life isn’t a whole lot different, though our pandemic numbers are remailing low so there’s a move to start rolling out a re-open of the state. We’ll continue to take precautions because we aren’t stupid, but I really worry about the small businesses that might not be able to come back from this. We’ll shop and eat locally to help out!

Have a great week, everyone. Stay safe, stay healthy!

Smart to stay away from that snake though I’m sure it was dead. It’s not natural for them to be stretched out like that and not moving.

Had a great experience this afternoon at 1 o’clock. Stefan Hauser, 1/2 of 2CELLOS, played a free concert over YouTube. Here’s the link if you’re interested – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eYuUAV4YE4&src=Linkfire&lId=1282b86d-28ef-41ce-9422-c4226841b83b&cId=d3d58fd7-4c47-11e6-9fd0-066c3e7a8751&fbclid=IwAR2MmR73ORyRhydYdSBN3uDjNQkcdfcESTlP8JyyOWGxbQqXd1QBUsKJOa0
He dedicated it to those on the front lines. Just beautiful. Only a 1/2 long too. Very nice.

Looks like Ohio is opening up for real, though slowly, beginning Friday. Looking forward to stage two when DIL goes back to work and hubs gets to hang with Harrison again. The two of them miss each other like crazy.

Love the bus you and Wizard sent to Turbo. His face says it all – LOVES IT!

    Have a great day!

B.E., wow a copperhead is very scary! No I didn’t see your snake story, I’ll go look for it. Okay I’m back, and it’s official, you’re braver than I am! Glad you were able to move the snake to safety :-)

Glad your weekend went well, normal stuff is good these days!

Silver, Umm, pigs with pink parasols chasing your dogs??? Bwhahaha!! Why are you terrifying your dogs in your dreams??? Seriously though, weird dreams are pretty normal.

There are no easy answers these days, but a lot of people sure THEY know the right one. I’m worried about the financial impact on a lot of people, it’s going to be brutal. We clearly need to reopen as quickly as possible, and I wish we knew more about this virus. It’s such a wild card that all we can do is try with reasonable precautions and see what happens. Like you and LG, Wizard and I are taking precautions but we all have to live.

    Happy Monday!

Viki, I suspected it was dead too, but again, not taking the chance!

I haven’t watched it yet, but what a lovely tribute to all the frontline workers. Sounds like it was a boost to your day too, and we all need that.

I think I saw your state’s plan. We’re all holding our breath, I think, hoping these businesses can get up and running, and regain a healthy bottom line without sacrificing health.

Turbo seemed to love the tent :-) I’m with you on wanting a haircut and color.
