Weekend Roundup

Happy Monday!

Friday–Wizard and I got deshagged with haircuts, and in my case, color. It feels nice. We did this with a friend, but are hoping salons will open soon. I trust my hairdresser to handle cleanliness, social distancing and masks. Later on Friday I make chewy chocolate cookies, and I made them small so Turbo can eat one (always with his parents permission, I never give him junk food unless his mom okays it).

Saturday, we went to Turbo’s house. First thing, Turbo and Grandpa disappeared to play trucks (Translation: Grandpa snuck off with Turbo while I was distracted, LOL) I sat at the table with Turbo’s parents for a quiet 15 minutes and remember that, oh yeah, they are fun to be with too :-) Then we played outside and Turbo’s mom and dad said I could give Turbo a cookie.  Here is is enjoying the cookie.

He loved it, and said, “Thank you Grandma: and “I love you Grandma.” I have it on video, which is basically a tutorial on “How to train Grandma to keep bringing me more homemade cookies.”

In the picture, you can see how long Turbo’s hair is, so since they are not taking him out, the four of us coaxed him through a hair cut with clippers. Now his hair is out of his face, and off ears and off his neck, he’ll be more comfortable for a while.  That kid has a ton of hair!

Sunday I got a little writing done, but I’m feeling my way as I figure out the next one to three scenes before I spin off to the climax. I will keep going! Everything can be fixed later.  Also Youngest and his wife stopped by to pick up his cookies (I was a busy baker this weekend, but managing to give most of them away.) Maggie is always sure they came to see HER!. She love, love, LOVES Youngest now.

Expanding our stay-at-home-isolation to include direct family has helped us to feel better. Now I just really miss seeing Middle Son, his wife and two dogs. But we’ll get there soon as we work out timing issues.

That was my weekend, how was yours?

I’m so glad you’re getting to connect with your family again. You’ll see Middle Son and the gang soon. :hugs: Turbo is such a cutie-patootie. Yay for cookies! Yay for writing!

Another quiet weekend here. I didn’t get any writing done, but I’m not beating myself up about it right now. The coffee cake I made is almost gone. Those never last long. Today I’ll make another cake – probably chocolate again. I might take Owl to a store for the first time since she got here, since things are loosening up and she’s in desperate need of getting out of the house for more than a walk. Other than that, we did some outside stuff we’ve been putting off – cleaning the oak flowers off the roof so the gutters have good flow, clearing crap out of the drainage areas around the house. It’s been splooshy wet here, so necessary stuffs.

I don’t care what the “experts” say, that face-to-face with family is freaking important! So very happy you got to spend time with 2/3s of the family. 💖 And yay for cookies! 🍪🍪🍪

Our weekend was mostly quiet. I managed a couple of intense writing sessions and finished up the “new” Part 2 of the WIP. Today, I’m on to Part 3, which is written but I want to proofread and look for some areas where I can expand for more reader satisfcation. 😉

Did laundry, helped LG decide on stuff to toss or giveaway in the garage–mostly toss, and watch Live PD. My life is so exciting.

Have a great week! I’m headed to the kitchen for more coffee and then on to Part 3! ☕ = 🖥

And I forgot… I DID cut my hair, taking it really short, but not with the clippers. I just used my barber scissors. :D

Wizard is tricky ;) sneaking off with Turbo. At least you got to spend time with the adults and remember they are fun to hang with ;).

The cookies look great and just the right size too. “How to train a grandma” is great :). It’s so cute when they finally calls us by a name. Harrison just started calling me grandma Vik. It’s cute.

Glad you were able to get your hair done. Doesn’t look like Cassie is going to have a job. She is a stylist at Penney’s and they bankrupt. So I’m continuing to watch mine hair grow and become more and more silver.

Turbo does have a ton of hair. You were smart to distract him and clean it up a bit. Don’t want it in his eyes and possibly scratch his cornea.

We had a cookout with middle, DIL, and Queso. It was nice. We all stayed apart and agreed NOT to tell eldest that we all got together.

I ordered Harrison a chalkboard placemat. It looked like fun. Turbo might like them too. Here’s the link https://imaginationstarters.com/collections/all-products

Maggie has a new favorite in BLB ;). Good job baking for the kids too. Hope you get to see middle and DIL soon.

    Have a great day!

B.E., I’m happy to feel like I’m making progress again.

Good for not beating yourself up. There’s a time to push, and a time to ease up. And of course, you can never have too much cake :-)

I bet your daughter is going a little stir crazy.

Getting the drains cleared is necessary, especially with the amount of rain you guys have gotten this year!

Hope the week is starting off right!

Silver, for me, this whole thing has made me even more grateful for vaccines. But we each have to figure out what works best for us, while protecting those we love, especially little ones.

You’re making steady progress! That’s awesome!

Hope you love your shorter hair!

    Happy Monday :-)

Viki, That’s so cute that Harrison calls you Grandma Vik. Since Turbo calls his other grandparents by their Vietnamese versions of Grandma and Grandpa, we haven’t had to differentiate.

Oh no for Cassie :-( I’m so sorry. I saw Pennys filed for bankruptcy. I hope Cassie can find something else if she wants to keep working. Is there anyway she can do your hair for you?

That cookout sounds like a great time, except that you all feel you have to hide it. But families can be complicated at times, and right now, pressure, worry and uncertainty is getting to us all.

I love those chalkboard placemats! I’m trying to resist the urge to order Turbo one, but the temptation is strong!

Maggie is just spoiled, LOL. But she really does love BLB, which is interesting since she was so scared of him in the beginning.

Hope Monday, and the whole week, is good to you!
