Weekend Roundup

What a sad week and weekend in the U.S. I care deeply, and am as affected as most of us. However, I managed a small self-inflicted injury yesterday that gave me a small headache so I’ll just skip ahead to some lighthearted stuff.

Friday night we saw Middle Son for his birthday. I think it’s been nearly eight weeks since we’ve seen him, or something like that. It was wonderful. I made him lemon pound cake (his favorite), his lovely wife made salad and picked up some pizza–it was perfected. And I got to hang out their awesome dogs, Jett and Hazel.

Saturday we went to CPA Boy’s. I babysat Turbo, while they repainted the patio cover. As soon as we got there, I said, “Turbo, let’s go play trucks.” He took my hand, ran in his room and we played the entire two hours. So Turbo stands up, bends at the waist to hold his trucks on the ground and runs with them across the house. He wanted Grandma to do this, and of course, I did. I was rather impressed with myself–until my daughter-in-law popped her head in, saw me, and tried so hard to resist laughing at how silly and undignified I looked.

She failed….I saw her laughter. And that made me laugh :-) Honesty, her expression–priceless!

Sunday, we returned so Wizard could help them stretch a new canvas covering over the repainted patio cover. I was playing with Turbo, when I jogged to catch him at a doorway, scooped him up in one arm, and tripped. Turbo was fine! I had him secured, and caught myself with my other foot before I fell very far. Unfortunately my face forgot to stop, and hit a doorknob. I now have a black eye. Sigh. This was me yesterday, after Wizard encouraged me to lay down. I’m sure it’ll be more colorful tomorrow.

CPA Boy said, “Mom, why did I inherit your goofiness?” Ummm…I don’t think that was a compliment?

Anyway, I’m fine, just irritated at myself.

I hope everyone is safe and okay. I’m worried about you all. Please check in and let me know how you are, and how your weekend was.

Damn, girl, that sounds like something I’d do. Ouch. Glad you’re fine, if irritated and bruised. Glad Turbo is fine, too. Yay for spending time with the family!

Everyone here is safe and okay, too. I spent the past three mornings weeding. Yesterday, the weeding went beyond and I ended up redoing the little path I have next to the iris bed. It needs new gravel, but I’m not there yet. At least this wasn’t like the last time I did it, when I wasn’t paying heed to the incline and fell down. I still have a lot of weeding to do, but it’s progress. Other than that, I made a boxed cake and franken-frosting (because I didn’t have enough powdered sugar). It turned out pretty good. Needs ice cream, which I will pick up today.

Darn doorknob! Glad it’s only a black eye. I’m good. Still working. Beautiful weather in Iowa this weekend and I got some weeding done. Haven’t seen my family since Christmas and it’s getting old. We had a 2 hour Zoom call yesterday and it was nice to get caught up. Stay safe!

Damn, Jen. You’ve been hanging around me and LG again! Ice, darlin’, but you know that. 💖 So glad you got family time and had fun, despite the injury. Stupid doors.

Things here are… Just “are.” Not as bad as other places but we had a friend whose business was vandalized over the weekend. 🤬 Moving on.

It’s Monday. The weather is nice. Crows are entertaining Loki. Jake got a double dose of soccer. Stormy scored a goal. Yay! Then he went home and watched the SpaceX launch because he wants to be an astronaut, don’cha know. 🥰

Found out my cover disigner encountered some file corruption, hence the delay on my cover. She has a template for the Moonstruck books and is trying to rebuild it. Stuff happens.

We had yummy Chinese takeout last night. Our fave place still hasn’t opened to diners but they are totally awesome at the takeout game. Good stuffs.

Not much else going on here. We’re good but plan to stick close to home for awhile. Because, you know, that’s what we’ve been doing for months now. 🤣

    Take care of you! 💖💖💖

B.E., thanks, I’ll be fine. It was such a freak thing to have happen.

I got sore just reading about your weeding weekend :-) I’m glad you didn’t fall this time though. But accidents happen, especially to those of us sometimes trying to do a little too much and not paying attention.

Yay for your cake. I may make myself some semi-healthy cookies today.

Hope your week is off to a decent start, or as good as it can be after the week and weekend we’ve all had.

Carrie, thanks, it could have been a lot worse, so I’m with you and glad too.

Yay for good weather, and being able to get yard work done.

Ugh, I’m sorry you haven’t seen your family in so long. But facetime or zoom calls help a lot. I hope you’re able to do more of those until you can see them in person.

Hope you have a good week!

Silver, LOL, yep lots of ice (it helped!) and advil or tylenol.

I’m so sorry about your friend’s business. I hope the damage wasn’t too bad, and I hate that I even had to say that. I’m quite sure we all have a lot to say, I truly feel for all who were hurt by this nightmare.

I bet Stormy loved the launch! We did :-) We couldn’t get home in time to see the actual launch, so Wizard streamed it on his phone–technology rocks sometimes.

Oh no, your designer’s file corruption is an example of technology sucking. Hope she can rebuild it quickly for you.

Isn’t it great to have yummy food you didn’t have to cook?

Hope your friend’s business will recover without too much pain, and that your week goes as well as possible.

When I opened my email this morning and saw your eye I wondered how you got hurt playing with Turbo. It looks pretty sad. Did Turbo hold ice on it for you?

I’m glad you had such a nice time celebrating Middle son’s birthday. It must have been great to finally get together after all these weeks. I can’t wait until there is a vaccine or the virus goes away. Cassie will finally let us near them when that happens.

Get this. Friday Cassie and Harrison were playing wack a mole and he hit her in the left eye with the mallet. She has a black eye and a small cut in the center of her eye lid.

This past weekend was awful. My youngest son’s office building and several others they own downtown Cleveland were trashed. The city is under curfew until Tuesday night so he won’t be going to work until Wednesday. It really is insane how these terrorists that have nothing to do with anything are destroying cities and robbing people blind. I truly feel for the Floyd family and especially since these creeps are high jacking the families pain.

Not much is really happening here except allergies are REALLY bad.

I hope you have a great week and stay safe and healthy.

Viki, I don’t think Turbo realized I was hurt. I had him in a football hold because of the way I was scooping him up, and he he was looking way. I gave him to Grandpa while I stopped the bleeding. He was outside with Grandpa and his dad while I put ice on it. It still didn’t look too bad until we got home.

Amen on the vaccine or virus going away. I wish you could see Harrison. This virus if forcing us into cruel choices.

Ouch! Poor Cassie! My story is just so stupid, I’m surprised anyone believes me, except…I’m me :-) At least Cassie’s story sounds plausible.

That is horrible about youngest son’s office building and others places. The vandalism and looting are infuriating, disgusting and will ruin people’s livelihoods. It’s just wrong. I’m so sorry.

And allergies on top of everything else just proves the world is not a fair place. I hope you feel better. Hugs.
