Weekend Roundup

Happy Monday! The weekend was as good as possible with our country in turmoil. In the last few days, I’ve put my head down and worked. It’s easier for me to solve problems in fictional worlds than in our real world.

Which is why we read fiction :-)

So my weekend. Saturday, both Wizard and I hadn’t slept well and were tired and achy (but not sick). But we both agreed it’d do us good to push through, and we were right!  Turbo and his parents came over. Then his dad left to go help Youngest Son’s finish painting the inside of his garage. Turbo, Special K, Grandpa and I all hung out and played here, along with Maggie of course. I have video of Grandpa helping Turbo drive one of the radio control cars (the grown up kind, not toys). That RC car is a monster truck and Turbo loved it. It was an awesome moment for grandpa too :-)

In what’s become a pattern, Turbo cried when he left :-( But once I assured him he could come back to Grandma’s house anytime, he stopped. When they were getting in the car, he did the usual saying bye and blowing kisses to grandma and grandpa. then Turbo waved toward the garage and said, “Bye Monster Truck.” It was so danged cute!

Sunday, I worked on editing the print copy. I’m at 450 pages, and just have 50 more to go. The first half to two-thirds of the book seems to be flowing, and the last third or so needs some cutting and tightening. My biggest concern has been, and still is, pacing. But doing this gives me a better overall sense of where I can tighten that up. Once I finish this, I’ll start on revisions, but I don’t think they’ll be any big ones, just cleaning up, some cutting, fixing and tightening.

Bigger revisions while come from my editor later, but I’m just focusing on each step.

And that was pretty much it for me. How was your weekend?

OMG, so danged cute! I’m so glad you can be with your family again. Sorry you two had a tired and achy Saturday, though. I hear that. Good for you for pushing through. Go you on the book!

It was a weekend? Hubs and I spent time weeding. Other than that, it was like two weekdays. I worked on spreadsheet stuff, watched TV, read, etc. Yesterday afternoon, I got a wild hair and made a double batch of applesauce bread. I never bake in the afternoons, especially when it’s this hot, but for some reason, it was a necessity.

Awwww! Totally melting at Turbo’s cuteness! Yay on edits, boo on tireds, yay on family time.

There was a weekend. It was hot with mid-day back-to-back soccer games. Stormy scored goals and is learning teamwork so he set up the ball for other teammates to score. I remember sunscreen so didn’t burn but we left Jake home. 90+ and no shade is hard on furry doggos.

I’m working on front and back matter while waiting on the cover. I need to nudge Only again. She gets busy with all that she has going on, which is good but…can’t put a book up for sale without a cover.

Not much else going on in my world. Like you, I’m going to hang out in the worlds where I can control stuff. The real-life crazy has me ducking for cover. Here’s to a better week for us all!

I’m so glad you and Wizard pushed through the achy tiredness and were able to have fun with Turbo and his parents :). I bet that video of Turbo and grandpa with the remote control truck is a killer ;). In fact, I bet Wizard is cuter than Turbo in the video because he’d be having so much fun. I love it when men turn into mush with the grand kids :).

How can it get any cuter than to have Turbo say good-bye to the monster truck — awwwww.

You were quick on the draw calming Turbo down telling him he can come to your house any time. Smart.

Wow, you did quite a bit of work on the book too. You had a busy weekend.

We did stuff around the house, nothing big. I have to clean all the windows again because the exterminator spray got all over them :(. I have to wait for low humidity days when my arm can take it. Yup, I have to spread it out :(.

It’s going to be super hot 95+ and humid tomorrow. I am not looking forward to that!

    Have a great week!

    B.E, thanks on all :-)

Hopefully you’re weekends will be more exciting as sports returns. Wizard has been remarkably good natured about it, but he really misses it, and I imagine you do to.

I will bake in the afternoon if the mood strikes. Obviously you needed applesauce bread!

Hope your week is off to a great start!

    Silver, thanks :-)

Oh man, I feel for you on back to back soccer games in the heat. But yay Stormy!!! And yeah, Jake would roast in the heat.

Getting front and back matter done is good. Hope Only can get some time soon to work on the cover soon.

Fiction is definitely a good place to be right now. I want a world with clear rules and heroes.

    Happy Monday!

Viki, Wizard loves Turbo so much it melts my heart. He was like that with our kids, but he also had all the stress of working and parenting. He’s relishing the Grandkid experience of mostly all fun and little stress–at least at this age.

Cleaning windows is tough work and very hard on your arm. Bummer that the exterminators got overspray on them, but I’m guessing they were doing all the seals so it was inevitable. We are overdue to clean windows here.

I hear you on spreading out work.

Humidity sucks. I hope it doesn’t make you ache too much (it does me, so I figured it might do that to you too.)

Hope you’re week is starting off right.
