Weekend Roundup

Okay, guys, who let Boring Jen in this weekend?

Saturday morning I worked on the Wing Slayer Hunter Series timeline. That’s an ongoing project that requires me to slowly reread each book and take notes as I go. It’s slow, but I’m going to be happy to have it down the road.

Saturday afternoon, I read through all my editor’s notes on SAVAGED DEVOTION.  She did a great, and in depth, job. The fun fact here is the second part that I wrote fast is much better than the first part where I was lost the woods. Overall, though, it’s fixable. The first half will be the biggest chunk of work to fix Liza’s emotional arc and the pacing.

Sunday, I typed out a 10 page timeline/outline for SAVAGED DEVOTION.  I had it handwritten, but the more books I write, the more I realize having timelines is super helpful, including for revisions. It really helps me see where I can cut and combine scenes to get rid of repetition and amp up pacing.

Now how do I get rid for Boring Jen who spends weekends working?

How was your weekend?

I like Boring Jen. Of course, I like Not-Boring Jen, too, but Boring Jen gets stuff done. Go Boring Jen! ;o)

Boring Beth was boring. It’s too hot to do much of anything. I made ice cream this weekend – the recipe, which I stole from Silver and tweaked – is on my blog today. Other than that, boring. We did find out that Chester Chipmunk has taken up residence in my front flower bed. We were wondering where the hole came from and then we saw him fill his cheeks with birdseed and disappear down the hole. Better than moles living there.

I like Jen no matter who she is at the moment. ;) Yay for fixable! And timelines! I should do timelines. I should do name lists. I start both and then…yeah. Anyway.

I slept a lot this weekend. Stormy came Friday afternoon and stayed until just after noon on Saturday. He and his Big Daddy had fun organizing Hot Wheels. I didn’t do much oif anything but fix “baloney sammiches” and sausage biscuits. And nap. Lots of naps. I intended to work. I napped.

So yeah, can I be sergeant-at-arms of the boring club? Here’s to a more productive and less boring week for all of us!

Boring Jen is smart Jen. You got tons of work done and that is goodness.
I’m amazed how quick your editor turned around Savage Devotion. You have already started working on it too. That’s great.
You know, having learned how to address your medical issues over the last couple years with writing is going to be a big help with the revisions.
Now to get rid of boring Jen, put it all away and you and Wizard go have a great weekend. Isn’t your birthday coming up? YES! Turn it into a non-boring Jen time :-P .

We didn’t do much this weekend. It was hot and humid and then we had a storm come through yesterday afternoon. All in all it was a good weekend.

    Have a great evening!

B.E., you’re not boring, but you’re right about one thing, it’s too hot to do much. I’m staying inside, I’m really not even going in the pool much.

Chester Chipmunk is creating mischief, LOL! Will he dig up your plants? If he’s just hanging out and not causing trouble, then that sounds entertaining.

    Ice cream is always good!

Silver, timelines are useful, but they are a crapton of work too. It took me forever yesterday, and that was mostly off my handwritten notes.

However it helped me get a clear picture of exactly where I need to do the work. Now I just need to figure out how I want to cut, rearrange and rewrite those scenes.

Sounds like you really needed the rest. I’m wondering if you’re insomnia is torturing you? I didn’t sleep last night, and yeah, it’s exhausting. Glad you got much needed rest and some Stormy time.

I’m all for a more productive week. May the ideas and words flow!

Viki, thanks I got a lot done, but today, I only worked a couple hours and peetered out since I didn’t sleep much last night. That’s okay though. But I definitely don’t want to always work weekends.

My editor put one of her big life changes on hold due to Covid, so she had the time and she is immensely helpful. I still have to figure out the solutions, but knowing the precise problems is half the battle.

Maybe the heat is wearing us all out alone with Covid. Ugh on the humidity. You were wise to stay inside and not do much.

Hope your week is off to a good start, and the weather gets a little more comfortable.
