Friday Five

TGIF! Jumping right into Friday Five:

  1. This revision is a challenge! I’m diving in and doing what I can. I thrive on challenge and chocolate! At least one of those two things in the last sentence are true, LOL!
  2. Maggie got a bath this week!
  3. My herbs are still living. I need to go to Home Depot and buy a bigger pot for my bell pepper plant, but I know I’ll come out of the garden shop with more than I intended.
  4. I don’t miss the gym. Also, I look like I don’t miss the gym :-)
  5. Turbo is supposed to come over tomorrow. It will be fun, exhausting and a good break from writing/revising in one world and reading/working on the series timeline in another world.

That’s my short and boring Friday Five, and now I’d love to hear yours. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

You’ve got this. So pretty, Maggie! Yay for herbs and other growing things. LOL about the gym. Yay for Turbo time!

    1) I made zucchini bread a couple days ago. With one loaf given to the neighbor who gave me the zucchini and the other loaf half gone already, I’m already defrosting more zucchini for another batch. It’s crack, I swear.
    2) An author I follow messaged me that his new book was out. I one-clicked it and then devoured it. Yay. Then I started another book, so my reading slump may just be over. Double yay.
    3) We have a bunny hanging out in the yard again. This year’s Bun-Bun. (The bunnies may change, but the name never does.)
    4) My life is majorly boring right now.
    5) No, seriously, it’s boring. ;o)

You’re up to the challenge. I’ll send more chocolate! Pretty Maggie. Turbo Time! And you DO have a green thumb after all. Plus…who needs the gym, right?!? Okay, my five:

    1. Finding chocolate peanut clusters during the “Pandora” has become a thing. My last Wallyworld trip netted me semisweet chocolate chips and peanuts. I found a microwave recipe. Pretty darn yummy but they melt in your hand if you don’t eat fast. I may try “chunk” chocolate next time. See, I wasn’t kidding. I CAN send you more chocolate. ;)

    2. The week started with a writing bang and then sort of fizzled. Hopefully, today will make up for the mid-week slump.

    3. I’ve been listening to SOUTH OF THE BUTTONWOOD TREE by Heather Webber. It’s southern magic realism. I LOVED her MIDNIGHT AT THE BLACKBIRD CAFE from last year. In fact, it made my best books of the year list. It’s perfect for my headspace, but it’s almost over so that sorta makes me sad.

    4. Still hot but not as hot as it could be, so there’s that.

    5. Baseball is back for a shortened season, so there’s that too, but we’ve discovered we can’t start watching until the first inning has already started. For reasons…

Anyway, like B.E., life is mostly boring but I suppose that beats several alternatives. Have a great weekend, everyone!

    1. Revisions must be a pain in the butt. Thank heaven for chocolate.
    2. Maggie looks very happy to have had a bath. Pretty girl and knows it :-D.
    3. Hope you found the perfect pot and other fun items.
    4. That’s okay about the gym. The desire will come back when it should.
    5. I hope you get to see Turbo.

1a. Went shopping and heard a young person really being mean to an older man. He had said he was having trouble with the masks and she said nothing. Then he got behind her in line. She screamed at him because he was 3 inches inside the 6 foot rule. All I could think was what a BI**CH.
2a. Harrison is having fun showing us the food in his mouth. Boys learn young.
3a. Harrison’s dad is doing landscape to earn money. No job stinks.
4a. I got up off the couch this morning and somehow hurt my back. Getting old is awful.
5a. No real plans again this weekend. We’re one of the few counties in Ohio that is not having a covid issue but we’re still supposed to limit activity.

I hope you have a great weekend!

B.E., lol, not sure I’ve got this, but I’ll figure it out. I like the challenge of revisions as long I walk way when I don’t have the answer yet.

    1) I saw you were making zucchini bread on FB. Lots of yum!
    2) Always a win to find a book and author you love.
    3) Too funny on the name. Bunny’s love gardens :-)
4 & 5) I think we all feel boring right now. It’s just hard times, and social media often adds to the gloom and doom. Zucchini bread, good books and Bun-Bun are excellent antidotes.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Silver, I can use mountains of chocolate. As revisions good, this one is middle-hard, so not impossible. Challenges are good for us.

    1) Oh my gosh that sounds delicious.
    2) Slumps happen, and they pass so hang in there.
    3) I get sad too when a book I love is almost over. I may have to check those out. The one I’m listening to now is a major letdown.
    4) Hope you guys get a break from the heat.
    5) It’s really a sucky sports year all around. I hope you get some enjoyment from the fanless (unless we’re counting cardboard cutouts) games.

For sure, boring is better than some alternatives. Stay well and have the best weekend possible!

Viki, I solved the problem of potentially buying more than the pot by taking Maggie with me to Home Depot. That way I wasn’t trying to juggle multiple items and her leash :-) She had a great time, came home and slept from the excitement and random compliments from nice people, LOL!

    1) Jeeze, some people are jerks. I’m so sorry for that poor guy. I had the opposite today, everyone wore masks and were polite and friendly in the Home Depot garden department. Why can’t everyone be like that? It’s not hard.
    2) Oh Harrison, you crack me up! I don’t think James has learned that yet, but I could be wrong.
    3) Your poor son, and so many others going through that through absolutely no fault of their own. it’s crazy. But I admire the heck out of him for doing whatever he has to do. I mean that with total sincerity.
    4) I winced for your poor back. These days, it happens that easy. I hope your back feels better soon.
    5) I feel you on no real plans. We are tired of it too, even if we intellectually understand the need.

I hope your back feels better and you guys have a good weekend despite the restrictions.
