Friday Five

TGIF!  Okay, here’s my five random things about this week:

  1. So my revisions are slow, and I’ve pulled out my chef’s knife and chop and combine some scenes. There’s no pretty (or easy) way to do this, so I’m diving in and slashing. The plan is to get rid of the boring stuff and kick up the action. Wish me luck, and maybe send Band Aides!
  2. I made Youngest son cookies in my brand new stand mixer that Wizard got me for my birthday. It’s a 5.5 quart Cuisinart with the attachments I need and I’m going to love the mixer!
  3. I made Youngest cookies to test it, and because on my birthday, he couldn’t eat the amazing chocolate cake my daughter-in-law (Special K) made. By the way, he didn’t complain that he couldn’t eat the cake, there was plenty of food he enjoyed. I just like to do it for him because he’s such a good sport.
  4. Today I’m off to the doctor’s to get a long overdue shot in my bad ankle, then run some errands right after a shot in the swollen ugly joint. Hmm…I may not have planned that well, LOL! But in 24 to 48 hours, the shot will kick in and I’ll be good. Plus errands will be done :-)
  5. This weekend, Wizard is helping Oldest with something in his house, which means I get to play with Turbo.

So that’s my five, now I’d love to hear yours! Hope everyone has a great and healthy weekend!

Good luck with the slashing! Ooo, pretty. I have mixer envy. Yay for cookies! Good luck with the shot and errands. Yay for Turbo time!

    1) My writing thing for the month (which Silver renamed AuGoWriMo – August Go Write Month) is going well. Seven days of writing in a row. That’s some kind of record for me this year, I think.
    2) I’m also doing pretty good on my resolve to be more active again. Also seven days straight. Woohoo.
    3) I did more zucchini bread yesterday so I’d have a loaf ready for some neighbors who were bringing us tomatoes and peppers. Then I did a homemade pizza for dinner. I’m counting all the stirring and kneading as exercise. ;o)
    4) I can’t believe it’s already Friday.
    5) Our five fawns are growing so fast. One of them is a husky little bugger. And so pushy. Gotta be a buck fawn. I’ve named him Little Joe. (After Joe Frasier, the boxer, because Little Joe likes to get up on his hing legs and box at the other fawns.)

    Have a great weekend! :hugs:

Cut and slash and mush! You go, girl! Yay Turbo! NICE present for your b-day. My Kitchenaid stand mixer is 35 years old and still runs like a trooper. Yay for family time, cake and cookies! My five:

    1. LG and I celebrated 37 yesterday. I ordered and he picked up BBQ for dinner and we ate in the family room watching the Royals beat the Cards.

    2. We have 2 new feral kittens. I’ve seen the little gray twice and the little brown/gray once. They are fuzzy and cute and I wish I could catch them.

    3. Speaking of wildlife, I finally saw a hummingbird at the feeder. They’ve probably been there because I have had to refill it once this summer, it’s just that I never looked up at the right time.

    4. Like B.E., I’m doing AuGoWriMo. I’ve added almost 10K words to the WIP, but stalled out the past two days. Got words done, but hundreds instead of thousands. Ah well. Words are words!

    5. Stormy is coming today for several hours while Baseball Boy goes to a meeting at his high school. School start time and whether virtual or in-person is up in the air. They are really hoping that Stormy’s school will coincide with BB’s schedule. Fingers crossed.

And that’s it for me this week. Feeling more hopeful even though we’re losing our cooler weather, relatively speaking. Have a great weekend, everyone. We have no plans. Just gonna hang and I hope for MANY words!

    1. Sending you tons of luck and slicing and dicing power for the revisions.
    2. Love your new mixer. Is it heavy? My Kitchen Aid is VERY heavy. But they do a great job :). I hope you love yours, I’m sure you will.
    3. Good mom making youngest cookies. Our boys always appreciate their moms :-P .
    4. Ouch! I sure hope the shot makes you feel better.
    5. Have a wonderful time playing with Turbo.

1a. Went to make popcorn last night and decided to just pitch the popper. No popcorn. The thing was 20 years old and a mess. Will be buying a new one tomorrow.
2a. Couldn’t stand the look of the kitchen floor (hubs spilled ice cream and broke the bowl) and even though I already was aching I washed it. It looks great and I will be having a drink shortly.
3a. I’m really enjoying Darynda Jones’ A Bad Day for Sunshine. She writes fun books.
    4a. It’s Spunk’s 7th birthday tomorrow – break out the tuna
5a. Ordered slippers from dearfoams and what a mess. They lost them in shipping and I called. They have sent a replacement but yesterday the original pkg arrived only it contained nothing even close to what I ordered (style, color and size all wrong). Called again. They told me to donate them. Will do. Now I wait to see if the replacement shipment arrives.

I hope you have a great weekend and have tons of fun with Turbo!

B,E., I slashed one scene, and took half a day how to do a one sentence fix, LOL! Now for you:

    1) Yay for your 7 day AuGoWriMo streak!
    2) And for 7 days of movement!
    3) You have nice neighbors, and you are a nice neighbor :-)
    4) Me either, yet Friday happens every week so why are we surprised?
    5) Little Joe sounds fun to watch even if he’s a bit of a bully.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Silver, my kitchen aid wasn’t that old, but the beaters were shot and making a terrible racket when I used it. I’m jazzed with my new one!

    1) HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!
    2) I bet the kittens are adorable. Will you keep them if you catch them? Will Loki agree with this plan?
    3) Well with feral cats around, they probably choosing their feeding times carefully.
    4) Hundreds of words will be thousands if you keep going! AuGoWriMo is going to be a thing.
    5) Sheehs, it’s so tough of parents with school aged kids right now, and even more complex when a parent works at the school. Crossing my fingers it all works out. Happy Stormy Time!

    Enjoy your writing weekend!

Viki, shot only stings for a few seconds, and usually gives me a lot of relief. My doctor brought in an intern to see my mess of an ankle. I was amused.

    1) You’re old popcorn popper served you well if it gave you 20 years.
    2) I bet you’re even more achy after washing the floor.
    Hope the drink helps.
    3) Nothing like a drink AND a great book to helps us forget our aches and annoyances!
    4) No way, Spunk is 7??? I still think of him as kitten like. Happy Birthday, Spunk!
    5) Wow that is a mess. I hope the right slippers arrive soon.

Hope you have a good weekend!
