Weekend Roundup

I lost Saturday to an unscheduled visit by evil stomach trolls. Let’s move onto happier subjects. Sunday I did a few things to get ready for Youngest and Daugher-in-law coming over for dinner to celebrate her birthday tonight. Overall, dinner should be simple enough to make. But, of course, I’m making her a cake. The problem is Youngest Son can’t eat the cake. So as I was getting ready to run to the store, I had this conversation with Wizard:

Wizard: “You’re not making two desserts. Youngest is a grown man, he will be fine if he can’t eat the cake.”

Witch: “What? I’m sorry I didn’t catch that.”

Wizard: Repeats himself.

Witch shaking my head: “Maybe speak slower? I’m not following your point.”

Wizard TELLS ME AGAIN SLOWLY AND IN MORE DETAIL.

Witch: “Huh, I think we have a communication problem, can you try another language?”

Wizard switched to sign language, but um, I can’t repeat what he said :-) Then I did what I was going to do anyway, I made Youngest his special cookies. And today I’ll make a cake that I hope daughter-in-law likes. Then they can take cookies and cake home with them.

That was my weekend, how was yours?

UPDATE: As I was writing this blog Sunday afternoon, Wizard was in the kitchen eating some of the cookies he didn’t want me to make :-)

Of course he was! 🤣🤣🤣 You are a good mom and mom-in-law. Enjoy the dinner. Sorry for the tummy troubles.

We were pretty much slugs this weekend. I got some words written, we dined on fast food, I didn’t leave the house except to sit out in the yard with Boone because he doesn’t like to go out by himself these days. He’s old and arthritic so we don’t mind. I just took a cup of coffee and my phone to listen to Audible while out there.

Did I mention we pretty much acted like slugs all weekend? Boring but that’s life. :D Here’s to a healthier and more productive week for us all!

I’m shocked that you made BLB his cookies – NOT! That’s a mom thing to do. Wizard is too funny eating said cookies   .
Glad you were able to get together and celebrate DIL’s birthday. I hope you all had a great time.

Sorry you had stomach issues. They always seem to hit at the worst time too.

Middle, DIL, and Queso came over yesterday even with the water issue. They just didn’t use any ;). It was great to see them.

The well guy showed this morning and it sounds like I need a new pump and the well to be cleaned. It’s at least 330 feet down (deep water well). They’re going to try and work us in this week since we’re living on borrowed time.

Do you know how they clean a well? They drop bombs down and blast them at about 150 feet. The shock goes through the stone veins clearing the iron and other deposits allowing water to flow back into the aquifer. Kind of cool.

I hope you have a great week :)!

Silver, aw, thanks. I don’t know if I’m good, but I love them all :-) They’ll be here soon for dinner.

Nope not boring at all. We all need down time. And Boone deserves extra attention these days. Poor guy, I feel for him with arthritis. You’re a good dog mom, seriously. While Maggie is going big time gray, she’s not slowing down much yet. But when she does, I want to be as patient and kind as you are to Boone.

I’m all for a more productive week too!

Viki, I cracked up at Wizard when he ate the cookies too :-)

Thanks on my stomach. I’m doing a test this week to rule out a few things just to be on the safe side.

I’m so glad Middle, wife and adorable puppy came over! You’re very important to them, so I figured they’d find a way to visit despite the water issue.

I know nothing about wells (except that it’s bad to fall down one, LOL) so all this is interesting to me. The way they clean it with bombs is fascinating and fun. That could definitely go in a book!

I hope your week is off to a good start!

Huh, I could’ve sworn I was here this morning, but obviously not. Sometimes I wonder where my brain is at.

Anyway, you guys kill me. Of course, he’ll be fine without cake, but that’s what moms are for. Sheesh. I hope the birthday dinner goes awesome.

The weekend here was a blur. I spent some time putting the house back to hermit mode now that Owl is back in Michigan. The rest was spent in a semi-vegetative state.

B.E., the dinner went well, a very easy evening overall.

So glad your kid got to school okay and hopefully is settling in. I’m sure you had reorganizing to do after she left to get life back into the life-without-kids mode. And semi-vegetative is good for all of us now and then!
