Friday Five

TGIF! Time to share five random things about our week:

  1. I was so convinced yesterday was Friday, I almost forgot to write this blog.
  2. On Monday I was baking and prepping dinner for daughter in law’s birthday, so I didn’t try to write. Instead, I handled time consuming crap I’d set aside. Stuff like filing for a VAT exemption as a US citizen from the IRS for my German publisher, and that department of the IRS is currently closed due to Covid. It’s a hamster wheel of endless fun right there, LOL. I also handled a time-consuming request from another publisher.  I was thrilled to get that stuff off my desk.
  3. I’m finally on task with revisions. Happy Dance! I refuse to fret about all the wasted time trying to figure things out as it’s all part of retraining my writing, revising, editing and marketing muscles. My motto now is to Believe and Keep Going!
  4. Yesterday I did an upper GI x-ray series doctors have been after me to do for years. More progress in my exciting life :-) I’m not having any sudden, new or worrisome symptoms, this is just sort of the medical housekeeping item given my history with stomach issues. The worst part was drinking a version of foaming alka seltzer that tasted like lemon flavored battery acid, chased my some thick goopy vanilla stuff. The two best parts were (1) having great technicians that helped me contort like a pretzel while drinking that stuff; and (2) that I can sign in and see all the images on my computer. And yes, I’m weird.
  5. Turbo will be gone this weekend :-( He’ll have a great time with his parents and cousins, but I’ll miss him. It’ll be two weeks without seeing him. However I’m planning his next chocolate surprise when I do see him (which I already told his dad, who laughed). The upside of not seeing Turbo this weekend is I’ll get more revising done.

That’s my quick and borning Friday Five, now I’d love to hear yours! I hope everyone has a great weekend, and for those with a three-day holiday weekend, stay safe and enjoy!!

Wow! Busy week for you. Pesky paperwork and med stuffs and no Turbo! Hang in there. ;) Okay, my five:

    1. Monday night we had massive storms with 5 1/2 inches of rain and crazy lightning. You’d think it was May, not September. Flash floods and fires. No tornadoes or wind damage. 🌩🌧🌧🌧

    2. I got my line edits for the Feb. ’21 Desire release. I’ve also seen the cover. Gotta stay mum on title and cover for a bit longer and I gotta get those edits done. You can guess what I’m doing today and over the weekend.

    3. I gave blood yesterday. Got an awesome intake gal and a trainee “vampire.” The vamp did a good job because my veins aren’t the easiest. My hemoglobin count is in the great range and I’ll get the other tests (cholesterol, etc.) back later. My blood pressure was up and that’s a bit concerning, especially since I purposeflly ignored the news. Wathcing the stupidity ALWAYS raises my BP. 🧛🏼‍♀️

    4. Had a treat yesterday afternoon–a Carolina wren perched on top of the hummingbird feeder shepherd’s crook singing while a hummer had a mid-afternoon snack. I was amazed as hummers tend to shy away from other birds. 🐦

    5. Tomorrow is pancake breakfast, siren test, and hopefully, Mexican food at our fave restaurant for lunch with the kids. Then it’s home to finish edits I don’t finish today. Fun times! 🥓🥞

Have a great week, everyone! 🥰

    1. Oh no! I haven’t had that happen to me yet ;).
    2. I’m glad you were able to tackle some of the endless “stuff” that tends to build up. Sure hope the IRS office you need opens soon.
    3. Good news on the revisions.
    4. I hope all turns out well with the GI series. I would look at all the images and stuff too if I had the ability. It’s kind of cool to see how you work.
    5. Bummer on no Turbo for 2 weeks in a row. I bet he’s going to have one super duper chocolate surprise when you finally get to see him :).

1a. I’m feeling really “off” today. It’s just strange. I have a normal resting pulse of 43 and when I checked today it was 60 (the same as when I’m working out). I am beginning to feel normal now but I have no idea what was going on.
2a. Hubs went to see Harrison this morning while I waited at home just in case the well dude showed up (NO). I sent over some treats for him. His parents disinfect everything before he gets it and the video him pulling the items out of the bag. He was SO cute and very thankful for all the treats but especially liked the jar of playdough I sent over. Oh right, hubs had a great time playing with him while he was there :).
3a. Looks like it will be some time on Tuesday that the well/pump will be worked on. I hate having to limp along. It’s awful running out of water and all the air constantly in the pipes.
4a. I think I’m just going to grill tuna sandwiches for dinner tonight. I’m not up to a real dinner. No wine either.
5a. Spunk is so funny. He knows when I’m “off” and becomes glued to me. It’s so sweet. I get constant kisses on the back of my hand too. When people say animals don’t have feelings I know they are not too bright.

Have a really nice Labor Day weekend.

Silver, it was nice to get stuff accomplished.

    1) You guys have wild weather there in OK!
    2) No fair teasing about your cover and title! Hope the line edits are light.
    3) Awesome that you gave blood! And definitely keep in eye on your BP.
    4) Very cool!
    5) Tomorrow will be packed but fun. Well the line edits aren’t fun, but have to be done.

I hope all goes well with the pancake breakfast and siren test, and you have a great family lunch!

    Viki, thanks.

    1) Hmm, it’s possible it’s all the stress from the well water issues, but definitely odd. I’m glad you’re keeping an eye on it.
    2) You must have loved the video! LOL on parents disinfecting everything first. Harrison has parents who love him very much and will always protect him. And how can you go wrong with play dough?
    3) I hate that you have to go through another weekend with the water problems. I’m sorry :-(
    4) I really hope you enjoy dinner and feel better.
    5) Animals are the best! Spunk does seem exceptional though, he loves you very much!

I really hope you guys have a good weekend despite the water problems.
