Friday Five

TGIF! It’s time to share five random things about out week. Here’s mine:

  1. We had so much fun with Turbo when he was here. The only issue we had was the middle of the night when he woke and missed his mom. Pretty typical for a two year old. Wizard ended up sending me to bed, then he got Turbo back to sleep and slept with him on the couch downstairs. He’s such a good grandpa! Other than that, Turbo was great. Then when we took him home Monday evening, and his mom made us a delicious dinner. I appreciated that beyond words.
  2. One more Turbo story, the other day Turbo video called to tell me that he got a flu shot and he didn’t cry. I told him he was a big, brave boy for not crying. Turbo’s response was, “I cried on the inside.” That was adorable. None of us know where he got that from, but I sure related. I’ve cried on the inside many times!
  3. My copy editor has started on SAVAGED DEVOTION. I just going to do a soft release (not a huge release plan with lots of promo, etc.) for that book when it’s ready. I’m hoping the book is as solid as I thought to was when I sent it to her.  We’ll see.
  4. After hours of “discussion” with Eli, I think I have a place to start his opening scene. I’m excited about this book! Also, I’ve built a pretty big story bible for this series that’s already 45 pages long. It’s broken up into three major sections: 1) Mythology that has two subsections of World Building & Terms, 2) Character Overview that contains descriptions of all the gods, demons, witches, demon witches, wing slayer hunters, rogues, hybrids & secondary characters), and another section for each book’s Hero and Heroine profile. 3) Series Timeline for each book in order as things happen. It’s in a notebook I can flip through for quick reference and on word docs I can easily access, and update as I go. I ‘m happy with it, and know it will help me as I tackle both PRIMAL MAGIC and then FALLEN MAGIC. I have ideas for at least two more books after that…but I don’t want to get ahead of myself, LOL.
  5. This weekend Wizard has plans for both days and I’m wide open. I might clean something, or see a kid, or write, or take over the world. The possibilities are endless!

That’s my five random things, now I’d love to hear yours! I hope you all have a happy and healthy weekend.

Yay for Turbo Time! And aww for him missing his mommy. And aww for him crying on the inside. Yay for the copy editor getting to work on SD! Fingers crossed for few edits. Yay for finding the opening for Eli and for your story bible. You’ve worked really hard on that. Yay for more books in the future! And yay for having the weekend wide open! Let me know if you need any help after you take over the world. ;o)

    1) After dragging my feet on the edits, I got the proofer notes input last night. Now I just need to do a couple more little tweaks and then I can start formatting. Expected release date: 11/2/20.
    2) I pushed the date back because I have a sale next week on the genie books. Also, now I don’t have to scurry to get the last of this stuff done by Halloween.
    3) It was so hot in the house last night, I turned the AC back on. It’s 66 here right now and it’s supposed to get steadily colder all day until it’s only 47 by 4pm. Blerg. I predict the heat will be back on this afternoon.
    4) Mom had cataract surgery this week. I haven’t talked to her yet, but in my family, no news is good news. I’ll talk to her later this morning and get the skinny.
    5) When I went out to feed the deer the other day, the doe we call Lumpy and one of her twins was standing in the driveway. They stood there and watched me go out and back, then went down to eat followed by her other twin. So cool. =o)

What BE said, with extra hugs for Turbl and cheers for two days of “whatever!” time. ;)

    1. My BIG randomosity is that I released NIGHT WISH and it went live late Tuesday night. I already have an email with the typos I missed. I swear those suckers hide under the bed with the dust bunnies until I turn out the lights. I’ll fix those today and reupload to the ‘Zon and D2D. 🤦🏼‍♀️

    2. BE’s front hit here this morning about 3:30. It was hot–76 in the house about bedtime but with the overhead fans, wind, and windows open, tolerable. Knowing the front was coming, I closed some windows, lowered the rest. I woke up at 4:00 and the temp had dropped inside to 69 so I closed all the windows. Gonna have to break down and turn on the heat at some point because freeze alert for tonight.

    3. I spent a day playing with graphics for NIGHT WISH. That’s about the only marketing I’m doing. I needed something sort of fun and staring at stock photos of sexy guys works for me. OH! I also made a new header for my person FB page. Which means I’ll have to make another after Halloween. Oh, darn.

    4. Next book is due edited and ready to go by November 30. Let’s hear it for NaNoWriMo! Though I’m cheating and getting an early start because…editing.

    5. I splurged on new boots! Two pairs. Same style, different colors. They fit, are really comfortable and were BOGO. $50 for the pair. They look sort of like the old jodphur boots I wore when showing English riding (ankle books with the pants having a strap at the bottom which went over the sole at the heel) but with waffle-stomper soles. The main thing is–cheap and comfy!

So that’s my extremely random 5. Have a great weekend. If you take over the world, let me know. I’ll cheer you on from the sidelines. ;)

    1. I’m so glad Turbo had fun. Wizard is a good grandpa :). I can just imagine how exhausted you two were Monday night.
    2. What a brave boy Turbo is. It is amazing the things these kids come up with :).
    3. Excellent news from your copy editor. I’m really looking forward to seeing how you wrapped the story up.
    4. You and your Wing Slayers, ha ha. I bet Eli gave you quiet a bit of angst. Your bible is a great idea. I bet it really helps with writing the next books.
    5. I vote for Pinky and The Brain and take over the world this weekend :).

1a. Sounds like youngest’s ribs are finally getting better. He’s helping a friend move tomorrow and there is no way he would have done so last weekend.
2a. Hubs was all frightened about getting hos Shingles vaccine because of how bad I reacted. (Note that I react strange to everything) So I threatened to call Harrison and have Harrison tell him to suck it up and be a big boy. Needless to say I didn’t have to make the call. Hubs got the shot and has had no reaction.
3a. I noticed yesterday that my hardwood floor gets cleaner if I just use my hand and a wet cloth. So now I have to muster the energy and get on my hands and knees to clean it really good. Job for the weekend.
4a. Sloppy Joes and beer/wine for dinner.
5a. Hubs bought me a VERY expensive Brahmin bag for our anniversary. I bought it with his blessing and he will give it to me in a couple weeks. But it’s so pretty I want it now :).

    Have a really great weekend!

B.E., I will definitely let you know if I need help :-)

    1) That’s great you got the edits done with only a few tweaks to go.
    2) Smart to space it out.
    3) Talk about extremes from A/C to heat in less than 24 hours.
    4) I’m sure all went well with your mom’s cataract surgery, but I’ll send my positive vibes along. We worry more as our parents age. And isn’t it nice to rust that your mom or whomever took her will call if something’s wrong? I’ve made this a policy with my kids too so they don’t worry. We will tell them if something’s wrong or we need their help with something–we won’t make them guess.
    5) Okay this last one is just too cute! I love it! Totally made my day to read that one!

Hope you have a good weekend!

Silver, thanks, I like having a mix of busy weekends and easygoing weekends :-)

    1) CONGRATS on NIGHT WISH!! I got my copy today. I couldn’t search it out yesterday on Amazon, and today I went to your Amazon author page to find and link to it from there. I’m sure the system will update soon on that. Ugh, typos. They are the bane of most author’s existence.
    2) Yep, you should turn on the heat. Crazy weather in your and B.E.’s neck of the woods.
    3) It’s hard to keep up with it all isn’t it? Hope you were able to get the new FB header made. I need to do that.
    4) NOthing wrong with an early start! It’s incredible how fast you can write a book. I know each book is just as hard as slowler writers like me though. But you do it!
    5) Awesome on the new boots! You deserve them, and if they are comfortable, that’s everything! You didn’t mention the colors so I’m going ot picture you in red and brown. I don’t know why, I just decided you need red boots, LOL!

I love your randomness today. Hope you and the family have a great weekend.

Viki, we were tired, but we didn’t mind. One night is very doable. And Pinky and The Brain works for me, also I’ll save a lot of energy if I don’t have to take over the world.

    1) He must be healing up. Ribs take so long, I really felt sorry for him.
    2) LOLOL!! Using Harrison to shame grandpa into doing the shot is hilarious. I’m going to remember that one!
    3) That’s going to be hard on your hip and leg. I know you’ll do it anyway though :-)
    4) Sounds like an fairly easy dinner with wine. Wine is always good!
    5) Ohhh! How lovely! I’ve looked at those, but I won’t buy it. Funny how we looked at the same bags. I bet you can’t wait to get your hands on it (again). You deserve it!

Hope you don’t work too hard this weekend and have some fun.
