Weekend Roundup

We got through Christmas and we’re almost out of 2020! Although, while I’m the first to laugh at the funny 2020 memes, I don’t think the year is to blame for the crappy year. A novel virus happened and humans acted like humans. But it’s fun to blame 2020 :-)

We had a really nice Christmas. Wizard and I spent the day alone, and made it special together. I managed to surprise him with one of his gifts and that really made me happy. Sunday we went to middle son’s, where he and his wife made delicious steak dinner. CPA Boy, Special K and Turbo joined us in person, and Youngest and his wife joined via Zoom because her job exposes her to Covid a bit more regularly than the rest of us. It was lowkey and perfect. Two years ago, we put a stop to the over the top gift giving, now the adults each have a secret Santa, so we each buy and get one gift. making it simple. We shifted the focus to spending time together and all of us enjoy it more. Of course, we all got Turbo gifts because he’s two and it’s fun :-)  He had a blast too.

It’s after 10pm here as I’m writing this, so I’m tired and going to keep this short. but I’m ready for the holidays to be over now and get back to working and writing.

How was your holiday?

Our Christmas was low-key too. Time with Only, Baseball Boy and Stormy on Christmas morning. We dropped presents off at the BiL/SiLs and then came home. Turkey sandwiches and Hallmark movies. It was nice.

LG went shopping on Saturday–brave soul! The day after Christmas always terrifies me on the retail level. He bought a new 3-head LED light for the garage and new toilet seats. Both are greatly appreciated. And again  Now we’re munching turkey sandwiches and plotting this week and what we won’t be doing for New Year’s.

    Happy almost New Years!

Sounds like you had a very nice time Sunday celebrating with the family. I bet Turbo was a hoot opening gifts.

It must have been quite fun getting a gift for Wizard that surprised and made him happy. I kind of did that with hubs too – a phone sanitizer ;).

Our Christmas was just the two if us until youngest came down to eat ;). We did all the FaceTime with the other two kids/families on Christmas Eve.

Now to plan New Year’s. I know I won’t be cooking on New Year’s Eve. I always do shrimp cocktail and veggie/dip trays. As for New Year’s Day – who knows. Only two (maybe three) of us again so no crown roast of pork. Maybe a small Honey Baked Ham. What about you? Any plans for New Year’s?

    Have a great day!

I’m glad you had a nice Christmas and got to see all the boys, even if you didn’t get to be with them all. :hugs:

It was quiet here, too, but that’s the norm. I finally got the Christmas card from my mom on Saturday, which was a nice after the day present. I still wrote every night and rolled over 30K with the new book last night. All is well. Here’s to a better new year for us all.

Silver, low-key Christmas seemed to be the theme for most of us. Glad you got the important traditions of time with Only and family, turkey sandwiches and Hallmark movies :-)

Did you make your cinnamon buns?

Yay for LG braving the stores to get the new LEG light and toilet seat :-)

Enjoy plotting what you’re not going to do for New Years, LOL!

Viki, Turbo had fun opening his gift and just playing in general. At two and half, he’s pretty easy to please, LOL! Especially since his aunt gave him chocolate :-) I hope you had fun watching Harrison on Facetime opening his gifts too.

Your Hubs is all set for a healthy new year with his phone sanitizer! Wizard’s surprise was a power washer, and i have to credit my youngest son for the idea.

Easy New Year’s Eve and day sound perfect to me. I’m not sure what we’re going to do, but we’ll figure something out, we always do.

B.E., thanks. I made BLB dairy free peanut butter balls and took them over. We stood outside with masks and talked, so that was nice. Plus Zoom helps too.

I’m sorry the mail is so slow there :-) I haven’t noticed it hear lately, but I’m hearing it’s bad in some areas. Times are just weird all over. But I’m glad you finally got your mom’s cared, and I hope she’s doing well.

Your 30k made me cheer for you! Go B.E.!!!!

I’m with you on hoping for a better new year for all of us.
