Weekend Roundup

The highlight of our weekend was Turbo’s birthday. Here’s the cake I made.

I am so out of practice on doing cakes, but I had fun. The side of the cake that’s showing is the “bad” side where I was figuring out how I wanted to do the blue and yellow stripes. I meant to turn the cake around to decorate the top so the “good” side showed. But Wizard came in the house and was helping me layout the design on top and I forgot to turn the cake. **Shrug**  Turbo loved the cake and didn’t care about those details. He told me, “It’s a construction cake!” After he blew out the candles, he had the tractors digging in the cake, LOL. He also ate all the M&Ms out of the tractor buckets :-). I pretty much guessed that was all he’d eat so I figured I was safe giving him those, and I was right. Overall, the cake was worth a day of work to see how happy he was :-) It was fun to gather with all our sons and their wives just to hang out and celebrate.

How was your weekend?

OMG, too cute! Awesome Grandma for the win! I’m so glad you could all get together for his birthday. Gah, I can’t believe he’s already three. Time flies.

I just realized that this year I’ll have ‘known’ you for 15 years. Whoa.

The weekend was quiet here. Totally splooshy, but quiet. We did manage to get a couple walks in between the rain bursts. I started reading your Savaged box set. I’d forgotten how intense those books are. I had to pause after the first book and read something else before starting the second book. I also had to put it down in that scene during the interview where they surprise everyone with the video of that buttwart, because my heart was thumping for Liza. That’s some good stuff there.

Anyway… I got my own book done and off to readers, so have loads of free time to read other people’s books for a change. =o)

That cake is toooo cute! And if you hadn’t said something, I wouldn’t notice that was the bad side. Heck, I stared at the pic after reading your description and I STILL couldn’t see where you messed up. I bet Turbo had a blast with it and yay for family time!

Stormy’s party was fun. The two guys from Snapology had them building all sorts of things with the Legos. Then there were games at the end of the building period and the birthday boy won a Snapology t-shirt. It was a fair contest and he won the balls-in-buckets toss. The guys set it up so all the kids won at least once and got big puffy stickers. Only bought cupcakes that had Lego blocks stuck in the whipped cream icing. They were pretty yummy. She admitted it was the least stressful birthday party ever! Stormy isn’t actually 7 until next Monday, but they kids had fun.

Sunday, I got a big chapter written. Then last night, I kept stewing about it because of where the hook ended the chapter. Long story but the scenes in this chapter were the original premise for this book (which was slated to be a novella). Then stuff happened and it got to be a bigger book but the scenes just didn’t seem to fit. Then I figured it out Saturday night (yay for insomnia?) and got the scenes together and a big chapter done. Then the doubts. Now, after being awake at 3 a.m. again, I think I have it figured out. That chapter needs to be like 2-3 chapters earlier and those other chapters will need to be reworked to fit the new timeline and make sense. That’s on tap today. Anyway, sorry for the long story.

Okay. How can it already be 8:30. Oh, yeah. It’s actually 7:30 in brain time. Stupid DST. May this be the last time change! Have a great week, everyone.

I love the cake. How funny is this, DIL made Harrison a construction cake for his 3rd birthday in Oct. Hers was gritty chocolate frosting aka dirt, that the trucks pushed around. She used Sweet tart bricks. Looks real messy but he loved it. I’ll DM you a photo of the cake.

I’m glad you all were able to get together and have such a nice time celebrating Turbo’s birthday. I be the just love it too!

My middle came over Sat. to work on my computer but the part never arrived (it’s been at our Post Office since 3 PM Thursday  ). We went out for lunch and it was nice.

Yesterday hubs helped me find a slot to book my first Covid shot. It will be Wednesday afternoon but it 45 minutes away. Oh well.

Yes, I hate the time change.

Sure hope you are having a good day!

    B.E, It’s hard for us to believe he’s 3 too :-)

Seriously, 15 years???? I haven’t done the math, so I’m really shocked.

Thanks, and yeah, the books are intense, and maybe straddling genres which is an ongoing issue for me. Hope it holds your attention.

I’m so happy for you getting your book done! Congrats, that’s something to celebrate! Enjoy your free time.

Silver, I’d have to show you the other sides to see what I mean. But anyway, Turbo was thrilled, and that’s all I cared about. 3 is pretty easy to please.

What an awesome party for Stormy! I love how interactive it was, so all the kids could feel a part of it. The cupcakes sound perfect! Plus whipped cream generally tastes better than decorator buttercream :-)

I liked your long story because I can related to it! You made great progress so keep going!!! Except for the insomnia, let’s skip that part.

The time change didn’t used to bother me, but today I’m dragging.

    Hope your Monday rocks!

Viki, that is pretty funny that your daughter in law and I both made construction cakes. Harrison’s cake is really cute, and I totally see why he loved it.

Yep Turbo “dug” into the cake, it was pretty cute. I made the dirt piles with pulverized Oreos, which worked perfectly.

Dang, that’s just so frustrating that the part didn’t arrive for your computer. But I’m really glad you got to go to lunch with middle.

Yay for getting your first Covid shot lined up. I’m still not in the “right” category to get it here and just fuming. If you saw the list of categories…never mind. It’s not about me, the important thing is that you’re getting yours! Wizard gets his second one tomorrow and I’m very happy about that.

Hope your week is off to a great start!

It seems like I followed Karin Tabke from her blog over to Murder She Writes where I met you about 2006, so yeah, 15 years. Or thereabouts. =o)
