Friday Five

TGIF! Lets dive into sharing five random things about our week. Mine is pretty random :-)

  1. It’s hot! It’s going to cool down a but for the next few days.
  2. Wednesday, I picked up one of my daughter-in-laws, and we met Turbo and his mom at a small zoo. It was fun, but a lot of the zoo was still closed, which they didn’t mention on their website. However, Turbo was happy. Especially since his aunt bought him a popsicle and a toy. I mean…that’s a pretty awesome day for a three year old, right?
  3. When I dropped daughter-in-law off at home, I went inside for a few minutes to play with her dogs. Seriously–never mind that my son is working from home, I went in to see the dogs. Then I was half way out the door to leave when I hear a voice behind me, “Mom I came out of my office to hug you.” Um…oops :-) In my defense, I know how hard and long he’s working to finish up this marathon tax season, and I wasn’t going to bug him. I figured once tax season is over, then I’ll bug him tons. But still what kind of mom doesn’t even realize her son is standing there waiting to hug her goodbye????
  4. My shorter haircut is a mixed bag. I like it sometimes, other times it frustrates me because my hair is fine and–this is a quote from my hair dresser– “flippy”.  I think what she meant to say was it’s a fine, wavy undisciplined mess that thinks a style is just a suggestion and it can do whatever the hell it wants. All I know as the sleek cute style I came out of the salon with is a distant memory.
  5. I yelled at my yoga teacher last night. I mean, she tells me to get into this pose and my muscles are screaming. And then she’s all chipper like… “Now that you have your foundational pose, lets try to bend into a pretzel while keeping that strong foundational pose even though your legs are burning and shaking and your liver is twisting like a corkscrew and you’re about to black out. Okay, now breathe.” Breathe? BREATHE!!!! So I yelled at her. Then I army crawled down the stairs because my legs were sobbing noodles and ate an ice cream. FYI, my “yoga teacher” is a you tube video and I think she laughed at me. Sadly, I’ll do it again tomorrow night. Someday, I might even get out of the beginner classes :-)

That’s my five random things, now I’d love to hear yours! I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

I’d send our cold your way but it’s finally nice so I missed the chance. Mother Nature is still hiding the bottle. Just sayin’! Zoos and toys and popsicles, oh my! And you were there to play with the dogs. CPA boy should just deal. ;) Hairstyle? What is this mysterious thing of which you speak? And I’d totally yell at that yoga instructor too. And how rude that she laughed at you! Humphf! Okay, my five:

    1. Good writing week. I might be one the next to last chapter. 🤞

    2. Lost most of yesterday. Playing chauffeur for Only and Stormy. Baseball Boy was out of pocket so I drove all over the metroplex to pick them up at her mechanic’s, drop Stormy at school, drop her at work, then Wallyworld, then home. Then went to pick him up at school, back to our house so he could change out of his school uniform for Snapology (he made a light saber!), then LG got home from his VA appointment and we picked Stormy up and went to hand off the “hostage” to his folks at our fave Mexican restaurant. Then home. I was exhausted!

    3. Plant update from the Big Freeze. I have small clusters of honeysuckle flowers now blooming. Yay! I have two large buds on my peony, which usually only produces one. And my 60 year-old crepe myrtles are putting up new sprouts. I’d say the old wood is likely dead, but the roots survived so that’s a yay!

    4. Speaking of writing, I actually have a blurb for GHOSTS & THE ANCIENT STONES. As we all know, I HATEZ to write the blurb. And it’s usually the last thing I do. But I have a rough draft of one. I’ll wait until after my blurb expert beta reads the book and then send it for revisions. But hey! A BLURB is written!

    5. And…I always get to #5 and draw a blank. I should keep a desk calendar so I know what I’ve done. Oh! Speaking of Stormy. He was feeling under the weather Wednesday so he stayed with us. He finished reading his Magic Treehouse book to me–all about Leonardo Da Vinci and others of that era. Little dude knows some big words but Jammie had to help with the French and Italian words and names, like the Lourve. And Marcoantonio Somebody or others. LOL He zipped right through “archetecture,” “Sistine Chapel,” “mathematician.” Not bad for a 7 yo 1st grader. 🥰

So, that’s my week. Looking forward to some conference softball, major league baseball, and finishing the darn book. Have a great weekend, witches!

    1. Sorry it’s so hot. It will be nice if it does cool down. Maggie will be much happier.
    2. The small Zoo sounds like fun. Hubs went with Harrison and parents to the Zoo this past Tuesday. They had a great time. We have three Bengal tiger cubs (4 months old). Harrison loved them.
    3. Ha ha – It’s easy to see how you would kind of “forget” to say “hi” to son. I think we all have Covid brain.
    4. Totally get the hair issue. As it grows you’ll find a way that you like to style it.
    5. And so I don’t do yoga :-D .

1a. Don’t know what’s going on but my lower let side of my back and wrap around to left front are very unhappy and ache like crazy. No workout at all today.
2a. Still trying to figure out birthday dinner plans for hubs and youngest on Sunday. I think it will be early and at PF Chang’s. Harrison and parents will come over to our deck for 45 minutes in the early afternoon. Since youngest will not get vaccinated he is not allowed to touch Harrison and we ALL have to wear masks.
3a. We’ve been rather cool and it’s going to warm up the now. I like the cool.
4a. I didn’t buy the new computer yet. As soon as this one realized it was being put to pasture it decided to work like a charm. Broken car to mechanic syndrome.
5a. Bought some bluelight readers for when I’m on the computer. It took two weeks for them to get here and then they were labeled 1.50 but are only 1.25. I will just eat the cost :(. Bummed.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Silver, it was Youngest son who is also a tax accountant, but still…what did he expect? Dogs rule :-) I really didn’t know he was standing there, though.

    1) Sheesh you are amazing! Go, go, go!!!
    2) That was a marathon day! The light saber is cool, though. Grandkids are the best :-)
    3) I’m surprised any plants survived to bloom at all. You must have done something right to help them through that. Yay!
    4) I’m with you on writing blurbs. But congrats on having one! Even a rough draft is fabulous–you can fix anything that needs tweaking or tightening.
    5) Wow I’m impressed Stormy read that! It’s a sophisticated book for his age. He’s a smart boy and growing up so fast! Of course, it helps to have parents and grandparents who support and encourage his reading too.

You had a busy week and I hope you have a great weekend!

Viki I wish we had Bengal tiger cubs, but this is a really small kids zoo. also much as I want to see the cubs, I also don’t love big animals in captivity or babies separated from their moms. So I’m conflicted, LOL! I’m glad grandpa got to go, I hope you can do it sometime too.

Covid brain is a thing! Okay now for you:

    1) Sounds like the muscle group there, and ouch. I had that on my right side once and it lasted longer than I thought it should have. Not fun.
    2) PF Chang’s sounds fun. Happy Birthday to Hubs and your youngest son! Maybe with the CDC relaxing guidelines, Harrison’s parents will feel more comfortable soon. And it’s possible as time goes on, your youngest will re-evaluate as we get more vaccine data. In the meantime, we’re all making progress!
    3) I’m with you, I like the cool or at least moderate days.
    4) Of course the computer heard you and healed itself.
    5) That’s irritating, but at least it’s a small cost.

Hope you have a nice weekend, and hubs and youngest have a very Happy Birthdays!
