Weekend Roundup

Quiet weekend, which I’m good with. My favorite part was getting videos of my grandson, Turbo. He was playing with a friend, and they were so cute together. Both are 3. But at one point she hugged Turbo, who made some kind of mild protest I didn’t really catch on the video.

The sweet little girl said, “Sorry.”

Turbo respond, “It was so much hugs.”

I cracked up. Then later, Turbo hugged her. 3 year olds are adorable sometimes.

Otherwise, my weekend was the usual stuff; cleaning, errands, cooking, walking with Maggie, and writing. The book is developing, but wow, I was pulling some quotes to send to Carla (my assistant) and talk about messy. The pages are just brimming with typos, missing words and general nonsense that even I can’t make heads or tails of. I convinced the Wing Slayer Hunters are putting in that gibberish in there just to screw with me.

Seriously. They’re devious like that.

But that’s okay, my general rule is:

The first draft is a disgusting mess with glimmers of hope that a story is possible.

The second draft shows signs of story structure, character development and a plot arc.

The third draft is a freaking miracle that might be publishable :-)

So that was my weekend, how was yours?

Wonderful…our granddaughter came to visit (adult). Hadn’t seen her in the house for a year

OMG, Turbo is too cute! And yep yep yep about the drafts. Except we’re all probably too hard on ourselves about the third draft. We need to lighten up. A bit. Maybe. ;o)

It was a quiet weekend here, too. Well, except for the shopping… and even the actual shopping wasn’t bad. It was the people on the roads between here and there. You’d think everyone had lost their freakin’ minds and the ability to drive right along with it. I was lucky to make it home in one piece, lemme tell ya. On the upside, my garden is growing well and the critters are doing critter things. It’s all good.

Turbo is all that is cute! SO MUCH HUGS! I want a meme with that on it. 🥰

Writing? What is this mythical beast of which you speak? I gotta get back on one project or another this week. Sadly, none of them are calling my name. GHOSTS wrung me out to dry. I keep hydrating but nothing is gelling yet.

Mostly lazed this weekend. LG and I went to look at fans yesterday. Found one we liked within the budget but we weren’t sure it would fit so we came home to measure. We’ll go back eventually to get it. The one in our kitchen nook is at least 20 years old and the light kit decided to malfunction. The fan works so it’s okay for now.

Didn’t do much else. Sometimes, those are to the good times. LOL

    Here’s to a productive week!

How cute! Turbo is so sweet.

I can’t even imagine the work you go through in writing. I praise all authors for the dedication you all have!

Our weekend was okay. I didn’t get any windows cleaned because it decided to sprinkle Sunday. The humidity has lifted but I REALLY hurt my right shoulder today. I was fine on the ellipse but as soon as I got off it was an OMG moment. I have no idea what I did since it was fine while working out. Getting old!

Hubs and Harrison’s family went to see the animatronic dinosaurs yesterday and they had a blast. Today hubs started watching Harrison again and Harrison is SO happy.

I saw the heat wave headed your so I hope you are staying cool.

    Have a great afternoon!

B.E., you may be right about lightening up on final draft. I’m trying to crack down on this first draft–writing whatever it takes to get the story down.

Sorry about the bad drivers! It’s a sad reality. We deal with it here too. Frustrating.

But yay for your container garden and cute critters!! I believe I saw deer pics on your FB when I was scrolling on my phone.

Silver, I want that meme too!

Does it help if I remind you that you worked really hard on the last book and need some creative recovery time? Which is obviously what your wrung out metaphor meant :-) Let yourself decompress for a bit!

At least you’ve started looking, and going home to measure before buying is smart. You’ll get it when you’re ready, then comes the fun part of installing it.

I agree, a weekend with not much to report can be very good.

Viki, I’m glad you didn’t wash the windows right before it sprinkled–that would have been super aggravating.

I’m sorry about your shoulder. I can relate to not being able to figure out what set off an ache or pain. Really hope your shoulder feels better soon.

How cool they al got to see the animatronic dinosaurs! And that Harrison has his Grandpa all to himself on babysitting days :-)

    Take care of that shoulder!
