Friday Five

TGIF! Well this week totally got away from me. I don’t know how I leapfrogged from Monday to Friday :-) Okay. let’s jump into sharing five random things about our week.

  1. A little while ago, Wizard got some mosquito bites and I teased him about being a baby. I had two and they were annoying, but not whine-worthy. You all know where this is going right? I must have stepped in a nest of the blood sucking vipers. I’ve have ugly welts, and a few are on my heel so wearing shoes to walk Maggie is agony. One turned into what looks like a blood blister from walking her. It’s insane, and keeping me awake. Honestly, Wizard’s not fairing much better. I’m guessing it’s the unusual humidity we had this year? I dunno, but they’ve turned me into a whiner! I’m really sorry for teasing Wizard now. Really. Really. Sorry.
  2. Maggie is once again all legal! I got her dog license done for three more years. Oddly, Maggie didn’t seem particularly excited about it.
  3. I went to Walmart just to three ring binder. They didn’t have the three ring binder and yet, I came home $52.00 dollars poorer. HOW????
  4. This week vanished into thin air, but today I’m going to try to write. I have taken a giant step back to give my creative side some space to, well, get creative and excited.
  5. Tomorrow Wizard and I are going to a memorial service for a friend of his. Sunday I’m seeing Biker Witch. No cakes this weekend unless plans change.

So that’s my five, now I’d love to hear yours. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Bitey things of all kinds are being total turds this year. Aloe helps. Benedryl gel helps sometimes. After Bite works good for mosquitoes. Calaclear works sometimes, too. (Can ya tell we have lots of bitey things here?) Yay for Maggie! Boo for no binders and spending money. Wallyworld is a cash-drain on the best of days. This week was a timesucking black hole, but I hope it gives you time to get your creativity back on track. Sorry about Wizard’s friend. :hugs: Have fun with BW!

    1) We’re making progress packing up my friend’s house and getting it ready for its new owners. But that’s really taking up most of my brain space lately. Hence, the black hole of a week.
    2) She took me to lunch yesterday. Pizza. Then we circled back there after errands for hot sandwiches to take home, so no cooking dinner. Yay.
    3) I got the urge to trim my hair and it ended up as a full-on cut. Short. It’ll grow back. And it’s good for all this heat we’re having. There are no pictures and there will be no pictures.
    4) My friend showed me a ‘shortcut’ to town. It’s scary as hell, with loads of curves and hills, and tons of trees so you can’t see. She was telling me about all the accidents that occur on this stretch of road. I’ll stick to the long way, tyvm. I don’t feel the urgent need to risk death in order to shave 5 minutes off a 30 minute trip.
    5) I was just telling Hubs about the ‘shortcut’ and he’d gone down it years ago with another friend. Must be a local thing. He agrees that it’s not worth it.

What B.E. said! And how can it be Friday?!?! Okay. I’m digging deep for 5 things.

    1. Monday was a butt-crack of dawn day to be at VA by 6:15. LG wasn’t in the computer. Again. Though they DID have his paperwork. Go figure. Instead of being one of the first, he didn’t get in until about 9:45. LG is feeling much better, FYI, though he has jury duty starting Monday.

    2. Jake was awesome, as always, at VA. He hates elevators but he did good and he’s conquered the automatic revolving door.

    3. I managed a little writing but mostly I vegged. Disrupted sleep patterns and stress doesn’t foster creativity much. I did start a scene yesterday that I’ll expand on today that may spur me on. We’ll see.

    4. Still hiding from the news and most social media. What happened yesterday has me wavering between tears, rage, and disgust.

    5. Friday. It’s trash day. Yup. I need to get off my arse, fix another cup of coffee, get LG moving (he wanted up “early” to he can be “productive” today), and get the trash can to the curb before I forget it’s Friday. Again. ;)

Here’s to a happy weekend for us all! 🥰

    1. Oh no! Your poor foot. I bet Wizard is being quite nice to you knowing that you are suffering. He’s a good guy.
    2. I’m not surprised Maggie doesn’t care about a new tag since it was painful to get ;). But she must be happy to know that she is protected against rabies.
    3. It’s back to school time, you would think stores would be stocked with binders. Spending on things I had no intention of buying happens to me whenever I enter ALDI or the local discount store.
    4. Time does seem to fly by. The step back may just be the thing :).
    5. Sorry that you have a trying day ahead of you. Have a nice time Sunday with Biker Witch. I just don’t see a weekend without a cake or some baked good ;).

1a. Well she still hasn’t said it by my step father texted me very early this morning to let me know that my mom does have colon cancer. Surgery is to be scheduled and after the surgery they will come up with the next plan of attack.
2a. Spunk is still off. I feel bad for the poor guy. I kind of think the hot weather has a little to do with it but just a little.
3a. I bought a new telescopic window squeegee today :). Tried yesterday. Went to the store (on line said they had 6) and they had none. But they had it today.
    4a. Having insurance issues again.
5a. Sister in law just called. Step father JUST had a heart attack.

    Bye!

B.E., I got some Benadryl gel last night and that helped a bit, thanks! It’s improved a lot today, thought my legs look a mess :-)

    1) Yay for progress, but that kind of stuff is draining.
    2) No cooking is a win.
    3) Short hair is a nice change. But yep, it grows if you really don’t like it.
    4) We have one of those roads over a mountain to the beach cities. I go around, so I’m with you.
    5) Agreed! In our town, we actually have “We Survived the ** Mountain” bumper stickers :-)

    Have a good weekend!

Silver, I dunno, Friday shows up faster every week :-)

    1) Glad it’s done and he’s feeling better. But UGH on that wait! Having his paperwork was good, but still, waiting sucks.
    2) Jake is awesome!
    3) It seems like stress is on steroids lately. I’m sorry it’s all messing with your sleep and creativity.
    4) Yep.
    5) Hope you got it all done!

Hope LG keeps feeling better and better!

Viki, I’m so sorry! Ok, let’s go one by one:

    1) I’m sorry your mom has cancer. It did sound like it, but I was hoping for another outcome. But now that she knows what’s wrong, hopefully the treatments will work. Hang in there.
    2) Poor Spunk, it’s been going on a while now, hasn’t it?
    3) Congrats on your new squeegee :-) Last time I wanted one, I gave up searching and ordered it form Amazon.
    4) Ugh on insurance issues.
    5) Unbelievable! Your poor stepdad, I’m sure he’s been under a lot of stress, but the normal toll life takes on our bodies. And your mom. Neither of them needs this right now. I hope he’s okay. I’ll pray for him and all your family. I’m so sorry you all are going through this.

I’ll be thinking of you this weekend.

Thanks Jenn. It seems he has had a massive heart attack and they found a blood clot in the large chamber of his heart. They were able to move the clot to the aorta. Last night he had surgery to try and remove the clot. I don’t know if they got it or not. The surgeon said the surgery is hard on a 40 yr old man let alone a 96 yr old man. But this morning the ICU nurse said he was doing well. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts.
    Have a nice weekend.

Viki, thank you for the update. I’m hoping they got the clot, and he’ll be able to recover. His age is a factor, but medicine is pretty miraculous at times. Hope you’re doing okay, it’s a lot for you to have to deal with. Hugs.

Got word a while ago that this is it :( . He had a very bad night and his body is shutting down. I just hope his daughter makes it in time. She’s been trying to get there from AZ since Friday night but there have been plane issues. Thank you again for your kind thoughts.
