Weekend Roundup

The weekend was a blur. Saturday we went to the memorial service for Wizard’s friend, which was a lovely tribute to man loved by his family and friends. It was both sad and uplifting.

We came home to discover a fire in at the base of the Cleveland National Forest (the same forest that’s a block away from us) about 10 miles away, but it looks like we’ll be ok. However that fire burned hot and fast, and I’m not even sure if any homes were lost or not. News like the hurricane pounding Louisiana is happening so fast and I’m running around so much, I can’t quite catch my breath. I’ll catch up today.

Sunday, I met Biker Witch for lunch at the mall, then we shopped. I tried on a ridiculous amount of clothes, and only bought one nice shirt and one everyday shirt. But it’s a start. What happened is that on Saturday, I couldn’t wear a dress like I normally would because my legs are really a mess from the endless mosquito bites. I don’t have much in the way of nice pants or even shoes–these days, I pretty much have jeans, shorts, t-shirts, running shoes and flip flops. I really need to up my game so I’m working on getting few dressier outfits, a new dress or two because mine are really old, and a couple pairs of shoes. It might be a dream, but a girl can try :-)

So that was my weekend, how was yours?

Wait. It’s Monday? Already? LOL I guess that means there was a weekend afterall. ;)

Once again, condolences on Wiz’s friend. That fire is TOO close! Argh!!! And yay for lunch with BW. Sorry your shopping was less spree and more…money saving. ;) The idea of going to a store and trying on clothes makes me want to hide in the closet. With the lights out. I have a couple of “fashion basics” that get me through the very seldom dressy stuff. Otherwise, I’m in cotton sleep pants and a tank or jeans and a T-shirt, with flip-flops, running shoes, or boots.

    As for my weekend…

Saturday, I went to see the vampires and gave up a pint of my caffeinated blood to the cause. There’s still a nationwide blood shortage and the fires and hurricane are exacerbating the situation. Besides, When I go at the beginning of my eligibility period, they stop calling me. ;)

Stormy and Only are thinking that he might want to play catcher on his baseball team this fall so Only and Lawyer Guy are all about looking for and researching youth baseball catcher’s mitts and gear. I just shake me head and back away from that conversation.

Sunday, I didn’t do a darn thing. I didn’t write. I watched my Cardinals lose (again) in the bottom of the 9th inning after taking a lead into the 9th. I listened to the current Kate Daniels book, ie. the one queued up on my Audible app.

I’m hoping this week will be more productive.

Oh no! I pray that the fire stays away from you and gets contained soon. They mentioned it on the very early news this morning and it looks scary. Keeping you all in my prayers.

I’m sorry about Wizard’s friend. It is so nice to know how much he was loved and that the service reflected those feelings.

Sounds like you and Biker Witch had fun even though you only bought two shirts. I understand the wardrobe issue. Mine is very similar ;). The other day I realized I hadn’t bought any clothes since Dec. 2019.

Your poor legs! Those bites must be awful. Try witch hazel on them. It may help with the itch and will help with healing.

As you know, the weekend and even now are not good. My step dad was still hanging on a few hours ago but will be gone soon. He was one of the really good ones. He lied about his age to fight WWII at 17. Survived D-day and went on to the Battle of the Bulge. Had three kids and two step kids. Worked hard in the church and was just generous and kind to every person he met. I know his soul is going to a good place.

    Have a nice afternoon.

Silver, I don’t know how it’s Monday, and now that’s mostly gone… The fire isn’t moving toward us, so that’s good. But it’s an ugly fire and weather season all around.

Thanks on the condolences. The service was nice, and Wziard got to see a few other old friends so there’s always an upside.

Shopping–ugh. I spent house again today, and nothing that I need.

It’s awesome that you give blood! I can’t, and I know we need it.

LG and Only are in the zone, you’re wise to back away, LOL! It’d be awesome for Stormy though! He’ll have so much fun.

I hope you were productive today (although doing nothing is good too). My day was spent running around again.

    Happy Monday!

Viki, the first few hours that fire moved superfast. But the fire crews out here and very experienced and aggressive.

Thanks on Wizard’s friend. It was nice for him to see his other old friends there.

The clothes thing is depressing for me, but clothes probably fit you better :-)

The bites are annoying. Wizard’s after me to call the doctor, but I think it’s silly. Everyone’s getting mosquito bites, I just am reacting more harshly, probably cause my immune system is repressed.

It’s so sad that all of you are losing such a good man, but his life here has been invaluable and he will leave a legacy. I hope your mom is doing okay. This must be so heart-wrenching for all of you. I’ll keep you all in my thoughts as you go through this difficult time.

Sorry I missed this yesterday. It’s been a busy time around here. We spent the weekend painting and yesterday I was a toad. Now I’m just killing time until I have to be back at packing and sorting. (Helping a friend get ready to move.)

Sorry for your friend’s death. :hugs: Ack about the wildfire. Yay for shopping with your sister! Have a great day and if I disappear again, it’s because of the aforementioned busyness. No worries.
