Weekend Roundup

My blog didn’t post as scheduled :-( So I’m adding in here the little tidbit that Wizard came home from racing right after I wrote this, and he’d been sideswiped on the freeway. Wizard’s fine, but our Ford Edge is banged up. When I saw it, it gave me a chill. I could see where the guy turned into him, slid down the length then hit the edge of our bumper and pried it off a little. I am so grateful that didn’t cause Wizard to swerve into other traffic–remember this is the freeway where cars are going 70 miles an hour. It would have been bad, so while this is irritating, the important thing is Wizard (and others who could have been hurt) is fine. It also looks like the guy who hit him doesn’t have insurance as far as we can tell, but that’s why we have uninsured motorist.

Okay, if you’re still with me, here’s the blog I originally wrote:

So I might have a problem…

I made a fondant elephant. He turned out cute. Then I tried Eeyore…umm…I liked the ears, LOL. He’s a sad-looking Eeyore, but there are a few things I did well so I’ll call it a positive learning experience.

After that I remembered the leftover cakes in my freezer. And then I decided it’d be fun to just see what I might come up with using only what I had in the house. This is what I ended up with:

Even with all it’s flaws, I love this cake because it’s the first one I created with just a theme and using what I had on hand. So I molded some white chocolate, then made a few fondant cutouts, painted them, then did the cake from my head, not an image I’d seen. It was a lot of fun. The only think I forgot was to add some of the blue icing into my white so it would have blended more into an ombre. Otherwise, it’s what I was going for, just a fun, sea-themed cake.

In other news, my dress didn’t fit. I refused to waste time being sad, and ordered a different one.  I’ll return the ill-fitting dress this week.

This will sound silly, but in all my writing frustration, I stopped reading (although I continued to listen to audiobooks). By this weekend, I missed reading romance. I pulled up Silver Silence by Nalini Singh, started reading and enjoyed it. In fact, when I’m finished writing this blog, I’m going to read some more. I’d have sworn I read all her early Psy-Changeling books, but this one’s not ringing a bell, at least not yet. Anyway, this is baby steps, but I’m trying to recapture my commitment and passion for writing.

So that was my weekend, how was yours?

SILVER SILENCE!!!!! RUSSIAN BEARS!!!!!!!!!!! 💓💓💓💓💓 That is one of my all-time favorites of hers. I’m glad you’ve rediscovered the love of reading.

Okay. Now to the important stuff, not that hilarious Russian bears aren’t important, but Wiz! OMG!!!! He’s sooo lucky! Cars can be fixed. No insurance on the offending party is a pain but yeah, that’s what uninsured motorist is for. I take it the guy at least stopped and exchanged info and/or the cops investigated…

CAKES!!!! I love that one! So pretty and yay for getting it really cool “from scratch!” Eeyore is supposed to look sad and elephants ARE cute so it seems like you are batting .1000 to me.

Boo on the dress but you have time to find one. And yeah, you’ll find your passion again. Been there.

We had a quiet weekend. I got a nap in. No words. Got some office planning nailed down. I know where everything will go with the rearrangment. Now I just have to clear, sort, and stash clutter so stuff can start to move around. Jake got a bath Sunday. He’s all fluffy and soft now. Other than that, I pretty much vegged watching college football, Cards baseball and listening to the latest JD Robb book.

    Happy Monday!

Oh man! Poor Wizard. That is just awful getting sideswiped. You are so right in being thankful that no one was really hurt (except your poor car). Doesn’t it just figure that the guy has no insurance. Thank heaven you guys think ahead and have full coverage.

I really like your cake! It makes me smile when I look at it. Free and happy :) .

Thank you for posting Eeyore on FB. Again, I think he is really cute. My guess is he got into the cake and didn’t share  .

Sorry the dress didn’t fit. Smart not dwelling on it and ordering another right away.

Glad you found a book to read/listen to that you are enjoying. I just wish I could stay awake for more than a couple pages of reading at night.

The weekend flew by. I got my hair done. The meds had taken hold and DIL was doing pretty good.

My mom has surgery on Thursday. It’s in Niagara Falls NY and we are not going to be there. They really don’t want out of state people around. Makes sense to me that you wouldn’t want to possibly give any bug to people in the hospital. So, we will be sending up prayers like crazy.

I hope you have a great afternoon!

Silver, thanks, I’m so grateful that accident wasn’t worse and Wizard is okay. The car stuff we’ll deal with.

Thanks on the cake. I had a lot of fun playing with that one.

Yay for a relaxing weekend! I hope we get pictures when you’re office is all done the way you want it. Oh, and I’m listening to JD Robb’s latest :-)

Hope Monday is treating you right!

Viki, yep, twice now we’ve been sideswiped by someone without insurance. What are the odds? But again, I’m just grateful it didn’t turn into a more serious accident.

thanks on Eeyore, I was off from the start on the body, and that threw everyone off kilter. Still, I had fun and am learning.

The cake was just a joy. It took a lot of time to hand paint the chocolates and fondant, but it was fun so no big deal.

Glad DIL is better and that you got your hair done.

I’ll be adding my prays for your mom on Thursday. It’s probably wise (but hard!) to stay away right now. Maybe you can see her when she’s home. Is she going to have help for a few days or weeks? I really hope you’re doing okay with all this worry, grief over your stepdad and stress.

Hope you have a nice evening.

I’m so glad Wizard wasn’t hurt. :hugs: Accidents are scary shit, man. Yay for your pretty cake! Boo for your ill-fitting dress. Yay for reading again! And you’ll get your mojo back. It just takes some downtime. (At least that’s what I’m telling myself.)

My weekend was such a blur that it slopped over into yesterday and I didn’t fully comprehend that it was, in fact, Monday. Derp.

B.E., thanks on all. Wizard not being hurt makes everything else bearable.

I hope you right about Mojo :-)

Weekends can be like that. Hope you’re brain has caught up tot the day of the week, LOL! Some weeks, mine never does!
