Weekend Roundup

Wow, this weekend got away from me, LOL. First, though, Maggie seems to be feeling better after her abscess. I’ll know more after I take her to her followup vet appointment late Tuesday afternoon. For now, we’ve released her from the cone of shame.

Okay. so Saturday I meant to write, but then, I wanted to make sugar cookies for Turbo too. He’s really into police cars, and of course, I didn’t have a police car cookie cutter. So I thought I’d handcraft one of out of fondant. Trying to make a miniature police car in 2D to go on top of a cookie is a little crazy, especially since drawing anything isn’t my forte, LOL. It came out like this:

And this is Turbo’s face when I gave it to him:

The rest of the cookies, I made with a marbled icing and topped with sprinkles. It ended up being a day long project. But I had a lot of fun, and since my “audience” is three years old, he thinks I did an amazing job :-)

Note to self: Buy a police car cookie cutter ASAP!

Sunday we went out to see Turbo and that sucked up most of our day. But it’s all worth it when he comes running to the door to greet us, and is sad when we leave.

So that was my weekend, how was yours?

Turbo looks thrilled with his cookie and that’s all that matters. Personally, I think it’s an awesome first try at freehanding a police car, especially since you’re not big on drawing. That stuff takes time and practice and continual use of the skill to make it turn out amazing. You’ll get there. Hell, I don’t even try to make any of my baked goods pretty anymore. I only care if they’re tasty. I think my decorating skills peaked at Owl’s 1st b-day cake when I made a rainbow out of butter cream frosting. She wasn’t even old enough to appreciate it. LOL

My weekend was helping my friend with her impending move Saturday and since I took yesterday off, I went grocery shopping followed by general laziness. Bought a pre-made pizza and threw it in the oven for dinner. I did make pork burgers on Saturday. Those turned out pretty yummy, but super easy is about as much as I can accomplish right now.

Awesome cookies and the look on Turbo’s face is totally worth all the time! Yay for Maggie feeling better too!

We had Stormy Thursday night and Friday and then Baseball Boy picked him up late Friday night after the high school football game. BB runs the sideline “chain gang” for his high school. It was fun. We discovered his leg guards are too short so we ordered a new set that should arrive in time for his next game. We were hoping on old set of his mom’s would fit but alas, nope.

Saturday was college football and a long nap. OSU and OU both won, though the games were nailbiters. Saturday and Sunday was also baseball. Go Cards!

I don’t think I did anything else. I didn’t write though I sat down to do so and then decided a nap sounded better. No cleaning or sorting. Wrists and hands feel better this morning for staying away from the computer so there’s that.

Still not ready to face the week, though. That said, here’s to a productive one for all of us! 🥰

I am happy to hear that Maggie is recovering and that the cone has been removed. Poor baby really hates that thing!

Love the photo of Turbo! He loves Grandma’s baking :-P . The cookies all look good. Have you had any success in finding a police car cookie cutter? Here’s one I like with first responders https://www.amazon.com/EMERGENCY-RESPONDERS-HELICOPTER-GRADUATION-RETIREMENT/dp/B07YCTJSN5/ref=sr_1_21?dchild=1&keywords=police+cookie+cutter&qid=1632167132&sr=8-21

I spent the weekend on the phone. Either texting with my brother or trying to get my mom the talk to me. She came out of surgery okay but hated the hospital phone and wouldn’t turn on her cell. My poor brother had to deal with everything at the hospital. I don’t know if I mentioned before that my mom is, to say it nicely, “trying”. My brother had the referee between her and the nurses.
She was released yesterday and went home alone. I spoke to her briefly last night. She was tired and didn’t want to be on the phone. I talked to her for a few minutes today and she was in pain and wanting to rest. She really should have gone to rehab and recovered a bit before going home where all the mess is of stuff that needs to be dealt with over Bob’s death. It has to be SO overwhelming.
Middle is still planning on the two of us going up there this coming weekend if she’ll allow it. I told him to be prepared for a no.

It’s going to cool down here so I’m planning all the stuff I’m going to bake  .

I hope you are having a nice afternoon. Take care.

B.E., thanks :-) It’s fun when it’s for kids. They aren’t hard to please.

You did so much this week helping your friend, you earned a day off and a dinner of premade pizza! I know your friend must really appreciate all your assistance and labor.

Hope you have an easier week!

    Silver, if Turbo’s happy, I’m happy :-)

So the leg guards were too short for Stormy or BB? Sorry, I’m confusing myself, I think.

Football and Baseball kept your weekend packed!

Glad your wrists and hands feel better, and best to take off the time to let them recover. The writing will wait.

Hope your week is off to a good start.

Viki, thanks on Maggie and for the suggestion of cookie cutters. I haven’t ordered any yet, I’m waiting until I order other stuff :-)

That had to be a frustrating weekend. Do you think your mom realizes how hard it is on your guys when she won’t take the help she needs? I’ve learned to listen to my kids more…it’s a process. Btu gosh, it all has to be so awful for her, and I’m sorry you’re all going through so much at once.

Planning baked goods sounds like a good way to get a little joy in your life right now :-)
