Weekend Roundup

Fast but good weekend. Saturday I ended up spending all day making a cake for Special K’s birthday. It’s a simple drip cake, but I complicated it by deciding to make homemade lemon curd (filling), the most involved icing–Italian Meringue Buttercream, and I wanted to try lemon-white chocolate ganache for the drip.  Anyway, here’s the finished product:

I didn’t do a carved cake because I didn’t think Special K would want fondant :-)

Sunday, Wizard and I went to breakfast then spent the rest of the day with Oldest, Special K and Turbo, and Youngest son came by to play with Turbo for a while.  We had ribs and chicken for dinner. And speaking of Turbo, I knew he wouldn’t care for the lemon cake, he’s a chocolate lover like his grandma. But I have bunch of various sprinkles, so I gave him some ice cream and let him pick any sprinkles he wanted for his topping. He loved it!

Oh and Grandpa watched Turbo while the Youngest took me, Oldest son and Special K on a Jeep ride. When we got back–you had to see it, Wizard and Turbo are both sitting still and innocent on the couch. Like I mean they were doing nothing. Turbo doesn’t do nothing. That kid has the energy of a tornado. Special K walked in, looked at both their faces, and her mom-radar kicked in. “Okay, Turbo, what did grandpa give you?”

“A cookie,” he promptly answered.

Evidently, Grandpa and Turbo had Oreos while we were gone. We all laughed. For the record, Grandpa gave him one cookie, and that’s perfectly fine.  But they really need to work on their innocent act, LOL!

This week is packed with various appointments like Maggie’s vet, hair appointment, the dentist, my mammogram and other stuff. It just all landed on the same week but that’s how life goes sometimes.

So that was my weekend, how was yours?

Wizard and Turbo… ROFL… I can imagine Wizard telling Turbo to sit like that when you guys arrived, just for the gag. Too funny. Turbo is a wizard in training. LOL

What a beautiful cake! And I bet it tasted awesome. Fingers crossed all your appointments go well this week. :hugs:

We spent the weekend cutting wood for our future woodstove. It’s exercise and it’s productive, so it’s all good. I made a pizza, too. Which is always good. I still haven’t started inputting my edit notes. Maybe today.

That cake is awesome and beautiful, just like Special K! Mom-dar is always right on target. Yay for Jeep rides, ribs, chicken, and family time! 💖

Weekend. There was one. I watched some college football. My OSU Pokes beat Texas. There was play-off baseball. Books to listen to. And a couple of very long naps I hadn’t planned. Ah well. I guess we all need a weekend of slothfulness once in awhile. I REALLY need to get my arse in gear this week. Right after I make a Wallyworld run today.

Here’s to a productive week for us! 🤞 on all the appointments. Maybe it’s a good thing to have them all lumped together. Get ’em all done and over in one fell swoop! ;)

How cute that the two of them were sitting there waiting all innocent :). Can’t blame them for going after the OREO. I would have too. I love them!

Your lemon cake looks fabulous! I bet it tasted great too.

It’s funny how we have weeks like the one you’re about to have and then other weeks there is nothing happening. Go figure.

I got my hair done Saturday. It looks and feels good.

I’m taking my car in on Wednesday for it’s two year birthday check up. My spare key fob isn’t working. It’s probably the battery so I’ll have them take care of that while I’m there. There is also a recall on the software controlling by computer driven brakes. They’ll handle that too.

I want to do some baking this upcoming weekend. I think I’ll either make apple spice cookies or banana bread.

I got eldest and Harrison’s Christmas shopping done. Harrison’s mom is easy. She just wants GC for either Target or Disney (she wants to take Harrison when he’s 5).

I hope you are having a nice day!

B.E., I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what Wizard did. He and Turbo are buddies :-)

Thanks on the cake. I expect the appointments to all be fine, just a lot of running around to get it done.

A wood stove sounds cool! But chopping wood is hard work. Sound like you guys had a productive weekend. And hopefully you found sometime today to start inputting your edit notes. Usually on that–getting started is the hardest part.

    Happy Monday!

    Silver, it’s true about Mom-dar!

It’s not a slothfull weekend when you’re getting much needed downtime and rests.

Ugh on Walmart. Since ours moved closer I go there more often and it’s an ordeal. Always busy.

Hope you were able to get some work done. Also, it’s true getting all the appts done in one week is good. We all have stuff to do, right?

Hope your week is off to a good start.

Viki, so many people love Oreos. I can take or leave them, but I’m the only one I know like that.

Yay on your hair! So this time the color came out the way you like and the cut too? It’s awesome when it all works.

You’re so amazing to do the Christmas shopping. I have even thought of it yet. With the supply chain issues, I’m going to regret that while you’ll be ahead of the game!

Either banana bread or apple spice cookies sounds good.

    Happy Monday!
