Weekend Roundup

Whew, that was a marathon week and weekend. Today is going to be busy too. But the weekend was good. Saturday I baked (surprise, LOL). Sunday we had the family Christmas Party. Awesome food and priceless family time.

I won’t put pictures of all my baking because no one has time to look at all that :-) I’ll just show you the cupcakes:

This is the chocolate cupcakes and mint frosting (green frosting) and the white chocolate raspberry cupcakes with cream cheese frosting (the white frosting):

And these ones aren’t as pretty, but they are tasty non-dairy chocolate chip cookie cupcakes with cookie dough icing. Youngest son was thrilled. These are for the cookie + dough lovers :-)

Watching Turbo with his dad, grandpa and two uncles setting off pop rockets (Nerf ones that are totally safe for little kids) made me laugh watching. My grown up executive-type sons turned into little boys right along side Turbo. Kids can really help us shed the skin of adulthood to feel that unfiltered joy.

Oh when Wizard and I were putting wrapping Turbo’s big gift, Maggie realized it was for Turbo, ran to the front window, stood on her hind legs and looked for him. Most of the time, Maggie is just Maggie, but every now and again she amazes us as she makes these logical leaps. If Wizard and I are getting toys out for Turbo then he must be coming over. Of course, then we feel bad for her because she looks sad when we tell her he’s not coming over. And then Wizard and I realized we’ve lost our minds like every other dog (or cat!) owner :-)

So that was our weekend, how was yours?

Cupcakes! Yay!! I’m so glad you had a nice Christmas gathering with the family and fun with Turbo. That’s such a great age. Aww, poor Maggie. With smartness sometimes comes disappointment. I bet she was super happy when Turbo finally arrived, though.

The weekend here was more of the usual. I did make those mint patty cookies, which were awesome. And I bought a bunch of Christmas goodies, which are also awesome. I’m dreading stepping on a scale after Saturday, but hey, I’ll worry about that next week. My Christmas prezzies to myself arrived – paperback copies of Silence of the Lambs (which I’m reading now) and The Big Sleep, and a big wall calendar I can actually read from my desk chair. Yay. I also got some more work done on the front garden project. We should be able to finish that up this week. Yay.

Cupcakes FTW! Big boys and little boys, also FTW! 🥰 Awww, Maggie. So sweet. So glad y’all had such a wonderful weekend.

Mine was mostly…not much. LOLOL It was cold outside. I’m behind on the Christmas story but I’m determined to have it ready to go by Wednesday’s blog. I did make serious inroads yesterday.

LG has done the bulk of the Christmas shopping. I made my list and checked on-line so I’m off here in a few minutes to tackle my last bit of Christmas prep. Hopefully with one stop at Wallyworld. And then back to work on the story.

And that’s basically it. Oh! I do have a funny Stormy story. I’m not an eyewitness but Only called to gritch about it. They made the “mistake” of getting “smart” lights for their new Christmas tree. They have Alexa and some Echoes around the house. Stormy will randomly run into the living room, yell, “Echo! Turn on the Christmas lights!” The tree lights up, he cackles maniacally, and dashes off. He also asked the firefighter Santa for an “oscillating tower heater.” Santa was confused. Only did a 🤦🏼‍♀️ and explained, “Stomry, your room isn’t that cold and you kick off all your blankets because you’ve sweated through your PJs.” FYI, he told LG he wanted the same thing. And he’s very specific. It has to be OSCILLATING, and a TOWER! And no, he is NOT getting one. At least not from us. LOLOL

Have an awesome week, all! 🎄

All of those cupcakes look so good. Nice of you to make a variety too. Which was Turbo’s favorite? I’m going to guess the chocolate mint.

I love those nerf rockets when the kids are small. It makes the transition to building and launching the engine driven rockets easy. I laughed picturing your boys reverting to youngsters while playing with Turbo. It’s even more fun watching the grandpa’s :).
Maggie is very smart and I think our pets understand when we talk to them. So you two have not lost your minds.

Cassie did my hair Saturday and it looks good. Our dinner with youngest and his girlfriend was very nice.

I spent today trying to buy all the food stuffs I need for “Christmas” Sunday brunch. Of course the stores are sold out of so much or they never got stuff in. Just crazy. But we will make do.

    Have a wonderful afternoon!

B.E., your absolutely right, Turbo’s at such a fun age :-) And thanks, it was a nice family day.

    I

I bet the cookies were delicious!

I love your presents to yourself! The wall calendar made me laugh. I’d do better if I put ours up, but we keep it in the “phone” drawer. A habit from way back in the dinosaur days. And who doesn’t love books?? Books are an awesome gift!

Hope Monday is treating you right!

Silver, well cupcakes are easy, and a definite win because I had two dozen of the white chocolate raspberry ones, so I can take the second batch to my sister’s on Christmas Eve.

I believe you will pull off a Christmas Miracle and have the story ready for you blog! Just hope you don’t work yourself too hard because I care.

LOL on Stormy! I mean…all my kids would have done that too :-) It’s funny! He’s been fixated on that oscillating tower heater. I wonder why? But I can sure understand Santa’s confusion! Grandkids sure do keep life interesting!

Hope you got more than you hoped done and your week is off to an great start!

Viki, you’re correct! I knew he’d go for the chocolate mint. It was a lot, but I froze some for a second party this weekend, so it works out. Plus crazy-baking this last week as soothed me as I mentally worked through some stuff.

I love the nerf rockets too. Perfect for the age where he’s figuring out how things work and needs to be physically as well as mentally engaged. Plus his uncle got it for him :-)

We are never sure if Maggie understands our words or she’s reading our actions. But animals are amazing.

Yay for your hair! I’m always so ready to have my hair freshened up when I do, and I’m guessing you feel the same. Plus you get to spend time with your daughter in law.

I’m sorry for you frustrations in food shopping. I’ve been pretty lucky overall here, but had to do a few changes or pay premium prices to special order something I needed. But overall, like you, I can and do improvise and I’m glad we learned how to do that. So many today really don’t.

Hope your week is off to a good start!
