The Week is Getting Better :-)

This week is getting so much better for me. Before I go on, thank you all for the kind sympathy on my granddog. We will miss, and always treasure the memories. I’m posting this one picture of Roxy not from sadness, but with a smile on my face and a wealth of gratitude in my heart for the years of love and happiness she gave my son and daughter-in-law. (This picture is from my daughter in law).

This last weekend, when I wasn’t running from one place to the next, I binge watched design shows. I don’t really care about the rest of  the house, but I love kitchens. They don’t have to be big or fancy, but they must have the right working triangle (between the sink, stove and refrigerator), good counter space, lots of storage and be light filled. I’m a fan of light and bright kitchens.

But according to the videos I’ve been watching, “moody” kitchens are starting to trend. Those a darker style. Okay, I just want to know–who thinks a moody space stocked with sharp objects is a good idea????

Wait, I know who–a writer! A moody kitchen could make for a great scene. I could make it work for romance, mystery or a thriller. :-)

Which brings me to my question for you: Anyone else love kitchens?

Roxie was such a love. And now she’s frollicking on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, forever happy. 💖

Kitchens, huh? I suppose mine could be considered dark and moody. I have light walls–a pale, creamy yellow base with accents to make it look like French stucco, but my cabinets are the color of…well…I’m not sure. LOL A medium walnut? Mahogany? They’re a medium reddish wood stain. My countertops are the 1964 original turquoise fake marble laminate. Also, it’s in the center of the house so no real natural light though we’ve upgraded lighting to daylight bright LEDs. It’s workable for me but I’m not a huge baker or gourmet chef type. The one thing I love about it is the built-in wooden rolling board. I use it constantly, though not necessarily for rolling out dough. LOL Whenever we’ve looked at houses, I was more concering with the size of the bedrooms and whether the bathrooms were workable. And living space.

As for “just looking,” yeah, I’m interested in how other people live because I’m nosy like that. 🤣

I’m glad the week is getting better for you. Roxie had a good, long life with those she loved who loved her. Thanks for sharing her picture. She looks like she was an awesome dog.

Yep, kitchens should be bright and happy. They are the ‘heart of the home’, after all. Who wants that to be gloomy and dismal? Alas, I love my kitchen but for the fact that it has no windows. And not enough counter space. Loads of length, but not quite deep enough. I leave the light on to combat the gloom and do the best I can with limited space. LOL about the writers and gloomy kitchens.

What a great photo. She’s smiling with her toys. You can tell she was a loving girl.

I love kitchens too. They make or break a house for me. It’s a NO to moody kitchens.

We got bad news today. Our niece (37) who had been battling breast cancer since she was 24 died Monday. That cancer kept spreading through her body and she would fight it off. She even had brain tumors 3 times from it but rallied back. Unfortunately her body just couldn’t fight anymore. So very sad for the family.

It’s been VERY cold here and will be again tomorrow.

I hope you are having a good day.

Silver, love the Rainbow Bridge. That always makes me smile.

We all have different priorities in our houses. As long as it works for you. That’s probably a better wood on your cabinets that what is standard in homes now. Oh I remember those wooden boards if it’s the pull out kind? Those really do come in handy. I haven’t seen on in a new build in years though.

When actually buying a house, we have to think of a lot more than the kitchen. Kitchen’s are just my favorite part. It’s the place I’d blow my budget if not for the fact that I’m cheap, LOL But having enough bedrooms and good living space makes the houses much more functional :-)

I like seeing how other people live too. We can be nosy together, LOL.

B.E., thanks she was an awesome dog.

Everyone always gathers in my kitchen, so I agree with the heart of the home concept. Some people must enjoy the darker looks since they are remodeling to get them. Who knows. And we have to work with what we have, things like lack of natural light and not enough counter space are issues a lot of people deal with I think. I mean it’s fun to dream about expensive spaces, but not as fun to actually pay for them :-) But for me, I just like looking.

Viki, I’m so sorry about your niece. She was way too young, and she sounds like a strong brave woman to have fought that battle. I hate cancer. My condolences to all your family. I hope knowing that she’s no longer suffering helps a little bit.

    I knew you’d love kitchens too :-)

You guys are really getting hit with the cold this year.

I hope you and your family are doing ok. Losing someone is just so hard. Hugs.
