Weekend Roundup

Happy Valentine’s Day!

That was a fun weekend. Saturday I baked a chocolate chip peanut butter cookie cake while Wizard went to see Turbo.  Turbo met Grandpa at the door and immediately took him in his room to play. It’s just too cute, and Wizard was so happy when he came home. Then when Grandpa had to leave, he told Turbo he had to go home and take care of Maggie. That’s what we always tell him. But Turbo said, “No you don’t, Grandpa. Grandma’s there taking care of Maggie.” LOLOL! Busted! Long story short, Grandpa was an hour late getting home because Turbo wanted him to stay. I accepted that excuse :-)

Then Sunday we celebrated BLB’s birthday with just BLB and his wife. Sometimes it’s nice to keep it small. We made tri tip and shrimp, then had the cookie cake which came out pretty well. I’ve never used this recipe, and I converted it to non-dairy, so  I wasn’t sure how it’d turn out. The important thing is Youngest was happy with his birthday cake. His actual birthday is in a couple days.

Also, they brought us a bottle of wine as a congratulations for our news, which I’ll share now :-) Wizard and I signed a contract for a new house one week ago today. We’re excited (more like thrilled!), but it’s going to be a long process as it’s a new build that won’t even begin forming the foundation until next month or later. It looks like it’ll be September or October before it’s finished. I’ll be sharing a lot about the house and our experience over the next few months.

It was so fun taking Youngest and his wife to see the models. They were both so interested, and my daughter-in-law is great at decorating on a budget so I was chatting to her about everything and she was being very helpful and sweet.

I’m also excited that this house will have a great space for an office. I really haven’t given up on writing.

So that was my weekend, how was yours? I hope everyone had a fun and safe weekend!

Congrats on the new house. I spent weekend doing collage and working on several art journals. Loved it.

SQUEE for your new house! Congratulations!

Oh, and Happy Valentines Day! Yay for Wizard getting some Turbo time. That kid is too cute. Yay for your cookie cake and Happy Birthday to BLB. =o)

My weekend was all baking and editing. Nothing too exciting. I’m up to page 154 in the editing. But the book is at 371 pages now, so no huge gains. It’s slow going, but it’s worth it.

Congrats on the new house! I can’t wait to hear more. Is it in the same vacinity or closer to one of the kids? One-story or two? Pool? Inquiring minds want to know!!! Hopefully, when the time comes, your present house will get snapped up ASAP! Also TURBO TIME™! He’s too cute and so is Wiz. Happy Almost Birthday again, BLB! Yummy cookie cake and dinner. Sounds like your weekend rocked!

We got the TV situation sorted. Finally. LOL It meant much cleaning, moving, sorting of cords, etc. The big one is in place in the family room, up and mostly running. We still need to set up the streaming app subscriptions. Is it too much to hope that they’ll just “populate” automatically with passwords, etc? The TV in there went into the master bedroom, so we can now stream in there! I may never get out of bed. LOL Just kidding. The slightly smaller TV in the bedroom is now in my office and the basically tiny (32″) TV from my office is in the guest room. There might be a way that Stormy could use his Fire stick to watch streaming in there. There’s no U-verse box in there.

I roasted a turkey breast for turkey sandwiches for last night’s dinner. Yummy stuff. We made our sandwiches during the half time show. We were totally NOT the audience for that one. The rest of the Super Bowl was pretty cool. For a change.

Didn’t do much else. All the cleaning, sorting, and hefting left us tired Saturday. LG was out and about yesterday morning dealing with an older veteran that he looks after and I dealt with puppers and dinner prep.

Hoping to get back on track this week. After today, that is. Plumbers at some point plus Wallyworld run. Not sure I’ll be able to settle to think about getting creative.

Have a great week, all, and very Happy Valentine’s Day! 🥰💖😍😘

    Happy Valentine’s Day!

You had a weekend packed with goodness.

Nice to hear that the cookie cake converted to non-dairy well. Dinner sounds good too. Again, Happy Birthday BLB!

Turbo is SO smart and a super cutie too. Sorry you weren’t able to go and see him with Wizard but I’m sure there are times Wizard can’t go with you. Turbo probably loves the one on one time too.

I had a feeling it was about a house when you mentioned earlier that you and Biker Witch were looking at model houses. It was either a new house or a new grandchild ;).

Middle came over on Saturday and worked on the digital archiving of our family albums. He tired out my printer and it started turning blue and flashing all kinds of lights. I told him it got over heated and was done for the day. Middle laughed at me. Middle also brought the vegan doughnuts. They were very good. They didn’t have the raspberry hibiscus so he got me a lemon lavender and it was amazing.

Hubs and I went out for that yummy Valentine dinner and it didn’t disappoint🥰.

I had the water treatment people here this morning to do the yearly service and the most important item for raising our ph wasn’t on their order so they didn’t bring the Corosex. Now they have to come back on Wednesday and do that. It was a cost shock to me too. The bill was $250 more than last year. I can account for $160 but the rest is just inflation.

Well, I hope you have a fantastic Valentine’s Day!

Diane, thank you! Your weekend sounds both relaxing and fulfilling. I love the idea of an art journal, by the way :-)

B.E, thanks, we’re so excited. And of course, I think Turbo is cute but I could be biased as his grandmother, LOL.

Baking is always exciting to me :-) And any progress on editing is awesome. Slow just means you’re doing a great job.

Silver thanks! I’ll tell you guys allll about it. And when I get too boring, you all will tell me :-)

Yay for the new TV being up and working, and the other TVs rotating. That’s a big job. Well I would HOPE the apps will populate if you sign in, but it’s always a crapshoot if that will actually happen. It’ll be nice to have streaming in the bedroom too.

Turkey sandwiches on Superbowl are always good. I’ve done that before. I love turkey. I only caught a bit of the half time show cuz I was cooking and talking. Glad you liked the game!

Both you and LG deserved a break after all that work. And it sounds like today is your day to get all the stuff taken care of so creativity can happen later in the week. Hope all went well with the plumber.

Viki, thank you! It was a good weekend. I have more opportunities to go see Turbo alone, so I always try to give Wizard that same chance, and it gave me time to blare music and test my recipe :-)

LOL that was a good tip on Biker Witch looking at the models with me. Although we both love looking at model homes, and we need to do it more just for fun.

It’s so cool that Middle is doing this for you. Getting all those photos converted to digital is priceless. LOL on your printer.

Those vegan donuts sound delicious. I love lemon, so that would be right up my alley. I’m not sure what hibiscus tastes like, but I’m assuming it’s a light, complementary flavor.

It’s awesome that you and hubs had a wonderful Valentines dinner over the weekend. Meals out can get expensive so it’s nice when they don’t disappoint.

Well that sucks that they didn’t bring the right treatment to get your ph where you need it. I hope its taken care of on Wednesday. And that’s a huge jump in price. Inflation is hurting a lot of people, most especially those on fixed incomes.

Hope the rest of your week goes well!
