Weekend Roundup

The weekend was pretty decent, despite the annoying time change. On Friday, I made another Marshall (from PAW Patrol) for Turbo’s cake next weekend, and he came out better. It’s not as good as I think I can do, but I’m keeping him in case I don’t have a chance to redo it before next Sunday (fondant is stable enough to keep a long time at room temp). Here’s a quick pick.

Saturday, we went out to see Turbo. We went to Turbo’s swimming lessons, then got him McDonalds. That part of the day was great. But when we left that morning before we left, I went to put Maggie on her leash and take her out front to go to the bathroom. I do this before we’re going to be gone for longer trips because I know she’ll empty her bladder in this one spot in the yard. Maggie knows this routine well. But this time, she ran to Wizard and hid with her tail tucked. We were both surprised as she never does that. We’ve been running about so much, I think she was just over it. But it was so unlike her, we both have kept an eye on her to see if something else is wrong, but nope, she’s eating fine and acting normal. I suspect she was just trying to get us to stay home or take her with us.

Sunday, Wizard went racing, while I did routine stuff and made a point of hanging out with Maggie and taking her for two walks.

Oh, I got annoyed with books I’ve been trying to listen to, that I pulled up an oldie — The Bride by Julie Garwood. I’m so enjoying relisting to this one! She was one of my favorite authors many year ago, and I was awestruck when I saw her at my very first conference. However I was so shy then I didn’t say anything to her. By the way, I’m still shy by nature, I just hide it well most of the time. Or I think I do :-)

Anyway, that was my weekend, how was yours?

I love your Marshall! (Keep in mind, though, I’ve never watched Paw Patrol.) I think he’s super cute! Yay for Turbo time! Aww, poor Maggie. At least she got extra walks. Bummer about getting annoyed with books. I totally get that. Yay for finding an old favorite to turn to. You’re like me, I think – shy in person, gregarious online. I fake it well when I’m out there sometimes, though.

The weekend here was pretty tame. I made pumpkin bread on Friday and pizza on Saturday. Over the weekend, I also gave myself a good talking to and last night, I got new words out. Then this morning, I finished the edit notes from my betas, so all I have to do now is proofing, formatting, and uploading for the book to be live. Yay.

Marshall is all kinds of PAWSOME! And he looks just like the “real” pupper. Yay for Turbo Time™ and yes, Maggie just wanted to go, or y’all stay. I bet with the extra attention she’s fine now. She just wants to be with her people.

Our weekend was pretty low-key after the snow on Friday. It did warm up enough to melt stuff but we didn’t feel like getting out. I watched some softball, did some research on the new WIP–terrain satallite maps are good for “scouting” locales. The route I had my characters going is mostily flat, farmland. 🤦🏼‍♀️ The scenes are in mountainous forests with a big river. Yeah, had to move locales. LOLOL I also worked on updating covers on the four I’m getting rights back on and started revising one of them. I’m getting a late start today–grocercy run and Stormy is here today and tomorrow for the start of spring break because Baseball Boy has…baseball. Anyway. I hope to have it done today, though I figured out I have to “fix” and reupload ALL my freaking books due to the updated backmatter. And the time change isn’t helping. I just want to crawl back into bed and sleep.

On that note, if I don’t get through emails and blogs, I won’t get anything done today. Have an awesome week, all! 🥰

I think Marshall turned out great! Turbo will love him🥰.

That’s so great you and Wizard being able to go to swim lessons with Turbo. Where Harrison goes, only one parent is allowed in. Going to MacDonald’s afterward must have been a fun treat too. I think every kid loves MickyD’s 😊.

Poor Maggie. It does sound like she just wanted to be with you. She hasn’t shown any signs that there is anything amiss with her. Is that still holding true? I hope so. She might just be picking up on the fact that things are changing in her world and she doesn’t understand what’s going on. She just wants to be with her safe mom and dad.

I’m glad you’re enjoy a favorite book /author after the books you were listening to. I have the 100 page rule unless they do something so awful it makes me sick. If I don’t like it by 100 pages, I never will and why waste my time.

My weekend was cold and snowy. I made a carrot cake yesterday. I think I’m allergic to walnuts so I put chopped pecans in mine ☺. Tastes good to me.

    Have a great afternoon!

B.E., really, you’ve never watched Paw Patrol? LOLOL! I don’t think I have actually watched it either. But I have a lot of conversations about it these days with Turbo :-) I suspect a lot of people fake it in person. Being social is a learned skill. But some of us need a certain amount of alone time too.

Wow you did a lot this weekend! Baking, finishing edits and new words is a lot of work! Well okay you finished the edits today which is not technically the weekend, but that still counts :-)

Your book will be out in the world soon!

Silver, thanks on Marshall. And yeah I agree on Maggie. I used to take her with us more, but these days it’s harder for a variety of reasons, none of it Maggie’s fault.

Sounds like a good weekend to stay home. And we all have those times, or at least, I do. Well of course your scenes are in the mountains while the actual terrain is flat farmland :-) I’ve had that happen to me too. It always reminds me of a book I read where the author did a note that said something like, “I moved things about a bit in the city (can’t remember which one), but don’t worry I put it all back when I was done.” Since that note was in the front of the book, I was able to go along with her changes without my brain sending out constant error messages. In any case, you’ll get it all sorted, but isn’t it amazing how we can lose hours even days to google (maps included) doing research?

You’ve had a busy day! hope you got a lot done and have/had (depending on when he leaves or left) fun with Stormy.

    Happy Time Change Monday!

Viki, thanks on Marshall. They’ve lifted most restrictions here, so it was fine for us to bein the viewing area. if something did happen, we can get to Turbo which is also awesome. So true about kids and McDonalds.

I agree on Maggie. We’ve been stressed (who hasn’t???) and it affects her. But otherwise she’s acting fine. She’s definitely eating consistently well so that’s good. I think, as you mentioned, she was just uneasy or lonely.

You’re better than I am these days. If a book doesn’t hook me in the first chapter, I often drift away. Partly because I’m reading on my Kindle and can switch to other things on there. But this book I’m finding excuses to listen to it just because it’s light and fun.

Sorry about the cold and snowy weekend, but the carrot cake probably helped! I didn’t know you were allergic to walnuts. Pecans are a good substitute as long as they are safe for you.

Hope this week warms up some for you!
