Saturday, we took Maggie with us and went to our lot. They’re doing rough plumbing, so they have pipes laid and sticking up in key places, and board outlining the house around piles of dirt. This was a bit of a reality check for us. We knew intellectually that we are downsizing our outdoor space significantly.
But knowing it is one thing, seeing it is a stark reality check. I remember the same mental adjustment when we moved into our current home which has about half the backyard of our first home. In the new house, adding the sunroom and patio cover really reduced the already small yard we would have had, but they are a better use of space for us. Like I said, we chose this lot knowing all this. And the good news is that there won’t be any homes build behind us, and the house on either side of us are terraced which gives us more privacy.
Maggie was interesting when we were walking around the lot with Wizard. She’s used to walking all over with me, but she was anxious when we went specifically to out lot. At the time, I assumed it was because she didn’t know how to navigate the open trenches and around the piles and piles of dirt. I led her safely from the front to the back and returned to the front again, and she was better but not totally relaxed. Then on a walk yesterday, we went up to the house from the back side and crossed onto the lot. She effortlessly followed the same path I’d showed her to the front with full confidence. So either she was just unsure the day before, or she was misreading Wizard’s intense concentration as anxiety while he was walking through determining each room and layout. I suspect it was a little of both. It’s be so cool if they could just tell us their worries so we could help them 
But it’s my job to figure it out.
Otherwise, the weekend was just a weekend. The highlights were a long walk with Maggie and stopping by youngest and his wife’s house to visit for a short time. I got to play with my grand dog Phoebe as a bonus. You guys had to see her work out what to do with her beloved ball when I offered her a carrot (she loves carrots). She finally chose to put the ball down, but her golden retriever brain had to ponder the impossible choice for a few seconds, LOL. She’s such a character and I adore her.

Yep, Maggie was probably picking up and misreading some signals from Wizard. Either that or when you went the third time, she was over her anxiety about the new place. Third time’s the charm, eh? LOL Yay for getting to spend time with your grandpuppy, too. =o)
It was a pretty bland weekend here. The weather was nice, though, so we got outside. And for a change, we didn’t do any chores while we were outside. We just enjoyed the weather. Okay, so maybe I did pull some weeds from around the daylilies. They were getting choked over there. I need to do some actual yardwork this week. If the weather holds. While we were out, I noticed all 5 of my replanted peonies are coming up. I have two varieties, though, and I have no clue which ones are which. Oh, well. It’ll be a surprise when they bloom.

Maggie knows her people well! And Goldens are…golden. LOL Yay for progress on the house and visits.
Mostly a quiet weekend here. I did a little writing, lots of laundry, some book listening, and watched baseball and softball. My Cowgirls are doin’ good, sweeping Texas Tech and ranked in the top 10. #1 OU had a squeaker yesterday which was crazy because they’re undefeated and have run-ruled teams 24 times this season. Baylor finally scored in the 5th and it was 1-0 until the bottom of the 7th (last inning). OU FINALLY got some runners on and then one of their big guns hit a 3-run walk-off homer for the win.
Boone nailed LG in the eye with his paw so LG headed to the ER early Sunday morning because his vision was foggy and it hurt. He has two abrasions so antibiotic ointment and eyepatch. He’s still in some pain and numbing it with ice packs. *sigh* At least his medical is free at VA and he got lucky–short wait-time and a good doc.
Wallyworld this morning and Stormy this afternoon. Not sure how much work I’ll get done but I totally have to buckle down this week and get stuff ready to go for reupload after rights revisions. *BIG SIGH*
On that note, time to put on real clothes and my “I can people” face. Cheers to a good week for all.

Congratulations on ground breaking. How exciting this time is for all of you.
Maggie was probably picking up on emotions. Glad she seemed fine yesterday. Did you take her there again today? How was she? I’m guessing she was just a bit anxious.
How is Phoebe doing? Glad you got to play with her.
We had over 5 inches of snow over the weekend and it’s cold. Strange that you are super hot and we a very cold – weather🙄.
The vet called Friday evening with Spunk’s test results and all is pretty good on that front. So she suggested that we try Prednisone for a little while and see if inflammation is the cause for the vomiting. He’s had two days of pills so far and he is reacting like we do to the drug – very hungry and thirsty. This is going to be a fun trial period.

Nice weather always brightens a weekend. Yay for getting outside and relaxing (even if you couldn’t resist pulling a few weeds).
The peonies will be beautiful and are something to look forward to.

Silver, yep Goldens are their own special selves, LOL. Phoebe always makes me smile.
So your weekend had a big dose of stress. So sorry about LG’s eye and Boone’s issues. I wish I could help, but since I’m not there “seeing” what’s happening, I’d just be more annoying then helpful.
It is an upside that LG has full medical coverage.
Laundry is boring, and I know that for sure from my decades of doing it
Your teams are offering you more excitement so that’s a positive.
Hope you successfully and swiftly navigated Walmart, followed by a burst of adrenaline to tackle the rights reverted books.

Viki, Phoebe is doing good. She’s older too, but after a few days of grief and a couple weeks of a little tinge of sadness, she’s adjusting well. They let Phoebe keep Roxy’s bed and other things remain in the house too. I believe the familiar scent helped Phoebe, if that makes sense. Plus dogs tend to handle things as well as their owners, and both of them are moving forward while remembering Roxy. That was probably a lot more than you wanted to know, LOL.
It’s cold and rainy today, so Maggie and I didn’t go. But I’m sure your right and she was misreading us. There’s a certain amount of normal stress in buying a house, but I can’t explain that to a dog.
Wow that’s a lot of snow! We were very hot, but a storm moved in overnight. We aren’t getting a lot of rain here but some areas are. Crazy how fast it changes, but I’m happy for it to cool off a bit. Hope you get some nice weather soon.
It is good news that they didn’t find something definitely wrong. But dang, digestive problems are sometimes very hard to isolate. And prednisone is harsh the first few days. Hopefully Spunk adjusts quickly. I also hope it helps his stomach upsets. It’s not fun to see our pets suffer, and even worse when we can’t isolate why so we can help.
