Weekend Roundup

Hope all who celebrated had a good Easter! We went to Middle Son’s and daughter in law’s. My DIL is an excellent cook, and she smoked a pork loin. I’m generally not a port eater, but this was good. I ate a slice and a half, which for me, is impressive :-) Youngest son loved it, and was quizzing DIL on her recipe and methods. I see a smoker in his future, LOL.

Middle Son and DIL had an egg hunt for Turbo too. It was so cute. He loved it. DIL’s mom had filled a bunch of plastic eggs with toys, chocolate and money for him. I thought it was really sweet.

And we all got to play with Jett and Hazel. I didn’t think to take pictures (my phone usually stays in my purse), but they are super nice dogs. Jett, however, doesn’t know he’s huge, and can bowl people over with affection, so we have to watch him around Turbo. Poor Jett is confused by us holding him back when his smaller, gentler sister plays with Turbo. But then he plopped down and watched like a good boy.

It was a fun and relaxing family day, and Youngest got a box of homemade cookies out of it :-)  I made two kinds of non dairy cookies and took them all just to get them out of my house. I really wanted to test the non-dairy white chocolate macadamia nut recipe. Especially since it was vegan and getting those to turn out can be a little tricky. I got a positive response from everyone which was nice.

Otherwise, Maggie and I took two walks on Saturday, and the second one involved climbing huge stairs in to the side of hill (it’s part of a trail).  I haven’t tried going up those since my neck surgery. I was too afraid of falling because some of the risers are so large. But we did it on Saturday. Only problem was once we went up, we had to go back down. Maggie was fine because she’s part goat. But I’m just a two-legged human with cranky knees. I handled the normal spaced steps, the but big ones had my knees yelping as I tried to step down. I had to tell Maggie to wait at each step. That part was slow progress, and I had to look ridiculous, but we made it! I call that a win.

This week is going to be busy with appointments, we’re babysitting Turbo Thursday (I think) , and I need to do a cake for this Saturday so I need to run around getting stuff I need for that.

How was your weekend?

I’m so glad to see you had a lovely weekend with your family. Yay! Yeah, knees and stairs don’t go well together. :hugs: Good luck with your appointments and have fun with Turbo.

Another quiet weekend here. We did steak and shrimp for Easter dinner. They turned out good. I should’ve made more shrimp, because I could’ve eaten a basket of those, but we have loads left, so it’s not like I can’t do that again. We watched a couple good movies yesterday – The Dry (a murder/suspense set in Australia) and An Ideal Husband (Oscar Wilde). Fun fun.

Yummy goodies, better company, and I totally get that coming down stairs thing! I have to hold the rail, step down with my left foot, step down with my right, and then move to the next step. Going up? I can left-step, right-step all the way up. Elevators and escalators are my friend. LOL

There was a weekend. I did very little. The James Gang gathered Saturday night for a combo Baseball Boy Belated Birthday and Easter. LG got Liam a microscope/telescope combo thingy for Easter. Uncle Fix-It got him a chocolate bunny. BB got money because really, at our ages? Isn’t that what we all really want? In sports news, OSu won3, OU won 2 lost 1. Ended their win streak at 40 games. Wow. And in other news, I think I’ve figured out my brain fog. Hopefully, it will clear up after tomorrow.

    Have a great week, all!

I’m glad you had such a wonderful time with family this weekend. Poor Jett, being big can have a disadvantage at times.
Do you feel like you climbed Everest? I would. That’s a great accomplishment. Sorry that your knees let you know it on the way down.
Can’t wait to hear more about the cake. Is it for your Mother-In-Law?

It’s been snowing like crazy here since noon. Sometimes the flakes are the size of half dollars. We need to remind Mother Nature that we’re half way through April – give it a rest.
Today my mom is getting the results from the CT she had last week (follow up on the cancer). Since she has had no treatment, all I can do is pray.
My brother is having the prostrate biopsy right now. Again, praying.
Saturday night while eating salmon, hubs crown popped off. He’s having that re-set right now.
Saturday, I went over to say bye to Harrison. He appears to be handling it all okay. I hope it holds up. The moving truck loaded up today and the family drive down tomorrow.

I hope you are having a great afternoon!

B.E., thanks. On my knees — if I had to I could have walked the rest of the trail then called Wizard to pick me up. But I wanted to see what I could handle :-)

Sounds like your shrimp was yummy! And it’s nice to know you can make it again since you have it on hand. Steak and shrimp is one of my favorites these days.

Yay for the movies. Anytime Wizard and I land on a movie we enjoy, we’re happy. We turn off probably half the movies these days.

Hope your week is off to a great start!

Silver, I’m always surprised that it’s harder to go down than up the stairs. I learned that when my RA was out of control. But we figure it out and make it work, right?

Yay for the family celebration of Easter and BB’s birthday. Love the microscope/telescope for Stormy, that’s just awesome. And you can’t go wrong with a chocolate Easter bunny.

Gifts at our age is hard, so yeah, money works. I do gift cards so they can order what they want.

Really???? If you have a solution to brain fogs, bottle and sell it! Okay, oaky, I know you mean your specific situation, but still…you could be rich!

Question: Did you give blood? Were your numbers up? Don’t answer if you don’t want to, I was just thinking about you.

    Happy Monday!

Viki, it’s so true for Jett. He’s truly a sweet dog without a mean bone in his body. But we all gave him lots of love yesterday so he was fine.

I did feel I accomplished what I wanted to the time I climbed the steps. Next time I’ll go through so I don’t have to go down the steps. Then call Wizard to pick us up since the trail ends pretty far away.

Yep the cake is for my mother in law. It’s going to be pretty simple since I have to transport it.

I can’t believe you’re still getting that much snow! That’s crazy. Are we sure Mother Nature didn’t have some kind of mental breakdown?

A lot of serious family health news coming at you today. I’m praying for good news. For your mom, yeah, no treatment means everyone needs realistic expectations, but hopefully it’s very slow progress. For your brother, I hope it’s nothing, but if they find trouble, I hope it’s early when that particular cancer has a very good treatment prognosis. I’ll be thinking of you all!

I’m really happy you were able to go see Harrison! It sounds like his parents have prepared him as well as possible for the transition of moving. Hope you and hubby are doing okay. It has to be hard for both of you to have him moving out of state.

I really hope the week is filled with as much positive news as possible and your worries can ease.
