Weekend Roundup

A good, or at least, not bad weekend :-)  Saturday we went to see Turbo and his parents. Turbo’s doing great, and it was nice to get out. Sunday, Wizard went racing, and I had things I needed to get done at home. I got everything on my original list done, but I always want to do more :-)

Today the plan is to go with Youngest son and his wife to San Diego for the day. We’d like to go on the USS Midway Museum, the harbor cruise and lunch but we’ll see how the day goes.

I started in listening to a set of books titled Beechwood Harbor Magic Series. It’s light, and pretty easy to follow, which is perfect for me as I’m sorting, packing and cleaning. I wouldn’t say it’s a page turner, but I love the narrator and find her kind of soothing. Which is good when I’m going through boxes of stuff from my parents and brother who’ve passed on years ago. And inhaling centuries of dust, LOL! Wow, those boxes I store stored out of sight on top shelves collected an impressive amount of dust, and I hadn’t even realized it. I’m re-evaluating just how “clean” I actually keep the house :-)

So that’s my weekend, how was yours?

Good to have a laid back weekend, even with the dust and cleaning. Have fun on your day trip. Driving or taking the train?

Saturday, we dealt with the escape-artist dogs from down the street. I think LG and I came up with a solution to help keep them from tearing up the base of the chainlink fence to get into the yard. We’ll see.

My OSU Cowgirls dit it! They beat OU in the Big 12 Championship game. They were tied after the 7th so went into extra innings. OSU loaded the bases with a hit single, a hit-by-pitch, a bunt the runner beat out and the OU’s pitcher walked the batter for what would become the winning run. OSU’s pitcher allowed one runner on base in the bottom of the 8th with one out, got a strike out, then a flyout to right field. They stayed ranked #7 and got their regional and if they win it, will keep the super regional there in Stillwater.

In baseball, we watched history being made in the Giants/Cardinals game. In the 7th, the Cards were up substantially so to save the bullpen, the Giant’s manager brought in an outfielder to pitch (he’d pitched some in college.) Cards scored more. In the bottom of the 8th, he figured out how to pitch that baseball slow pitch style for strikes. Then, the real history is that ALBERT PUJOLS came in to pitch the top of the 9th. Both teams had fun and the crowd loved it. I thought the MLB/ESPN commentators were going to go crazy up in the booth. Amazing stuff.

Not much else going on. Working my way through Janiene Frost’s THE OTHER HALFWAY OF THE GRAVE. It’s the first book in the Night Huntress series reimagined through Bones’s POV rather than Cat’s. Interesting (I really like Bones) but it’s not compelling, which is good because I’m actually getting writerly work done.

Postponing my Wallyword trip for a bit today. LG and Boone had a really bad night. Boone is down and quiet under my desk and LG is asleep on the couch so Jake and I’ll wait awhile to go. Normally, I’d be headed out about now to beat the crowds and get a close-up parking space next to a cart corral because I’m all lazy like that.

    Have a great week, all!

Sounds like you had a good weekend. Getting to see Turbo always makes it a good day :) .

Today sounds like a great day too. Were you able to go on the USS Midway Museum? It’s amazing the cramped space these guys lived/live in.

I chuckled about the dust. I have the same problem but it’s not from boxes of those who have passed. It’s just my own juke  . Also up high where I can’t see so it’s fine, it doesn’t need to be cleaned regularly (so I tell myself).

Today is Hubs birthday and yesterday was youngest’s. I bought a mixed berry pie, which is surprisingly good. I also bought porterhouse steaks for last night. Even on sale they cost a fortune. We all loved them.

    Don’t work too hard.

    Have a really wonderful day!

Silver, we were driving, but we had to reschedule the trip. Wizard and I found out last night we were exposed to Covid so we all decided to try again in a couple weeks. We really didn’t think take possible Covid on a confined ship was wise.

Yay for your Cowgirls! That sounds like a great game! Wizard as a life long Giants fan wasn’t as happy about that game, LOL! But he wasn’t able to actually see the game, so it’s good to hear that both teams and everyone else had fun.

Getting writerly work done is awesome! And not-compelling books have their place. I like them for high stress or super busy times.

A random aside: I think about stories I’d like to write all the time. I think I always will whether or not I write again. It’s how we’re wired, I guess.

Sorry Boone and LG had a bad night. I hope everyone has a good nights rest tonight!

Viki, nope we didn’t go. Like I told Silver, we were accidentally exposed to Covid. Better safe than sorry — especially in a confined space like a ship.

Yep these were boxes I’d put up in the high corner of a closet. I had to get a step stool just to reach it (which isn’t saying much since I’m about 5 foot 3 inches, LOL).

Happy Birthday to Hubs and Youngest! So happy you all enjoyed the steaks (despite the high cost) and berry pie!

Today I’m taking it easy for various reasons, and hope you’re having a great day too!
