Weekend Roundup

For everyone in the U.S. Happy Memorial Day! It’s a day of remembrance to honor all her served in the military, and especially those who laid down their lives. Wizard and I have spent the last week talking about our dads who both served. My dad was a pilot in WWII and Wizard’s dad was a Medic in the Korean war.

Our weekend was really good. Oldest and his family came over. This is the first time they got to see the model of our house, and the house itself in progress. Turbo loved all the dirt and hills, LOL! He’s such a little boy!

A cute story, he was watching NASCAR with Wizard, and turned to him, and asked, “Grandpa will you take me to the race when I’m bigger?” Grandpa was thrilled. Wizard hasn’t been to a race in years, but he’ll happy take Turbo when he’s older and can handle the noise level!

I got to spend time playing and talking to Turbo too. He’s so much fun these days! We were playing with a race track, and our cars kept ending up in jail for going too fast :-)

Once they left, Maggie crashed hard.  She’s loves company but they wear her out. Normally if I get up to do anything, she follows me. Last night, she didn’t care what I did, she just wanted to sleep.

So that was our weekend. How was yours!

Turbo is so awesome. He and Grandpa will be even greater friends as he gets older. Yay for family time and getting to see the new place. Poor Maggie. LOL

Our weekend was quiet. My OSU Cowgirls punched their ticket to the Women’s College World Series (WCWS) Friday night–the first team to do so. OU followed Saturday. I watched the other games, flipping between them and the Cardinals baseball game and OSU Cowboys baseball Big 12 Tournament. I sorta miss the days when we were usually AT a tournament watching Only play. Still, nice to have AC, no sunburn, and food.

Except we are under a boil order. :roll” The city put out a boil order for city water on Sunday afternoon after having “random” tests on Saturday and Sunday coming back positive for E-Coli. LG made a water run to the grocery store. We now have plenty in reserve because I don’t mind boiling. Dishes last night was fun–bleach in the regular tap water and soap to wash, then empty the sink, rince it, stack the dishes back in and rinse them with freshly boiled water. Reminded me of Girl Scout camp and why I’m not a camper. Update today is that “problem” is confined to a small area, the water treatment plant is fine, but the state environmental quality agency says boil order has to cover entire town. Yippee. Two notes here. 1) First test was Saturday. We had contact with water Saturday and Sunday. No ill effects. 2) If the treatment plant is not the source, the likelihood of wide-spread contamination is miniscule. I’m so over this. LOL

That pretty much sums up life. I need to stop procrastinating and get some work done. Gonna get right on that. As soon as I get another cup of coffee. Have a great week, all! 🥰

How sweet of Turbo to ask Grandpa to take him to the races. You know, you can get kids ear muffs like the rock stars use for their kids. Harrison wears them when they go watch the trains. He’s been wearing them since he was 2.

I bet you had a great time playing race cars with Turbo too. He’s a very safe young man locking up those speeders  .

This is too funny. We have so many similarities. You took Turbo and family to the new house and he had fun playing in the dirt. Saturday Harrison went to his “to be built” new house. They have just broken ground. He has a child size backhoe which they brought with them and Harrison proceeded to work on digging the garage foundation. Boys are just too darn much fun!

I took a bunch of books in to half price books Saturday and they were thrilled with some of my items. I’m glad that others will get the joy out of these books. I still have so many more I should really turn in. Another day  .

I feel for Silver having the boil alert but it’s better to be safe with Ecoli.

Sure hope you have a Blessed Memorial Day.

Silver, yay for your Cowgirls!! You must be so excited!

I miss some of going to my kids games, but I sure don’t miss the grind of trying to do it all with 3 kids! Still I understand your point.

And Mega Boo on having to boil your water for possible E-Coli. Drinking water is the easy part, it’s the everything else that is hard. Like Viki, I really feel for you guys. Hope you get the all clear and safe alert soon.

If I remember right, E-Coli usually causes problems pretty quickly so hopefully you avoided any contamination before the boil warning went out.

Hope you were able to get enough safe coffee and got some work done (if that was your goal for today!).

Viki, the ear protection is a good idea!

Yep, Turbos safe until he let the cars break out of jail, LOL! He’s a little flexible on the rules of the game.

I can picture Harrison with his backhoe! So cute! Boys really are fun. I’m sure girls are too, but I’ve only had boys as kids and grandkids so far :-)

That’s awesome that you took your books to share with others. Back when I read physical copies, I’d have bags of books to donate between me and my sister. I miss that!

    I feel for Silver too!

Hope you have a good Memorial Day too. Ours is quiet which is perfect after yesterday’s fun.

I’m so glad you had a good weekend. Yay for Turbo time! I’m so glad that Turbo and Wizard enjoy each other so much. Viki’s ear muff idea is a good one. I think Boze makes noise-cancelling headphones, or something. I bet Maggie was tuckered out. Kids tucker me out, too. ;o)

We had a busy weekend of yard work and then yesterday we just lounged. The only thing I did was take some iris bulbs over to the new neighbor gal. She was outside with the kids, so we stood and chatted for a while. The kids are 10 and almost 3. Good kids, but very active. I’m thinking about offering to have the older one come over some days while her little brother is napping, so their Mom can have a break. She’s stay-at-home and the dad works nights, so it might be nice for her to have just a quiet hour here and there. And I’m not really doing anything anyway. Might be good for me.
    =o)

B.E., LOL kids tucker me out too :-)

That was lovely of you to take iris bulbs to the new neighbor! Three year olds are incredible balls of energy. Ten year olds are too, but they have a few more ounces of self preservation than a three year old!

You’re awesome to think of giving the mom a break by having the 10 year old come over. You might find the 10 year old is interested in some of the things you enjoy like baking, writing, bird watching or gardening.

Hope your day is going well!
