Weekend Roundup

Pretty good weekend. Wizard had a nice Father’s Day. We went to breakfast, then youngest brought over pizza for a late lunch and I made an Oreo cake. When they left, Maggie and Wizard were both wiped out :-)  For Maggie it was from playing, for Wizard it was the cake, LOL. We skipped dinner after all that. Oldest and Middle called. Considering they both had just gotten home after planned vacations, a call was great. Also, Middle and his wife took the time out of their vacation to go do a little wine shopping for us, which we apricated since we can’t get up to wine country right now. Oldest and his family were on a cruise to Alaska, and Turbo had both his first plane ride and ship experience. He did pretty well on the plane, and he loved the ship.

I hope all the dads had a great Father’s Day. Though I lost my father at 13, his love and wisdom have lived on as a guiding light in my life. For my kids, their dad is the same guiding force, one that will live on for all their days. A father who is invested in their child fosters is a special and lasting relationship. I hope each dad had at a moment, if not an entire day, of feeling valued and recognized on Father’s Day.

How was your weekend?

I’m glad you had a nice weekend and that Wizard had a nice Father’s Day. I’m sorry you lost your father so young. That’s rough on a kid. :hugs:

We had a nice weekend. The neighbor boy turned 3 and they brought us cake. I had presents for him and his sister (because we missed her birthday). They both got books. Big surprise, LOL. It was pleasant enough to go for a walk yesterday, so that was nice. I should hear about the job today and that’s been taking up all my brain power, so basically I’ve been a toad.

Glad you had a nice weekend and that Wizard enjoyed his Father’s Day Oreo cake. It sounds so good.

You must have had a really nice day. Can’t blame you for not bothering with dinner especially after having pizza.

I made the cranberry orange loaf in the morning and it was more than half gone by noon. I didn’t have any, just hubs and youngest ;).

Youngest and lady spent Saturday at the new house removing all the flooring. He went to Home Depot Sunday morning and bought the new flooring and will begin laying it the end of the week. He bought 42 boxes of the stuff.

I made risotto, grilled asparagus, and broiled scallops for dinner and chocolate fudge cake. It all turned out well.

I hope you are having a fantastic day!

    B.E., thanks :-)

You are such a great neighbor! I hope the kids like their book presents — always a great gift!

I really hope you got good news today. The waiting is so hard!

Viki, we were way too full for dinner with both pizza and cake! I think we both had some fruit as a snack in the the evening.

That bread must have been amazing! And your dinner sounds really good. I’ve never made risotto, and I admire your ability. I love both grilled asparagus and fudge cake!

Wow Youngest is working hard! He’s going to make the house into a beautiful home. I admire his work ethic for sure.

How did I miss this post? Argh! So happy for Turbo’s adventures, wine, good kids, Oreo cake, and tired-out puppers and pup-dad. Sounds like it was a good day. LG slept in and we hid from the heat all day.

The Kids (well, Baseball Boy) finished the paperwork and picked up their “new” vehicle. The dealership ended up giving them $400 for the Jeep (that was worth about $3K IF running but the transmission would cost $5.5K to replace and that’s what they’d have gotten junking it out for parts.) Anyway, they got a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder, with 3rd row seating (extra cargo space!) and only 34K miles. That’s like…unheard of. They also got an extended warranty and the dealer knocked another $1K off the price so it was a good deal. I have my Highlander back! Yay.

That was pretty much our excitement for the weekend. And here it is halfway through the week. My brain sometimes…
