Happy 4th! & Weekend Roundup!

Happy 4th of July to everyone in the U.S.! I hope it’s a great day!

We had a good weekend for the most past. Friday wasn’t great — Biker Witch and I put our day out on hold because she had something come up. Then we had a “scheduled maintenance outage” for our electricity that ended up last 11 hours. In a 100 degree heat. Not fun.

Saturday was much better! We went to Youngest’s house for a mini pool party. That was so fun! It was great to see Turbo too, and of course, he loved the pool. He got Grandpa to take him in before anyone else got out there. I really enjoyed the day, and the girls and I were planning adventures. Who knows if we’ll do them, but it’s fun to talk about the possibilities. Especially now that Wizard and I have had our lives on hold for a while now with the house stuff, and now there’s an end in sight. It’s also nice to know the pool parties will continue even after we move (giving up our pool).

Sunday Maggie and I walked up to see if our house was dry walled yet. It is! And while I was in there, Maggie picked up a chicken bone. She spit it out as soon as I told her to — but eww! Someone didn’t clean up after their lunch. In any case, I was happy to see how much progress they made this week, but Maggie wasn’t happy about her leaving her prized chicken bone. She managed to get over her sadness when we got home andΒ  I have her breakfast :-)

Today we plan to hang out at home, make ribs and apple pie. We won’t leave Maggie since fireworks scare her. If we want to go watch them, we’ll take her with us.

How was your weekend?

I can’t imagine being without power for 11 hours in 100 degree heat. Well, actually, I can because it’s happened here but we just packed up and left for someplace that had AC and allowed pets. Of course, I’m old enough to remember life BEFORE AC. Somehow we managed but now? Nope. Nada. Not gonna deal. Gonna find a hotel ASAP! LOL

Sorry for Biker Witch plans. Hope everything is OK on her end but yay for pool parties and daydrkinking…er…dreaming with the girls. Fun times! And Turbo is such a cute little con. I wouldn’t know anything about kids like that.

We had siren test and then awesome Mexican food with the Kids. It’s really too bad the food there is beyond excellent. I always eat waaaay too much. We usually skip dinner. Except I had ice cream at 9 pm because I’d been setting up the new laptop and finally realized the time so I had to feed the dogs. Oops.

Yesterday was lazy day though I did get some revisions done–YAY! (and FINALLY!) and spent a little more time messing with the laptop. I’m trying to keep it minimalized–ie. strictly a work machine, meaning it has Dropbox (cloud storage), Scrivener (writing app), and Office. We’ll see how long that lasts because the screen is super hi-rez and I might just break down and stream a movie or something. While I’m working of course. 😏

I had fried catfish for dinner last night. It was YUMMY!

Today is down time. Doing laundry before the electricity goes up again for the work week and we hit critical heat peak times–forecast is 3-4 days of OVER 100 degrees. Double ugh! 😣 Big, thick, juicy homemade burgers for dinner tonight. Yummers. Though I’m still craving ribs. It’s just too dang hot to go out and get them.

Enjoy the 4th, y’all, and cheers to a good week for us all! πŸŽ†πŸŽ‡πŸŽ†

    Happy Independence Day!

When I read your comment Friday night about the power I was so thankful that you at least had the small generator. I hope all your food was okay and that you could at least run fans to try and be cool.

It makes me furious that CA, the richest state in the Union also most heavily taxed, makes you have black outs. If I could I would smack the government morons upside the head.

I hope all is okay with Biker Witch and that you have re-scheduled your get together.

How is your hair? Mine is fine but I think I’m going to ask her to go down 1/2 a shade. DIL had taken me up 1/2 a shade in Feb to do a better job covering the gray. Now it’s summer and I want it lighter  .

How nice that you were able to enjoy pool time at BLB’s and with Turbo :-P .

Yuck! People can be slobs. Poor Maggie thinking she had a special bone. Good thing she has good human parents and she had a much better breakfast.

Excellent news on the dry wall! I like when a plan comes together (Yes, the A-Team  ).

Have a super relaxing 4th and enjoy those ribs!

Silver, I’m with you, I don’t want to live without A/C! In the past, when the power company is doing maintenance or upgrading equipment it only takes a couple hours. I suspect they ran into a problem, and annoying as it was, that’s the point of doing the maintenance :-)

Everything is okay with BW, it was just a scheduling thing. We’ll do it soon!

I hear you on the good food! But being with family and having a good time makes up for any extra calories! Um, yeah, good luck with keeping the laptop a workhorse only. It’s hard to resist temptation especially with a hi res screen!

    Yay for the fried catfish.

I always do my laundry early too. Sorry for the heat :-( Hamburgers are always good! I love them when we make them at home. I probably like them better than ribs, but Wizard loves ribs.

Hope your 4th is fabulous and safe!

Viki, I probably said that wrong, yes the power was out for 11 hours, but it was the electric company (owned by investors not the state) doing maintenance and upgrades, not the government. We don’t have any kind of blackouts here unless the grids overload or some drunk hits a transformer or power line. Sorry if I miscommunicated that! I was really frustrated and worried, but we saved all the food. The freezer stayed cold enough probably because I happened to have a lot of frozen meant stacked toward the bottom, and a full ice bin on the top. Not bad for an old refrigerator!

Biker witch and I will reschedule soon, thanks :-)

My hair came out good — well as good as my hair will get. Going a half shade lighter will help and be perfect for summer! I have really hard water (too cheap to buy a softener) so my hair color fades fast. But that’s life, I guess.

I agree about slobs! It bugs me a lot. I’m just glad Maggie listens and I didn’t have to wrestle that bone from her. I sure as heck don’t want her getting a bone sliver in her belly. I watch too man veterinarian shows to make that mistake, LOL!

The A-Team rocked back in the day! Now seeing that one guy on commercials just makes me sad … and avoid mirrors :-)

Hope you guys are having a great 4th in spite of missing Harrison and his parents!
