Weekend Roundup

There’s not much weekend to roundup since it was quiet for me. But here’s a couple tidbits:

Biker Witch and I had coffee and hung out at Barnes and Noble on Friday. That was fun, and I totally lost track of time. I also bought a real book, like a trade paperback book, for the first time in years! I did it out of pure nostalgia. I love books, I love writing, I miss it. Buying that one trade paperback made me happy. I’m enjoying reading it, but I’m also realized why I read on Kindle. I can prop my Kindle up to read so my hands are free for important things, like drinking coffee.

We went to see youngest for a while. he was putting in a brick border on a flower bed and I played with his dog while Wizard advised him, LOL. Actually Wizard had good suggestions and I enjoyed watching the two of them work out exactly how to get the bricks level in a tricky area.

We drove around in the Mustang cuz…why not? Totally fun even if that machine is a gas guzzler.

We went into our new house–last week it was just barely drywalled–and this week they had done quite a bit of texturing on the walls. I went around a corner and slipped in a huge wet patch of whatever that goop is they put on the walls. I have no idea how I managed to catch myself — I was wearing flip flops! (Normally I’d be in real shoes but we didn’t know we were going by the house when we left.) Even Wizard was impressed I stayed on my feet and caught my balance while goop-skating, LOL. Luck I guess. On the other hand, falling isn’t usual my brand of Klutz. Walking into walls and other assorted things like kitchen islands is my preferred brand Klutz. One in a while I like to try something different and trip on something or other. Anyway, I was fine and Wizard even got my flip flops cleaned up after we got home :-) Naturally, I’m the one the lectures every single person who we take in the house to be care and watch where they’re walking. I really need to take my own advise!

We are hoping to push for a better idea of a move in date, but we know there’s no way they can really know because there are variables out of their control. We will deal with whatever happens.

No baking. I’ve been resisting, but I might make something non-dairy treats soon and pawn it off on youngest — who swears he doesn’t mind.

That was my weekend, now I’d love to hear about yours!

Sounds like you had a lovely weekend… well, except for the slippage thing. Yay for catching yourself!

I spent the weekend inside, escaping the heat and decompressing after the week. We both had such busy weeks we went to bed at 7:30p on Friday and slept 10 hours. Blerg. Other than that, I did a lot of reading. And some baking. Hubs was out of granola bars. Plus, I felt the need to make pizza. =o)

Yay Biker Witch Time, “real” books, Youngest Time, Mustang driving, and oops on the slip-not-fall. I do hope they scrape all that goop off the floor before putting down flooring material. Sounds like a good weekend, all-in-all.

We went to watch Stormy play soccer on Saturday morning. Lots of water breaks for the kids and they were dragging. The temps weren’t too bad but the humidity was ugly. We then followed The Kids back to their house. They packed up the Pathfinder for a 5-day trip to St. Louis for Cards baseball and museums. So glad they have the new vehicle. It means I get to keep Drover with me. LG brought Only’s Mustang home to do some comestic work on the interior and stuff.

I gave blood Sunday morning while it was still semi-not-hot. I giggle at the local weather folks we watch. When a front comes in from the north (normally referred to as a cold front), they are not calling it a not-as-hot front. It drops temps from the 100s to the 90s. LOL Anyway, I found a close parking place, there was only two other people in there giving at the time, so Jake and I were out in less than an hour. In-take, prep, and “recovery” takes longer than it does to pump the red stuff for me. And yes, we did detour to Starbucks on the way home. Jake got his picture taken by one of the staff. They gave me a bandana last time that says “My Human Donates” but it’s too small to go around his neck. Oh well.

And that’s the sum total of my weekend. Oh, that and I ate catfish for dinner Saturday night. I do love me some fried catfish! Have a great week, all!

Okay. One of those sentences does not make sense. I need more coffee. Re: the weather folks: …a cold front, they are not callit it a no-as-hot front. Yeah. They ARE calling it that, which is why we laugh. Just X-out that “not,” um-kay? And yes, I’m headed to the kitchen for more coffee right this instant. Well, right haver I hit the submit button… 🤦🏼‍♀️

Sounds like you had a nice weekend, not too rushed. That’s great that while out with Biker Witch you found a good “paper” book to buy and that you are enjoying the read.

It must have been fun to be able to stand back and watch the banter between BLB and Wizard putting up the brick border. I love how father’s and son’s relate.

Wow, I’m glad you didn’t get hurt slipping at the house. It does sound like things are moving along quiet nicely.

Riding around in the Mustang must have been fun but I hear you on the gas.

I don’t even think we did anything this weekend  . I did go to Petpeople to buy cat food and they can’t get it in. So I went on Amazon and they had two cases at more than 2x the normal price. Spunk is VERY finicky so I ordered one (12 cans). Well it arrived Saturday afternoon. It was only 1 can, not 12. They charged me $27.76. I went nuts on got on the phone with Amazon. They are supposed to credit my account in full. We’ll see.

Youngest came over last evening for a planned dinner w/o Courtney. She wouldn’t have come no matter what because she spent the morning at urgent care. She sprained her shoulder while moving furniture. You and I can really feel for her.

It’s another 90+ humid day here. I am staying inside and enjoying the AC :-D .

    Have a great afternoon!

B.E., reading and baking are great weekend activities. Plus pizza! You must make really good homemade pizza!

I bet you’re tired on weekends with the job. And it sounds like you both had an extra busy week. Glad you were both able to rest up.

Silver, I hope they scrape the floors too. But I’m pretty sure that will just because there’s always spills and drips. I’ll see it before then, so I’ll be able to check that.

That humidity will wilt even the toughest player! Especially soccer that is a constantly moving (ideally!) game. I’m happy for YOU that the kids got the perfect car too, and your Drover will stay with you.

Weather people do come up with some interesting sayings, LOL! But our favorite here is when we have a light rain, they call it “Storm Watch” and shoot footage of water trickling in gutters. It’s so ridiculous.

Yay for giving blood, and Jake is a star everywhere he goes!

Hope your week is off to a great start!

Viki, thanks, I hope things keep moving on the house, but we are starting to think about solutions if we need to leave this house before it’s done. But that’s all part of the fun of moving, LOL. Wizard and youngest do well together on projects.

Wizard is in love with that Mustang! He was sad when we dropped it off at the shop this morning :-)

I would be furious over that with the cat food too! I’m pretty sure Amazon will credit your account. Im assuming it said 12 cans, cuz I order some of Maggie’s food that way. I wonder if they packed it wrong or it’s a scam???

By the way, I’m hearing all over that canned cat food is hard to get. So frustrating.

Oh poor Courtney! I’m so sorry she’s in pain like that. I really hope it heals quickly. It’s so easy to get hurt moving. (I keep that in mind!). But at least you got to see Youngest.

That’s way too much humidity and you’re very smart to stay inside with the A/C.

    Happy Monday!
