Weekend Roundup

A better weekend! A quick recap:

Saturday I did some stuff, then in the afternoon I went to see Youngest. We just talked for an hour or two, then his mother-in-law came by, and we started talking. I saw youngest tune out our chatter while doing something on his phone. He could have gone outside and worked on the project he was doing when I got there as he knows we would mind. But he stayed. Then I was telling the other mom that Wizard and I considered moving to another town. And suddenly youngest was back in the conversation with, “That’s a terrible idea!” I looked up at him. “Because we’d live farther away from you?” He answered yes and made my day :-)  It’s nice to hear. We sometimes go a couple weeks without talking just because life gets busy, but we always know the other is close by.

Saturday evening Wizard went racing. I really enjoyed being home alone with music blaring and cooking an easy, new to me recipe for Broccoli Spaghetti. I know it sounds weird but it’s basically pasta and broccoli in a parmesan sauce and I added fresh lemon. I ate two helpings, which is amazing since lately I’ve been forced to eat smaller meals due to a cranky stomach. I loved it. And I was glad I did something just for me.

Sunday we went to see Turbo and had a great time! We went to his swimming lessons which was a lot more fun that it sounds. Afterward I hugged Turbo and told him he did so good. He nodded and informed me that he knew he did “Sooo good” with total confidence. I really want some of that four-year-old confidence! But I was really proud of how well he listened and followed instructions. I also made a cookie dough that needs to sit in the fridge over night. I’ll make the second one today and probably bake both batches today for a small gathering tomorrow when we see Wizard’s uncle.

It was just a better weekend because Wizard and I found ways to be productive and busy around our half packed house :-)

How was your weekend?

Living in limbo is crazysauce. Been there. Don’t envy y’all but totally glad you are finding ways to stay happy and that easy with your awesome family! You and Wiz did amazing jobs with your three boys. There was a weekend here. That’s about all I have to say. LOL

I’m serious. I kept trying to work and stuff kept interrupting so I’m not really closer to getting the first book and I’d hoped to have it release tomorrow. Ah well. Best laid plans and all that.

We got a little rain. Not nearly enough but the west/southwest/southern part of the state did and they are even more desperate than we are so I’ll be happy for them. Will totally take the cooler temps despite the humity.

Still waiting on Uncle Fix-It’s garage guy to come give us an estimate and timeline on fixing the door. Pete is kinda freaked out by the big open space so he’s taken to perching on a work table along one wall that gives him clear view of whatever might sneak in the cat door. I threw a couple of small rag towels and he settled in so now I’ve moved his bed up there.

My Cards came from behind twice to sweep the D-backs. They are now 5 games up in the NL Central so 🤞🏼 (crossed fingers) that they hang on over the Brewers and make the playoffs. As much as I’d love a World Series win for Wainright, Molina, and Pujuls, winning the central and maybe the NLCS would be cool too.

Okay. When I start gushing about baseball, time to get back to RL stuff. If I don’t get ready and my tail to Wallyworld, I won’t get started on work-work and I have a lot of work-work (book-wise) to finish.

Here’s hoping for a quiet week for us all!

I am happy you had a nice weekend. I just love how confident Turbo is. The young ones have no fear :). It’s also great that he is becoming such a wonderful swimmer. So many people never learn.

How nice that BLB’s MIL came over to visit too. It’s so nice that you were all able to have the time together. And how sweet is BLB❤! Our boys are true gems.

Your broccoli spaghetti sounds interesting. I had never heard of it.

My weekend was up and down.

Friday AM youngest and I went to NY to see my mom and do stuff around her house. We repaired and CLEANED so much. In the year since she was diagnosed and step dad died, no one has done stuff around the house or even vacuumed. It took quiet a bit of work but went well.

When we got there she was not looking good at all but laid on the couch while we worked. She picked up a bit and we got her to have lunch. That really helped.

While on the way to NY, Julie’s daughter called to say that Julie was in hospice and slowing down. She thought she had a day or two max. Unfortunately, around 2PM, she called me again to tell me that Julie had just passed. We are now all working to take care of things.

Saturday my middle had his first triathlon. He did very well, especially since he taught himself how to REALLY swim over the spring.

I am really hoping that the heat breaks soon for you guys. I am not thrilled that it is moving back here though😉. At least we had a bit of rain today.

I hope you have a great afternoon!

Silver, those interruptions are so frustrating! I hope this week is better.

Any rain is good at this point. Except in Dallas…that was insane.

More frustration for you (and Pete!) waiting for the garage door.

Congrats to your Cards and hoping the streak continues!

Baseball is your break from life, and that’s a good thing to have! Hope Walmart was quick and painless and you got some real work in!

    Happy Monday!

Viki, oh my gosh, I’m so sorry you all lost Julie. It seems like she fought so hard. That makes for a really sad weekend and week ahead. I’m just so sorry.

Wow you and youngest really had your work cut out for you at your moms. I hope that having some things taken care of around the house cheer her up a bit and make her feel a little better. you guys did a great thing, but I know you probably wish you were closer to keep an eye on her.

Congrats at middle! That’s amazing! He must be so proud of himself!

The heat got a little better but the humidity is hanging around. Hope it doesn’t get too bad there!

Again, my heartfelt sympathies on Julie. I hope the week is as good as it can be under the circumstances.

Darn it all. I thought I commented this morning but I think I got distracted and wandered off, thinking I had commented when I didn’t. Geez. :bangs head on desk: Anyway, I’m glad you got time with BLB and his MIL. And time to yourself. And Turbo time. Sounds like a good weekend.

Our weekend was nice and quiet. Other than the Wallyworld thing, but that was a necessary evil and now I have ice cream again. Yay. Hubs made me a lovely spaghetti dinner tonight, which was totally necessary because it was a long day. And I am toast. (And not even the good kind. I’m burnt, dry toast.)
